I've played small to medium size clubs with this with no problem. It has great sound, is plenty loud enough, very flexible, responds like a tube amp and is lite!
I have 2 BOSS 50's that I run stereo, and I have a version 1 Katana100...All 3 are killer amps that give me every option possible for setups, from duos, to 6 pce bands...I also have the gafc pedal for the 100, and a BOSS ME70 for my stereo setup...These amps are the way to go for any level of player for any genre, from functionality, to price,
Kennis, I love your pedalboard. At every church service I go to, the guitarists have at least 2000 dollars worth of pedals. Of course 2 of them being the Strymon reverb and delay. I struggle with the notion of us worship guitarists often having over $10,000 worth of gear on any given Sunday.
Check out Bright Onion Pedals. The KAT pedal has four buttons on it so you don't have to switch through the B button. I have one and works awesome. Its made especially for the 50 watt Katana.
Fantastic video! I was going to take back the 50 to get the 100 due to the whole Footswitch able channels. Your video showed me that I don’t have to move up to the 100 to have access to a 4 channel.
It's okay to a degree. The effects still sound off. Might work as a decent backline for a rhythm guitarist in the band. I bet it would work very well as a decent backline amp for people to plug in with their own board.
Any venue in the world with a mic in front of it. Doesn’t matter how loud the drummer is. If the venue has great monitors then crank it in your mix. If not, put this amp side stage facing you on top of a road case. It’s plenty loud for whatever.
Hey! I just badly need a help. I'm using Katana 100 in my church. The soundboard guy usually records every songs that we play. Here's the setup: there is one DI Box that my multi fx & Katana 100 shares the sockets that goes directly to the Mixer to FOH. In my observations. In all of the recordings that they've made, the signal coming from the multi fx hits the record (which is 'too soft' for me) & not the one coming from the Katana 100. Can you help sir with this matter? I usually help the music team to provide good sound w/ the help of Katana 100 & the multi fx. but as a church guitarist, it frustrates me due to the outcome of the recording. Please help!
@@kennisrussell I'm not totally sure but in my analysis that I must direct my fx to the amp, then from amp's line out to the di box (via xlr cable) going to snake then Mixer. (Correct me if I'm wrong or what) I tried it before but the 'Line Out' from the Katana100 seems unresponsive. So the sound guy told me to do the setup (which I mentioned above). Seems like there's a hidden settings for the Katana's Line Out to work accordingly.
I have a katana 50 and ive been looking for a pedal that was able to change the channel since you can't use the boss one. Are there any other pedals that do the same thing that you would reccomend?
You can use FS-6 (parallel footswitches) or the FS-7 (two switches in a rocker format) to access 4 presets with the most recent Katana software patch. 1 switch toggles between Patch A and Patch B, and the other switch accesses the "Bank". So you have Bank 1 - Patches A&B and Bank 2 - Patches A&B. I like the FS-7 personally. (www.boss.info/global/products/fs-7/)
This is the first thing I noticed when bought my Katana 100. You have to link the amp up to the Boss tone studio on your computer and balance the levels between channels. Then you’re good to go live.
You're very polite and obviously a God's man, Mr Rusell. I'm not. So I'm glad you answered this prick instead of me. Personaly, I found your video very enlightenning and helpful. Thank you very much.

Used mine live many times...sounds great
When I play at church, I keep the Katana 50 at 1/2 a watt and it works very well.
That's great, if it works in that scenario who knows what it could do on the full 50w setting.

Kennis Russell Yeah me too. Honestly it comes down to the envy that I struggle with.
i play this live all the time. great sound!
Really?
In a party with 50 or 100 people?

Med venue and a skilled drummer or mic,ed up or line out it will rock you!

Very helpful, thanks. But did you answer the question in a follow up video? Did it do a good job?
I use the Boss FS-6...does the same job...😁👍🎸
Thank you from Brazil

The effects are “off” meh , what does one really expect for 199.99 ? I use mine as pedal platform.
I use a Katana 100 head with a Marshall 1936 2x12 cab in my band
Never used the 100watt setting it's easily loud enough with the master at around 40%
Conan O'Brien got some good chops
Haha lool :D
Do you have a patch for the basic clean sound? Or, could you tell us what your settings were and what channel you were using?
That volume swell at 9:20 was actually very good.
I play guitar at church and do you have any amp recommendations to play in a small church? Im using a cheap 10watt od amp.
@@kennisrussell im thinking under 700$ cad
@@kennisrussell thanks, ill check it out
Yup
Small venue quiet drummer yes. Comments closed 😁😁😁😁😁

Boss Katana 50 live? Yes or not. Sorry but you didn't answer. What's your experience? Thanks for video.
Marko Mikronis i use mine live all the time
@Kennis Russell. Thanks for sharing your experience.
It's a shame about that music go round. I bought my first guitar there. I'm going to be getting a katana soon. Great video

how do you switch back to the panel?

You want a latching footswitch . Single switch with a mono cable. Double switch with a stereo/trs cable. Search google for fs6 or fs5 alternative
Most single A/B pedals will work, or ask about the Boss possibilities, cost more, cheaper ones are available..
why is anybody not talking about him looking and sounding like Blake Shelton
Thought you couldn't use a foot switch with the 50

I dont want to be a computer boffin. Its tube amp plus pedal board for me jn a live situation.. I really dont need the brain ache
New X
when you switch channels there’s a noticeable gap in signal... no use on stage 👎👎👎
You are right sir, it would be hard to hide that during a live performance.
