In my opinion H series are only second to k and j series bro, and by a slim margin , H series are beast motors and are incredibly well known to be problematic for us k owners , I still want to do a h2b in a ek sedan one day, H is definitely still my fav Honda Motor despite the balance shaft seal failures and the frs cylinder walls stress on the piston rings
majorkin19 f20b solves the frm and is a fun motor but for tq the h23 is a beast. Those are super impressive numbers on xenocrons dyno. The thing must be insane.
I have built H22 prelude. It was balanced and blue printed by Golden Eagle. It has cast iron sleeved cylinders, forged rods and pistons, balance shaft delete, and a knife edged crankshaft. I lowered the compression ratio to 9.5 using swirled and tapered stainless steel flat valves. I’m running Crower dual titanium valve springs. I ran dual crower cams until I snapped one and had to rebuild my motor (I’m now running type S cams). Luckily I only bent two valves. I sent my prelude into two shops for repairs. One for the valve train repair, and another for a transmission upgrade. Afterwards it never ran right. It kept detonating and never idled correctly. One day I looked over the entire car and found that someone had bent a fuel line under the motor. It had been heated and kinked to a nearly 45 degree crimp. I have never trusted a mechanic’s shop ever since. The car has been shelved for a few years. It’s just missing a turbo and engine management computer.
Use to have a turbo H22 and it broke, no enough money for good setup/tunning… Made it all motor afterwards and loved it specially because of the sound, I was using PLM/2.5”, Magnaflow muffler. Now I’m making another H22 from stock. Really looking forward to it. That’s a great looking engine/car Doing good 👍🏽👍🏽
I just noticed that it was tuned without the air filter... my motor was tuned with the filter still intact.. we didnt have the intake sticking up either..
@@cksnah252 Did you check your correction factor too? Most dynos get tuned in STD which reads higher than what he was tuning in which is SAE. He would've hit 220/170 if it were in STD guaranteed. Removing the intake filter doesn't guarantee more power either. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
That’s awesome, my 92 prelude si has a h22a1 and it made 203 to the wheels with a AEM cold air, eBay header, Megan test pipe and catback, AEM fuel rail and regulator and a walbro 450 pump tuned with a AEM V1 ecu with limiter set at 7000
I have a 2001. People have tried to steal it on multiple occasions. I’ve come home to broken door handles, messed up locks, and pry in damage. My neighbor caught one guy trying to break into my prelude. He called the cops on him, but before he took off he got so upset he broke my driver’s side mirror. Keep a good eye on your prelude. They have one of the most sought after Honda motors.
Self K do h2b with a gsr or ls trans or ls fifth the h trans costs Hp and doesn't shift as smooth from the cables not always engaging fully also weighs more. I'd do the brough performance kit if your good with a grinder and power tools. It saves money and makes for less to go wrong. H2b is well worth the extra grand it may cost depending if you get everything on the Internet could be cheaper to. Great setup for a budget. If you go h trans get the jdm f20b trans has great gear ratio and should be plentiful also should have LSD. The wiring is super easy to do just research it most are extending wires and changing connectors with the colors matching. The only wiring hard part maybe the dizzy if the car is a different obd code to the car. For the h22 dizzy if the engines obd code is different from the motor just get the jumper harness because the colors do cross. Now the f20b has an oddball dizzy a few other motors as well easiest just to swap it with one that matches the harness. You can find the diagram online but its pretty hard to find with the extra wire being grounded inside the cap.
My s type prelude made 168 hp@wheels 100% stock no cold air no exhaust.i was surprised even the dyno shop said I'd be lucky for 110 ..I told the shop nah it's more than that I goes hard ..he laughed and said well the dyno will show it..the cam change also changed his expression lol
Wow, very Impressive for the H series! Eric made me almost the exact same power on my Kpro, bolt on K20a2 DC5. YOSOLO tunes very aggressive, so you have to treat it right. My timing tensioner took a crap with his 2 step and bent my valves...RIP RSX. I have a DC2 now in dire need of a swap! I think we have a winner.

Bonnet open, filter removed, intake pipe sticking up is not really representative of running conditions, it's just to get peak numbers. Also Stock doesn't mean only oem cams/pistons etc
Hi prestige built I have the same setup but I was tuned on ec tune in a p28 on 91 pump gas I have the same setup but I'm using high-end headers my car pulls but doesn't shoot flames at 2 step what's your opinion on programs what would u recommend for a retune later in the future
Whatever your tuner prefers I like Neptune alot. That or hondata s300. The Neptune demon does all the same stuff and has great admin. Both have onboard logging and you can make changes at the track as well.
definitely recommend hondata s300, widely known in the tuner world, easy to work with and pretty affordable when compared to higher brands, especially on a street driven car

that is very impressive for stock H22... My forged internal B18c5 made only 5 whp more than yours and it cost me arms and legs to build it.. weisco pistons, Carillo pro A connecting rods. RM cams . Ti. valve trains. blah blah.. balanced and blue printed. it made 192 whp on mustang dyno which translates to around 220 whp

If I'm just looking for a good Vtec Motor to upgrade to and not looking for max hp or rpm, is the H23 a decent enough selection over the non-vtec h23 that's already in it ?
texasfoci ofcourse, h23a bluetop is a great stock motor. I had one first, then it went because it didn’t rev as high and wasn’t tuned as well. But good start off motor.

This is a full bolt on h22. Average can be 205-240. Really depends on how well the motor is breathing and depends on the intake manifold setup and fuel. 91/93 vs e85.

I had purchased a riced out '90 CRX automatic with a wild bodykit on it and intake and str8 piped. Made maybe 100 horses at the crank, but that thing was my favorite car ever. Maybe 75wph. I could only imagine what that thing would feel NA with 3X the power and a 5MT.

Its getting fully ported and built head. Top of the line ported race head. Ported skunk2 k ultra street manifold. K20a pistons. Should make about 255-260 still basically a 2.0liter on e85

Stock motor. Intake,header and exhaust are not part of the motor. Pistons rods cams are.

Its getting fully ported and built head. Top of the line ported race head. Ported skunk2 k ultra street manifold. K20a pistons. Should make about 255-260 still basically a 2.0liter on e85
@@elmayimbe_the_amateur_mechanic so more compression and bigger motor. Should get you very close to 300. I'm still going to be near stock compression
@@hannahcruz6754, K series pistons in a H series? Wow! I like the F20 because it will rev higher than the H. Once you build the head that think should be able to rev over 9K.
