Therapeutic intent isn't the same thing as moral judgement. Basically if you want to encourage a certain behavior you give a verbal "thumbs up". If you give a "thumbs up" to honesty and admitting their behavior then others will follow suit. If you call out the first guy and shame him, no one else will talk. So if you want the guys to talk calling them courageous is pretty clever. It's a pretty standard line for anyone opening up in therapy really. It's not a therapists job to pass moral judgement over anyone. I may have missed it, but I don't think the women were actually called bitter and that they lack forgiveness. Just that they were in pain and that one of them expressed anger which is also not a moral judgement of their behavior.

A good, well trained therapist almost never tells a couple to split up. They may steer in the direction saying they don’t think this person is willing to forgive or that person is willing to change, but it’s generally accepted that couples have to come to the conclusion to split up on their own in order it to truly be a healthy breakup for them mentally

Completely false. They may push for resolution rather than cutting off for a bit, but if little or no progress is being made, or its made clear the relationship wont work, they will VERY much recommend you split. Sounds like you've had some experience with malpractice. @shaungraen3892

    • @shaungraen3892

@@tortellinifettuccine they will flat out tell you when something isn’t working, when they think no progress is being made in one or both parties, and in severe cases such as abuse they may privately tell the abusee to leave the abuser for their safety or stay with family for a while. Is there some cases where a therapist may tell you to leave your partner? Sure. I’m not saying it never happens. Therapists are human at the end of the day and if I see another human struggling solely due to their partner I may have enough after 100 sessions and tell them they’re destroying each other; however a therapist is much more likely to say that they don’t believe they have the tools to fix this marriage, than they are to say “that’s it. Break up right now.”
Relationship therapists are there to give you tools and suggestions to improve a relationship, while also working through the underlying issues that caused problems in the first place. They’re not there to be your friend that says “girl dump him” because you guys fight a lot. At most they’ll use suggestive language indicating they don’t think anything is helping, and help you to your own conclusion that you should leave. Thats not malpractice, that’s smart and intentional. Theres a reason why there’s so many awful relationships where one partner should leave but never does; because simply telling them to leave does not work. You could be their mom, best friend, or a professional, you still need to lead the horse to water and explain why drinking will save their life before they’re able to drink themselves. Forcing the horse’s head under water may force it to drink, but you’re causing more damage and the horse learned nothing for next time.

    • @shaungraen3892

@@tortellinifettuccine I just wrote a long response only for UA-cam to not send it for some reason 🙃 I’m gonna try to shorten it this time.
Wrong. A relationship therapist’s job is to give you tools to work through your issues as a couple, while also working through the internal problems that caused these issues to arise in the first place. They may say when the believe someone isn’t trying, they will 100% call out who they think is causing more pain or putting in less effort, and they’ll even say when they believe they don’t have the tools at their disposal to save this relationship.
they’re not your friend saying “oh girl you need to dump him” because that doesn’t work. There are so many relationships where one partner needs to leave for their own mental or physical health, but when told by their closest friends and family to leave, they still stay.
No, it’s not malpractice for a relationship therapist to not suggest breaking up, it’s intentional and smart. You can bring a horse to water, but it has to drink on its own. You can force its head under water and it will probably drink some of it, however you’re causing more damage and the horse learned nothing for next time. Thats how they “suggest breaking up”
Obviously in cases of abuse and other extreme cases the therapist is much more likely to suggest a breakup themselves; because at that point it’s a major safety risk for one or both of the individuals, but past extreme cases, therapists are seldom supposed to suggest breaking up outright without using very leading sentences so you come to that conclusion yourself

I disagree. I think he did the mature thing and ended the relationship before things got even worse. FFS, if you’re on Tool Academy, that’s a sign that this relationship does not deserve to get fixed, just like these guys do not deserve to be given INFINITE chances. I guarantee you she was going to get in the limo with him and forgive him, had he not broke it off.
I have no sympathy for any of these women. They have no self respect and they’re bent of the “I can change him” fantasy. You get what you put out into the world.

"living abortion" was a popular insult in the late 90s early 2000s at least in LA where I grew up. Another similar insult was, "did your mom have any kids that lived?" the point being that the guy being insulted was actually aborted by his mom.

Like the girls are the one who get in the show more fucked over than the guys, as the whole point is just getting girls to stay in abusiv/toxic relationships instead of dumping them

While everyone was shitty here, I get why they sent home that Jon. He was unwilling to recognize the pain he is causing his partner and address it. The others all need to rebuild trust, but he demonstrated that he was unwilling to listen and work for his relationship. “We could have talked at home”? No, you couldn’t have. She tried to talk to you during the episode, and you refused to listen. The tv show is meant to show just how serious she is about it and that others think his behavior is not correct. And despite all that, he didn’t care that his actions hurt his partner.

He cheated often and I would just let it go, but it really took a toll on myself. :< The 16 year old was crossing the line though. I could never stay with someone who does that.
