I have learnt different ways to distinguish between God's voice and my own ideas...to determine whether the impression/idea is from God or... • firstly ask yourself if it agrees with the bible (read Luke 21v33). Everything God speaks agrees with the scripture. •Ask yourself if does the idea make you more like Christ. Gods purpose in your life is to make you like Jesus.(read philippians 2v5)...its not an idea from God if its motivated by bitterness, envy, selfish ambition. An idea from God is gonna be pure,peace loving...Ask yourself if it's gonna hurt anyone or not...Ideas from God are full of mercy ,it is impartial and sincere • Is it convicting rather than condemning. Conviction comes from God to correct us. (Just like Hungs just said) • God can speak to you through the bible. Every time you read the bible you giving God a chance to speak to you. • God speaks to us through peace (Forgot the scripture but it's in the bible as well) • Listen to the peace level in your life/heart about something. Because that's how God speaks to you (For instance Steph just said that she prays about her scripts before she auditions, if she's not at peace with that role then she just doesn't audition.) • God can speak to you through people (provebs 11v14)...this can be caused by disobedience-when the Lord speaks and you don't obey it,he will stop speaking or speak through someone else..
