    1986 to 1993 is considered the "junk wax" era of baseball cards. There are some good rookies but the card companies produced millions of cards during that time.

    As much as I've been enjoying the toys you guys are finding and the nostalgia ....I would love to be able to just browse the cards...that would be a dream to possibly hold cards unused to have or see ones I couldn't get my hands on haha

    The Junk Wax Era spans 87-94. It signifies the increase in print runs and a decrease is card stock quality by all manufacturers. '86 and earlier is considered the "vintage" years for Topps.

      Also early in the video I see small football traded set pulled out. Orange box. Pretty sure that’s Topps Football ‘89 traded. Detroit boys should know. Barry Sanders rookie in that set. 😉

    at 8:45 that Leaf candy header is pretty rare. I once had a box of mr bones candy with all the coffins and candy sealed that I sold for $3000
    there is a collector of candy that might be interested in that leaf piece. his name is Jason Liebig. he has one of the largest vintage candy collections I have ever seen

    I made it to the VHS explanation! So Shane does what I do as well. Where are the Masters of the Universe toys? That’s like the only toy line we haven’t seen.

      Surprisingly there was only 1 MOTU item in the entire house. I think it shows up in one of the next few vids.

    How did you come across this haul? Did you advertise on Facebook marketplace? I’m trying to get into something similar but I don’t know how to advertise my service. Did you offer to buy the estate as is?

    • @SargeRedsVintageToys
      @SargeRedsVintageToys  3 роки тому

      Hey Dan, Basically word of mouth, the seller knew I bought & I sold toys and reached out to me. My advise would be to let people you meet know what you do and ask them to keep you in mind if they know anyone looking to sell what you buy.

    The people who bought all these toys and cards were serious collectors ..... Too bad they died before having a chance to actually see what things they collected turned out to be valuable 50 years later and which items were a waste of money.... Collecting is fun but you have to be willing to sell once in a while and maybe re invest or things can get out of hand like was the case here. Buy Trade and Sell ... You can't play Buy Buy Buy Forever.

    • @SargeRedsVintageToys
      @SargeRedsVintageToys  3 роки тому +2

      I agree, you have to sell/trade and cant buy buy buy forever. The prior owner of this wasn't a collector of toys. It was a Grandma who saved everything. Her Grandson is the one who was dealing with the estate a decade after she passed and said it was all toys and items that were his and his sisters as a children. Its just been sitting for decades. Funny that the stuff that was supposed to be valuable and collectable as it aged (cards) and stuff that was typically beat to heck and played with( toys) had totally opposite values trajectories all these years later.

    • @lenzcap45
      @lenzcap45 3 роки тому +3

      @@SargeRedsVintageToys Yeah but I keep seeing value books so they had to have some kind of an eye for collecting and rarity and possible future value. They had a good eye and made a lot of good buys.
