    With the taped windows, we didn't have much dust and it was no big deal to clean up after. We loved having our RV and will do it again.

    We were told by many burners to tape up windows and bins. I can say it worked well for us and our cleanup was minimal after leaving the playa. Has nothing to do with how well an RV is built, it's just a safety measure to keep the fine dust from getting through the cracks.

    Painter's tape! Why haven't I thought of that! Definitely a necessity! Thanks for the great tips!

    We tape down cardboard to the floor, helps a lot in clean up... duct tape will patch any rips. Buy a roll of "underlayment" from Home Depot in the flooring section and cut with scissors.

    We did and it was dusty but we had no trouble getting it clean at the car wash. We went to a self clean truck wash with an undercarrage wash and a latter to get up on the roof. It took us 2 hours to get her shinny as new.

    before you get to BM there is town Fernley there is lowes,home depot,walmart and there you can get all you need ,we had 21galons water per person, we did not use shower in RV (to small) we had solar shower for outside and plenty water to shower every evening , we get RV in salt lake city and even there for the week of BM RV cost double then week before and week after, they know :) sleep till 11 before it get to hot or run your a/c and be lock down in your R/V(NO) ,night is very cold no AC NEEDED

    Hey! The windows are the latest and greatest but with the way the wind blows out on the playa we didn't want to take any chances.

    Seems like so much to remember, do you guys carry a roster or a list of the things you need to do in the morning before you head out?

    If you will not run a/c in your RV then we got 44-46c in there and we also open window and door later when there was no dust (visible) in air or evening if we stay around RV which we did not a much, you need to put some thing front of the RV or on the stairs to clear shoes and then we get roll of paper 2feed wide from lowes and cover whole floor and tape it down cover you dash board with towels or blanket this save time to clean this dust from there which take some time, they charge me

    Burn on! Some of the best tips I have found on this. We will have to leave the kids at home for this one.

    Quick question: When you purchased your RV, were the window seals not reinforced? Perhaps "reinforced" is the wrong word, but I know that some newer RV models come with windows that are sealed more strongly to prevent water and dust from getting inside.

    Rent one... why distroy yours with all that playa dust, but rental companies have gotten wise

    I would have gotten a white one tbh but as long as you have an air conditioner I guess that's chill

    The RV's for rent are outrageous! Not sure what kind of tape you had, ours was the light duty kind of painters tape that doesn't leave a residue behind. Sucks you had such a crappy RV experience at burning man.

    Sand will will get inside anything from brakes, AC units to vent pipes and filters are useless as they will clog up. It's the one thing I avoid at all cost unless you like fixing stuff.

    • @lifestudentlove

      Claude Rains it's not sand.. it's dust, but yea!

    I was there with RV to , and also some one give us advice to use tape around windows and else WHAT A WRONG MOVE ! we had both types of tapes blue and yellow both of them got cooked by soon and we spend over 2 hours to clean that glue stuck on RV and non on the tape which tear apart in inches, maybe we got old tape or I do not know , all I can tell you this year I'll go with tent no need RV in my case I was all alright in that heat because I'm from florida,RV was great but expensive.

  • @vasehovno
    @vasehovno 11 років тому

    if you drive RV thru the places where is dust or heavy rain with winds plus you drive against rain 60mph and water or dust did not get inside so what is the deal with tape standing on one spot for one week , sure dust on playa is very fine but still! you do no what is my point DO NOT DO SAME mistake as we did with unneeded tape, dust did get in the RV anyway on the clothing(if you willing to wear any) on shoes when you open door to get in and out, after 2 days we give up to believe NO DUST IN RV

  • @vasehovno
    @vasehovno 11 років тому

    OTHER TIPS are great just the tape I would skip that (windows seal well), by the way you guys have great RV , see ya on the playa (iris/8:45)

    1000$ deposit because they did know we going to BM and tell us that we can say bye bye to our deposit I told them that we'll see about that because I'm in cleaning business for over 10 years we got all our deposit back and they did ask us if we really went to BM ,ha ha cleaning take 4 hours (3 guys) truck wash 29$ self wash 20$ cleaning supl.,20$ from that 20$ only 10$ was for chemical to remove glue from tape, with no tape and covered dash board it would take 1:30min in 3 persons, make a plan

    If you want to bring your RV to burning man.....don't! I would read up on it more first. I would never tell a friend to bring a super nice RV. Just bringing a nice van was a bit of a nightmare because the dust gets all over everywhere if it's a stormy year.

    Is this satire? Holy bourgeoisie Batman! Let's go to this totally sustainable and alternative festival in our extremely expensive gas guzzling RV. And don't forget to tape up all the cracks because we wouldn't wan't any dust in our suburban cocoon. Oh and make sure you bring your ice makers everybody! But hey we're totally ecological and stuff because we picked up all the plastic water bottles!
