Ben is doing a lot for the boat right now, but Ashley, your contribution, though so different than before is SO, SO important! Don't doubt it for a second. Nahoa is only a piece of equipment without the Nahoa family to make it a home.
Ashley, even though your life seems mundane with the babies with lots of naps and feeding, they will never be this small again so try to enjoy every moment. I had 6 kids in 8 years and it felt like the baby phase would last for ever, but it didn't and now it's gone and I just remember how special and cute they were then.
That boat may be plastic, but you two are the most real and down to earth people out there. Your kids are going to have such a great life with parents like you. Keep doing what you are doing, you are crushing it!
I hope you don't mind me saying this, you two in my opinion seem so happy, you're both " Glowing" or beaming . you look healthy and happy. content if you will. I am so happy for you all to be back on the boat getting it ready to splash again. your babies are incredibly adorable , It may be challenging for the first few weeks on the water with two babies. But something tells me you will be at home and everything will be awesome. Congratulations on the addition to your beautiful family. Stay Safe and God Bless you and yours !!!!
So brave! Ashley - try to remember that your time with the kids is not work but a labour of love. Hard to remember this at times but later, when they are completely independent, you will understand what a gift this time has been.
Having done regular Florida to Caribbean deliveries, I long ago learned the method of preventing clogged filters once you hit the chop. When I go inspect a boat pre-delivery, I add lots of Startron's tank cleaner (different from the regular treatment) and top the tank off to the top. You need to give it a full month to work before heading off, but since adding this to my routine, I rarely need to change a filter from Miami to Puerto Rico. Prior to this I would demand owners polish the fuel before departure but find that while the fuel may be clean the tank walls were still covered in sludge waiting to peel off, demanding not only swapping filters but regularly opening tank access ports to reach in and remove the sludge blocking the pick up line. Not fun at night hove to.
You mentioned saildrives and saildrive seals. One of the problems that may occur is saltwater intrusion which causes all sorts of problems. About 10 yrs ago I was reading a blog by SV Ocelot. Their cat had saildrives and they devised a system that would keep saltwater out even if a lower seal was damaged. Simply it involved drilling/tapping a hole in top of saildrive, screwing in a hose bib, attaching a clear tube with a shut off valve, hose attaches to a plastic reservoir positioned on wall above the engine. Reservoir is filled with saildrive oil and provides positive pressure inside the saildrive. If a lower saildrive seal goes, the reservoir oil will slowly drop, telling you there is a damaged seal but keeping saltwater out of the saildrive. Thought it might be something of interest to you.
Love your comment about wanting to show you children the world. My brothers and I, Americans, were fortunate to have traveled and live in places in the world, while growing up. I can say, was an awesome experience, and glad our parents were adventurous to want to travel and live in foreign lands with four boys. Cherished memories are sometimes the ones most challenging! My wife and I, have a 2013 Lagoon L400S2 Owner’s version, currently sailing the Mediterranean, and eventually the South Pacific. Followed you since 2020. Fair Winds and safe travels ⛵️😎
You guys are my absolute favorite sailing family. Love your humor, the way you are a team and just your love for one another. The gift that you are giving your children--the world, WOW....cannot wait to see where 2022 takes you!
You guys are so awesome! Love watching your family grow and learn. By far the best partner relationship I have even seen. Compliment each other so well!
Not needing the generator but having it is a back up worth thinking about...anything that can reduce stress or solve a problem can balance the new challenges yall are facing with baby's in tow...what a adventure we are thankful to be part of!
This is my first time posting on your videos, but been following you guys for a long time, watch every episode. You guys are such a great humans! We also love the water, ocean, boat life, etc.. Keep those videos rolling 🛥⚓️💪🙏
Glad to see you are out and making the boat ready. Excited to follow your AC projects Ben! Ash love your enthusiasm, parenting is exhausting at times and in the heat - ouch, but you keep on! I'm touched at such wonderful loving parents you both are. Thank you for sharing and wishing you a smooth splash out of that yard and back on the water. Brian Top Hat 25'
Your paradise lifestyle give me more inspiration... going to sail on April to see the wonderful world out there and eating fresh fish everyday and forever. ;)
Great videos keep them coming. There were a lot of bad times in the last couple years that your videos helped as a escape from everything! You guys are awesome can’t wait to see you back in the water!
Another great one... Ben, you hooked me in the end, so I will see you on Patreon! I don't usually like boat yard videos, but LOVE the your stories and sailing / sailboat tips. You guys rOck!
For a good introduction to solar/lithium you want to watch Delos, Sophisticated Lady (Rick Moore) and UMA. They've all gone solar including their galleys, a/c (on Delos and Sophisticated Lady), and, in Rick's situation, are now electric for their dinghy. UMA also has an electric sail drive (zero diesel on that boat). Not inexpensive if one had to purchase (they do get manufacturer support because they are essentially beta-testing their systems), and very involved installation/retrofits, but certainly enviro-friendly.
Many people have no idea how hot Southern Thailand is now. Aircon is a great idea if you can run solar! Sending our best from Koh Lanta! Take the weekend off and pop over for a visit!
You guys are one of my favorite channel on UA-cam, I'm always excited for new videos and I kind feel like family to me , I wish you guys the best this world can offer , is really satisfying to watch your adventures and now with two kids on the boat , I hope everything can be even better. Really like you guys
Thank you Ben and Ashley for sharing your beautiful family and I cannot wait to see how well the air conditioner work and looking forward to you getting back in the water. Blessings to all of you 🙏🙏⛵️⛵️⛵️🥰
Sea chests! One thru-hull with a manifold for all three intakes and another for the discharges. Only two hull penetrations below the waterline. "Oh, but it's a catamaran," you say. Well, I say if you can run the intake and discharge for the salon unit with its own thru-hulls from one hull, then it must certainly be possible to run the lines across to the other hull. It would certainly be worth investigating. *Yes, I realize the job is already done, given these videos are not real time, but . . .
The AC is going to be a game changer for you both. Don’t feel like your life is not interesting raising the babies is huge. They will be the next generation to explore and invent the changes for tomorrow. You guys are amazing
I heard about the oil spill in Thailand . What a shame . I'm hoping it didn't affect you . Good luck with the projects . Keep 1 room air tight so you can just run AC to 1 room if battery power is low .
Thank for still posting a video even though you are so busy trying to get everything done in the next few days. That heat can really take it out of you. It looked like you were walking up a hill, Ashley. That AC on the boat will be so nice. Amazing that can run on battery power. What will be your next stop once you leave Thailand?
Exited to see you out there again with your kids. I have 3 kids 4, 7 and 9 years old. And I'd bet they'd love the boat life. I have a small outboard and they love to go camping on small islands and stuff. Your lifestyle is just so cool.
It's great to see you guys back on Nahoa! I've been watching you all since Panama and recently my wife and I started our own channel. I watch your content for insperation while in the editing process. Happy for you four!
Y’all are a great team. Ashley your “part” may be the most exciting. It must be the hardest part because there is no man that I know who would trade places with you. Thank you for sharing your lives with us.
Really nice to see this part of your life. Hopefully i see your family in sweden in the future. My home is like your in canada lot of snow right now. Taka care of your all 4 cruice members.
With the 2 babies on-board, reliability is the utmost importance. So I'd be considering swapping to new engines or at least getting them completely and freshly re-built. Also, I would be concerned about sooo many thru-hulls. Instead, consider 1 line to supply all A/C units and 2 for discharge that also runs thru a hot water exchange to heat up shower water. So one supply, which can even be pulled from another seawater thru-hull and then one return line, which can be installed above the water line. The drip lines can be managed well above the water line.
BEN ! I hope you read this before you cut thru-hulls in your boat. ONE (!) PUMP CAN SUPPLY "RAW WATER" TO THREE (3) AC UNITS ! If you want you can instal a manifold to regulate the flow ! PLEASE; Tell me I was on time with this suggestion!❤🏝
Hi! I'm excited to see your improvements become a reality for the boat. Do you have a master improvement plan (example- more refrigeration for food stores) that you would like to achieve over the next few years in anticipation of obsolescence of equipment and growing family needs? Do you have new or additional safety improvements (kid proofing) incorporated into your tasks prior to sailing? Boat handling and child management while sailing or at anchor present new complications with a second child. I would be interested in knowing how you structured these issues. I'm excited to see your family back at the boat and living your lives as you choose. Best wishes to your family.
I cant wait to follow you 4 on your travels to the rest of the world. I am a fellow Victoria born person and wish you the best. I am jealous and wish I was a deck hand in your passages... Cheers
Thailand looks like a very lush and beautiful place.
May a gentle breeze forever fill your sails.
Ashley, motherhood becomes you, you are absolutely sparkling.

Excited to see how those small 12V ACs perform. Very cool idea. ;)
Could be a great application for truckers as well
Yep me too 👍
I saw one in person recently, seemed to do exactly as advertised.

Thank you for the updates. It can’t be easy with 2 kids and a boat to watch after. Can’t wait to see Nahoa back in the water
Quite a project. I think I'd still want a backup generator just to run an emergency bilge pump or two when all else fails.
Thank you Ben and Ashley for sharing your beautiful family and I cannot wait to see how well the air conditioner work and looking forward to you getting back in the water. Blessings to all of you 🙏🙏⛵️⛵️⛵️🥰

So exciting to see your aircon happening. And so thrilling that you’ll soon be back in the water 🙌🏻
I'm cheering you on family!

I would. Just don't have the necessary equipment.
It's just natural seeing you guys at this point
The four are best, keep on guys
Really nice to see this part of your life. Hopefully i see your family in sweden in the future. My home is like your in canada lot of snow right now. Taka care of your all 4 cruice members.
Just use a venturi hooked into discharge water for A/C and save 3 thru hulls . Been running one for 6 years with no water going into bilge
Great to catch up Nahoa and the beautiful family. keep up the great vids and being you

Agree. Was thinking the same as Ben was 'doing math'.
if you haven't already looked into it, consider getting or building a fuel polisher. sailing cadoa recently purchased one.
Calico Skies did as well I believe.
Glad you guys are back at your boat. You guys have a beautiful family. God bless.
Thank you for sharing all of your experiences!!
Can’t wait to see you guys back on the water
