I’m sorry Jehiely but him proposing now will not make you happy in the end of the day because in the back of your mind you will know he did it because you basically gave him an ultimatum. You leaving was not for him it was mostly for you because you know that the first days of being away from someone you have been with for a long time is the hardest so I’m sure you wanted to push him into proposing now that you guys are moving into a house and that’s not the best way to do this. Proposing should always come out of their heart not out of fear that your girlfriend will leave you if you don’t. By doing this you basically told him propose to me soon or I’m leaving you and I’m sure a proposal will come soon but it didn’t come from his heart and from what I see marriages like that don’t last too long. I know I myself would not be happy with a proposal knowing It didn’t come out of them knowing that I pushed them to do it. And don’t get me wrong I wish you both the best but the way you do and look at things isn’t healthy. PLEASE READ THE BOOK “THE 5 LOVE LANGUAGES” it shows how everyone has a DIFFERENT love language. Yours could be acts of touch and words of affirmation and his might be acts of service. This helped my relationship and it made me realize that I need to grow and show my partner in HIS way that I loved him. Becuse mine is acts of service so by me cooking for him is me showing him I love him but he DOESNT see it like that becuse he reads love as words of affirmation hence why he calls me beautiful everyday you know?

I'm pretty sure every long term relationship goes through this. Me and my man been together for 11 years and my depression/anxiety gets me in a lil overthinking paranoid mood too every now and then where I question his love. I learned that I can't compare him to every single guy out there and I can't harp on every little thing like omg he didn't say I love u this time or say this or hug me. Actions speak louder than words cuz when I didn't have a job my man didn't hesitate to pay my car until I could get back on it. He also paid for my sick dog's medication and he always does everything in his power to make me happy when I'm sad. He'll go out to McDonald's at 3 am if I wanted something and whenever I get mad and leave, he'll follow me cuz it kills him inside and he wants to make things right. Just don't give up cuz of the little things. Sometimes life gets in the way and work makes you tired or people's love languages are different. Just think about all the other ways Alex shows you he loves u to ease your mind. That's just my two cents but I'm glad yall made up. Maybe set aside date nights or go out with separately with friends to see what helps you guys.

You’re very wrong and extremely naive to think this way. There are breaks in a relationship. Especially a long term relationship with two people who are VERY close and very similar. Breaks don’t always mean sleeping with or being with other people. Normal people who love their significant other and aren’t whores sometimes just need space/time for themselves after years of being together because a relationship can be suffocating and exhausting regardless how much you love the person. Being in love for such a long time gets too comfortable and quite honestly very boring. But if you genuinely love that person, during the break that the both of you agree on you won’t try to find that comfort in someone else. A lot of the time you really do have to miss someone to remember why that person brought you so much comfort and happiness in the first place and there’s no shame in that.
