My first ever coaster ride was on the Jack Rabbit at Seabreeze, will never forget it. I was just ten years old at the time, and that drop tunnel at the end scared me to death. The Jack Rabbit eventually became one of my favorite classic woodies, it's part of my childhood memories!
It was mine too and I was about 8 or 10 also, except it was at night. It was so dark I couldn't see any of the upcoming hills or anything, scared the hell outta me, lol!
Just rode it today. More intense than you'd think and the airtime is great for a 122 year old machine. The ride operator was still operating the brakes herself with these big levers. No air brakes or Eddy current brakes here. Great piece of coaster history here.
feels super slow when you're on it which to me was always the scariest part lol that slow climb with the clank clank clank clank clank, the rest was fun
Going there this weekend and taking my great nephew and great niece for their first ride on the Jack Rabbit. I rode it for the first time in 1965. I still love it today. Going to Sea Breeze then to the LDR Charpit for the best steak sandwich in the entire world. Now that is a perfect day.
I’ve been here once, and I gotta give credit to the operator for Jack Rabbit! There is usually only one operator for the whole ride and it is a lot of work running it, no buttons but huge levers.
Thanks for this my mom, me, and my sister went to the park at night yesterday and my sister chickened out before we were about to go in the line. She was scared of what was beyond the first hill so she watched this, went on the ride, and now it's her favorite.
I go to Seabreeze at least once a week, and this is one of my top 3 favorite rides. Oldest continuously operated roller coaster in America, 3rd in the world. So much fun!
I've been to Cedar Point a handful of times and their coasters are amazing. However, the Blue Streak doesn't come close to being as awesome as the Jack Rabbit. For being almost 100 years old, the Jack Rabbit continues to kick ass...especially at night going through the tunnel sitting in the front.
BryceFourn 2001 The one at Kennywood has a lot more airtime, but this one is pretty airtime filled too. I come here a lot. It is the closest amusement park to my house (2 hours away). It's not a great park, but it is fine for a small park. Great for a day trip! New York lacks good amusement park. There is Seabreeze, Darien Lake, The Great Escape, Playland, and Coney Island. I think that is pretty much it.
yugioh guy it's not that bad. I'm four hours from SFGA, four hours from SFNE, four from Lake Compounce, three from Great Escape, two from Seabreeze, three from Darien Lake, three from Dorney Park, three and a half from Hersheypark, two from Knoebels, five from Kennywood, four and a half from Waldameer, six from Cedar Point, nine from Kings Island, four from Canada's Wonderland, five from La Ronde, seven from Kings Dominion, eight from Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and ten from Carowinds. I am pretty evenly spaced I think.
My dream is to buy this park, and make a set of top secret changes to Jackrabbit in the off season. Like a 29 million dollar upgrade. Nothing on the surface would appear different, but the tunnel drop would be extended into a fierce, 5,000 foot extra track diversion underground like Hades.
I used to go here every summer on school trips in July and with my youth group in August while going to Darien Lake too. Now having moved with a Six Flags hella far from me (4 hours) it kind of sucks but i'll always remember these parks and the kind staff.
OMG my all time favorite ride at sea breeze I once rode this 20 times in a row there were no lines but my friends and I still had to go back in line just to ride 15 seconds later but still this ride is AWESOME the front row is cool but the very last seat is superultraextremeawesomeazing take it from someone who had ride this over 100 times you gotta ride in the back
Oh and if you plan on doing the entire ride with no hands like I always do just don't forget to put your hands down when you go up after the 3rd hill, I did no hands on that part last year and I got my stomach on the lap bar so just put your hands down at that part and you'll be fine and another thing is scream like your about to be killed when you enter the tunnel that's be best part
I went to Seabreeze this summer, this and the screaming eagle (got on that like 3 times lol) were my favorites. Seabreeze has another newer blue and orange roller coaster that I got on too, it's pretty good too.
Not entirely sure what happened in the past year but it's gotten a lot rougher. I went yesterday and it gave me a headache but it's still one of my favorite rides.
The ride is really old it was built in 1920 it was the very first coaster in the park and a staple of seabreeze but from the looks of the coaster it's slowly rotting away and it's showing it's age unless they repair it the ride might be taken down soon or they might just keep it untill it collapses on itself since its such a classic coaster, but from the looks of the video this coaster could collapse any day it's only a matter of time sadly
America countryball Seabreeze maintains this ride impeccably well. Every section has been rebuilt probably a dozen times over in the ride’s nearly 100-year history. It’s an old wooden coaster, but it won’t rot away anytime soon :)
Ikr. Like don't get me wrong, for a park that size three roller coasters is pretty good, but I feel this place needs an expansion. (That giant parking lot by the waterpark is taking up a lot of space just sayin')
You are a GP if you prefer those hard and uncomfortable stapling lap bars of Morgan trains over the more unrestrictive buzz bars that allow for more airtime.
Ok so I was born in roachest till 5 years old and I went to sea breeze a lot, but only the water one, then this summer I got to go back to roachester stay with my old naber and I went to each ride here, and I went to screaming eagle for my first time going on a ride that's upside down and that was the beast Vc ever
Clementon Lake Amusement Park in Clementon, New Jersey used to have a Jackrabbit coaster too that was built around the same time but was taken down a few years ago. It looked quite simular to this. I can't answer for the other Jackrabbit coasters, but the one in Clementon Lake Park was built by The Philadelphia Toboggan Company (PTC). They also manufactured many, many wooden carousels and carousel buildings which housed them. Many are still in exsistance after 100 years and are registered as national treasures/landmarks.
Two things... First, I loved that coaster as a kid! Haven't ridden it in decades, but would love to return some day (I moved to the West Coast in 1992). Second, anyone know why there's a friggin' Colonial Viper from Battlestar Galactica parked to the right around 0:45 in??? WTF! :-)
I'm right more wooden coasters need to have the Morgan California Style trains. I would like to see them delivered on the Racer at Kennywood which would replace the PTC trains.
No that should not happen, the restraints on Morgan trains are way too tight and staple you hard, and the hard bucket seats don’t feel as comfy as padded bench seats, not to mention PTC buzz bars are way better anyway.
There was a fight on the Jack Rabbit, I saw it happen, a woman left her seat to put her purse away but then some kid stole her seat, her husband got involved and the kid started the fight. The dude and his wife were allowed to go on the ride but the kid got kicked out of the park for starting the fight.
Does anybody else find that you get better airtime towards the front of this coaster, as opposed to the back as it would usually be? I got 5 rides on it a few days ago, and that's at least that's what I felt. Not a complaint, just an observation.
Y u gotta do jack rabbit like that? Besides you can hardly see it most of the time until you reach the entrance. Also its rough because it's a 100 year old wooden coaster.
Why do the people on this scream every time you go in the tunnel area? It hurts my ears I’ve went on this 3 times and my ears almost exploded because of the 13 year old virgins screaming their asses off what the heck?
Next year this ride will be 100 years old. This ride is older than most of the people living in NY STATE! Give it a break, I actually thought it was fun when I rode it.

It wasn't that scary
It was mine too and I was about 8 or 10 also, except it was at night. It was so dark I couldn't see any of the upcoming hills or anything, scared the hell outta me, lol!
me too!
I hope everybody has a great day👍
Same I remember going on it when I was 8
Just rode it today. More intense than you'd think and the airtime is great for a 122 year old machine. The ride operator was still operating the brakes herself with these big levers. No air brakes or Eddy current brakes here. Great piece of coaster history here.
Not bad, this rollercoaster from 1920 has a faster lift than every coaster in Japan.
feels super slow when you're on it which to me was always the scariest part lol that slow climb with the clank clank clank clank clank, the rest was fun
Rochester
It has a lot of airtime hills
Going there this weekend and taking my great nephew and great niece for their first ride on the Jack Rabbit. I rode it for the first time in 1965. I still love it today. Going to Sea Breeze then to the LDR Charpit for the best steak sandwich in the entire world. Now that is a perfect day.

We live super close to Seabreeze and go there every summer! This was my first ever coaster!
Elly Prusinowski same! this ride brings back so many good memories it’s a big reason why i’m a rollercoaster enthusiast today
Same here I’m about 20 minutes away and always go on this every time

@@Reality_a_thing the hell are you talking about? I’ve been riding this for like 15 years, it’s fine lol.

Hate to ruin this for you, but those screams are added audio. I’ve been on this when the train is practically empty and it sounds the same.
Love this ride! My favorite one in Seabreeze!

I was waiting in line when this video was taken
It’s bigger and scarier than you think and it’s funner and faster than you think
This ride is my favorite one at seabreeze
This is my favorite ride at sea breeze!
Nice. Looks very similar to now defunct Geauga Lake's Big Dipper, which was one of my fave woody coasters.
Good video! The title really reminds me of the wooden coaster of the same name at Kennywood. :)

Jesu Spectre You would be ruining a nearly 100 year old coaster, don’t do that, lol.
You have to scream in the tunnel, it's key.
Absolutely right!
I used to go here every summer on school trips in July and with my youth group in August while going to Darien Lake too. Now having moved with a Six Flags hella far from me (4 hours) it kind of sucks but i'll always remember these parks and the kind staff.
I live in Rochester NY near sea breeze and I love all the rides
I love the jackrabbit.

I love that jack rabbit. One of my favorite rides
I rode this ride when I was ten so I had some serious impact. Especially the turn after the first 2 drops
I love this ride, anyone else?
Went to Seabreeze this morning! First ride my brother and I hit! Front seat. 🤩
I rode screaming eagle first
I went to Seabreeze this summer, this and the screaming eagle (got on that like 3 times lol) were my favorites. Seabreeze has another newer blue and orange roller coaster that I got on too, it's pretty good too.
Not entirely sure what happened in the past year but it's gotten a lot rougher. I went yesterday and it gave me a headache but it's still one of my favorite rides.
Laughy Sophie it's because of erosion

They should redo it with metal. I Actually enjoyed riding it though when I went this summer.
i remember when our schools went on field trips to seabreeze.. good times
Jack rabbit rocks! Ive went on it!
like if you think Seabreeze needs more coasters. And ones from well-known manufacturers
seabreeze is a good place no mote rollercoasters they already have a new one the time machine
Ikr. Like don't get me wrong, for a park that size three roller coasters is pretty good, but I feel this place needs an expansion. (That giant parking lot by the waterpark is taking up a lot of space just sayin')
They should redo the jack rabbit I think.

Me and my friend went on this ride and sat in the front seat, this was the exact moment when I said OHH CRAAAAAAAAAP!!!!
Bro I love this ride I ride it every time I'm at seebreeze and the time machine is a banger
I grew up in Rochester and was always terrified of the Jack rabbit I don’t think I actually went on it till I was in my 40’s.
Why is it that practically every really old wooden coaster caught on fire?
I call this park New York’s waldemer because they both have a spining coaster, a disk ride, an E&F Miller coaster, and an old wooden coaster
And they are both on a Great Lake
i'm born and raised rochester...love the jack rabbit
Im going to seabreeze tomorrow :D
Yo I just love this ride
Best ride in the park to operate!
That looks fast and fun!
I live in Rochester
This ride uses the Morgan California style trains. But more wooden coasters need to have those

Pittsburgh has a jack rabbit too opened same year in 1920 were these by the same guy?

Awesome Video Well Done! :)
I heard in the backround “IS IT SCARY” lol I laughed typing this
Do the hills give negative G's at all (even floater?) It looks fun but a bit slow.
If you look backwards when you're at the top
They do but not anywhere near what it used too before they added the morgan trains
I went on the Jack rabbit by myself when I was 9
It looks bumpy but also looks fun. I'm wondering if the fact that this ride is as slow as it is would be enough to make it not too bumpy
It's only bumpy when you go up the 3rd hill before it's turns around other than that it's pretty smooth
I remember when I first went on this coaster... It was night time and I didn't even know what was coming scary right?
I'm right more wooden coasters need to have the Morgan California Style trains. I would like to see them delivered on the Racer at Kennywood which would replace the PTC trains.

the kid at the end that yelled, "IS IT SCARY?!"
Irondequoit, best town ever.
back when I was little before beartrax was built there was a kiddie coaster called the bunny rabbit lol. obv the jack rabbit is way more awesome tho
There was a fight on the Jack Rabbit, I saw it happen, a woman left her seat to put her purse away but then some kid stole her seat, her husband got involved and the kid started the fight. The dude and his wife were allowed to go on the ride but the kid got kicked out of the park for starting the fight.
I remember going to sea breeze i didn't ride this but it was fun there
So Kenny woods jack rabbit isn’t the only j.r. With a double down
Does anybody else find that you get better airtime towards the front of this coaster, as opposed to the back as it would usually be? I got 5 rides on it a few days ago, and that's at least that's what I felt. Not a complaint, just an observation.
