    This was the MOST HELPFUL walkthrough of the MK3 I've seen! Most people just show you how THEY make beats super fast but don't explain in detail the thought process behind each instrument and how to arrange everything...man...amazing vid!

    I’m so glad I found this. 4 years ago I bought my MK3, and couldn’t find any tutorials. It was hard for me, as it was my first daw experience. Sad to say that the first time I gave up, and it sat for 2 years. Finally some better tutorials are out including NI’s own. These helped me to at least try again w my mk3. But your videos are what I was searching for when I first bought it. Super simple, and easy, and not rushed. Really friggen great set of videos.

    Big respect and ting.
    Just got a second hand push 2 and feel in love with this way of working but the buttons especially in the drum sequencer mode are just stupidly hard to push,plus I have all the NI software soo be it on!!

    • @afmfintech
      @afmfintech 3 роки тому +3

      @@klaytonvonkluge4905 No, they're fine. There's just something about the way Doug does it that resonates. Maybe the context of doing a song, rather than just going through the interface. I learn by doing, so I really like step-by-step tutorials.

    • @klaytonvonkluge4905
      @klaytonvonkluge4905 3 роки тому +2

      @@afmfintech same, I GOTTA have step by step, or I'm lost ... see, I got a new iPad last oct, and discovered "GarageBand", so, it kinda put my Mk3 on the back burner, GarageBand is so intuitive and user friendly... but I'm gonna endeavor to persevere over this Mk3, if it kills me! haha..... or, I'll be selling it on eBay and getting some stuff for my dslr 😁🤣😂

    As others have said, this is a good video for people like me who have just got a Maschine and are trying to understand the basic structure and workflow of the system. It is absolutely one of the best I have found so far on the subject
    Having spent 20 years my working life writing and delivering demonstrations and tutorials of creative software for major software companies including a certain fruit named colossus, I appreciate what goes into producing a video like this.
    Maschine looks to be incredibly powerful tool, but getting ones head around the basic logic and terminology can be a bit of a head scratcher. It's my experience that software with its roots in Germany has a different feel than from other parts of the world.
    If I had a criticism of your presentation as it stands, it would be to cut out the little asides and diversions and to keep focussed on the matter on hand. I would also rehearse my button presses more before committing to a final recording, or edit out miss pressed buttons etc.
    I like your vocal delivery and the overall way you have structured the tutorial, just think it needs a bit of a polish in the post production, some judicious editing, and maybe including some close ups and or graphics/call outs. I understand that this takes more time and effort, sometimes a lot more, and obviously that's your call. I absolutely appreciate your generosity in sharing your knowledge/experience.
    Keep up the good work and look forward to many more tutorials in the future. I have liked and subscribed

    Here's a great video idea for you: Making Brian Eno aleatoric (random probabilities) ambient music in Maschine. There is very little in this genre for this software compared to other DAWs and it actually lends itself wonderfully for it. PLUS a great angle is making it with pattern mode vs clip (and both together) as both have their plus and minus for this genre (e.g. sustained (held) notes at the end of a clip dont carry over to the beginning of the clip - in patterns they do so great for continues drones). But there are work around in clips to do that of course. Having empty space at the end of 15 bar pattern, for example, can create the same quality as clips mode as far as a linear quality of parts lining up in different places and coming in and out at various times in a compostition. etc etc. :)

    This is great, Doug. As much as I enjoy the boom bap tutorials, Maschine shines when it’s used to arrange a whole song, and there’s not so much on UA-cam covering the process. Will keep watching you, Jeff Gibbons, and Blezzbeats. Most fun I’ve had with a piece of gear for years, and I’ve only just got started. Keep on keeping on!
