FINALLY. Rational thoughts from the national media. Thank you, Albert.
@@dokedoker3340have you seen Bryce play? Bryce himself has a hand in his own benching as well. For whatever reason, he's not seeing, nor throwing down the field.
Breer is just excellent. Good inside knowledge and talks through things really well.
Albert is such a quality person who’s also very respectful of everyone who he’s reporting on.
i can't wait for the Panthers Netflix documentary in 10 years and see all this come out.
Tepper would just by Netflix and shut it down. True Story...
@@StillKeepOnLosing lol
No-1 cares enough about the Panthers to make the doc,let alone watch it
@@mrimportant4787 lmao
Bryce Young played the biggest role in Bryce Young’s benching
Thanks , most people just talking and haven’t even watched him play.
fr his films are disgusting. Missing open receivers and throwing 3 of the same INT through 2 games, lol
💯
Albert has pierced thru the nonsense. HC watched the LAC film, saw QB1 just was not working, knew it had to make a change. Again, it is impossible to eval the RB, TE, and WR groups with QB play that bad. Impossible. OL was supposedly grading out OK to PFF. So what are you left with moving forward? Gotta make a change to ID the problems. And please, please stop brining up the haul CAR gave up to get the guy. This current regime had nothing to do with that and cannot get a mulligan anyway.
When ppl bring up the haul they gave away, that is called a "sunken cost". Chasing sunken costs is the reason why gamblers go broke. If Bryce sucks too much, he gotta hit the bench, no matter what they gave up to get him.
Tepper was probably informed and gave his blessing which I'd expect is customary whenever the HC wants to make a huge QB decision but everything points to this decision coming from Canales. Tepper invested a lot into Bryce for him to willingly give up on him so fast but he's trusting Canales' evaluation.
He should, the play calling last week showed that the coach has no confidence in Bryce at all. He was trying to get out of the stadium and proceed for the next game.
He doesn't have a choice but to trust Canales. He fired Frank Reich who was trying to prevent ANY of this from happening. 😊
Mel Kiper rated Young the number one offensive prospect in the 2023 draft.
If that's not the kiss of death, I don't know what is.
He also said Clausen would be a great QB, and had Blaine Gabbert over Cam Newton.
Lmmao 😂😂😂 God's honest truth ! Nice one
Mel Kiper is a conman. He gets paid for opinions that can easily come from the average fan. He was hyping up Bryce during the draft. Dude doesn’t know football. Teams gotta listen to their own scouts
🤣🤣
I thought it was Will Levis?
If anyone watched the first two panthers games, 1- they be kicking themselves for wasting time on watching them, 2- they would completely understand why Bryce is benched, and 3- Panthers aren't done with him. BY will sit this year and get to see Andy be a pro. Maybe Bryce will start in the later games this season when the Panthers are out of playoff contention completely.
Agreed I think they are going to try and develop him
Dalton will go down and Young will return
Joe Flacco came in and played great for the Browns last year, there's nothing to say Dalton can't do the same for the Panthers. As a side note I think Bryce would do well in Canada.
Say what you want about Frank Reich, but I guarantee you Frank didn’t want Bryce Young. If you’re hiring a head coach who is a former NFL Quarterback, you should be deferring to his judgment on QBs. Young is short, thin, not fast, doesn’t have a plus arm, and played on a stacked team his entire college career. “But, he’s smart.” Smart doesn’t help you enough when 300-lb DL are chasing and hitting you.
>> _Say what you want about Frank Reich_
Why, certainly! One of the most overrated coaches in NFL history, an abysmal dink-and-dunk playcaller with no vision and no creativity. King of the bubble screen and the A-gap run. Absolutely the world leader in obfuscation from the podium following each and every one of his serial failures and an inability to correct fundamental deficiencies on the offensive line. It was absolutely insane that he was immediately hired by Tepper after his F-minus showing in Indy in 2022. -Colts fan.
>>Young is short, thin, not fast, doesn’t have a plus arm, and played on a stacked team his entire college career.
T H I S.
I'd add he has a minus arm and has a Russel Wilson-like inability to see the middle of the field.
@@carrite but he knows what an NFL QB should be. And it's not a pre-pubescent teen who can't see past the OL, who has no time to process, and who was MASSIVELY overrated because he was on some stacked AL teams.
@@carrite He was the OC for the Eagles team that won the Super Bowl over Bradys Patriots and I didn't see much dinking and dunking in that team.
@@capricornmagic63He didn't call the plays on that team.
Clearly a top level decision when deciding to bench a guy you spent so much capital on just a year and half ago. Feel bad for Bryce because he really didn't get a decent team to grow with.
Yes. To try to say the owner had no hand in this is the height of ridicularity (a word that I made up, but actually should exist).
@@Unknown17 Thats catchy to be honest lol. Ridicularity. Get in touch with the people who make dictionaries.
@@kev792 I mean, the accepted word would be "ridiculousness," which is the very height of--well, you know!
Nicole Tepper isn't just the owner's wife, she's the Panthers' COO. Its not a red flag for her to be seen around the team and the execs.
Fr lol
A role she should not be in.
Why are we dancing around it? Frank wanted CJ and Tepper wanted Bryce, so we got Bryce
I swear Rich needs to actually call in Panthers beat writers to stop people like you from running misinformation campaigns. All of them say Frank wanted Bryce as did the GM (who actually made the decision).
@@unc54nah, you mustve missed seeing the dinner Young had with Tepper and his wife, and the pic of Young hugging Nicole Tepper at Alabama. The Teppers were all in on Young, regardless of what anyone said
@@haroldsfishingadventures754 Fr tepper wife wanted the "good kid"
@@haroldsfishingadventures754 And this is the problem right here. You're literally going off emotion than the facts. I don't doubt the Teppers liked Bryce but that doesn't mean they forced the pick on everyone else.
Rich, this has happened before. Doesn't anyone remember JaMarcus Russell.
Exactly. Held out until last game of his first season (2007) because those were the days before rookie contracts - his $60 contract is more than Bryce Young got! Played through 2008 where they had a coach change from Lane Kiffin to Tom Cable. About four games into 2009 they benched him and that was the end. Again an owner that made the pick - Al loved Russell's strong arm - and who was forever swapping coaches.
Find the video about JaMarcus and the DVD’s. I’m hoping Young isn’t THAT bad.
@@MichaelH416 The blank DVD story is an all-timer. I guess it's easier for a coach to sell benching the investment when you tell them that story
I really don’t get why everyone is acting so surprised, on this very channel, the comment was that Panthers didn’t even look competitive, the QB tape is horrendous, basically an injury waiting to happen, playing in an empty stadium because the fans don’t want to see this sh!t show, keep him playing for what? Text book sunk-cost fallacy. Regardless how we got here, benching him is the best for everyone involved, including Bryce Young….
Canales doesn’t want to get fired either I’m sure…like you stick with Bryce he plays bad for another season, you’re fired before the trade deadline or surely by the end of the year guaranteed. So…
This would make a lot more sense if Bryce was canned 6 weeks in.
Canales isn't benching Bryce to save his job in week 2
@@codyb.3015 see that would make more sense if Carolina had a rational, thoughtful, patient owner… instead of pouring drinks on fans and having tickets going for under $1 unable to fill even one section of the stadium
@@kieronmckay4276 Forget fired. Forget next year. There are 50+ other players to develop here. We need stability at QB for that to happen, baseline.
The contract of a head coach is guaranteed. If he gets fired he still gets paid. He may have a chance at another job if he can convince a team that the problem is all Tepper’s fault.
If Dalton can play solid and score points, which I'm confident he will, we can actually see Canales offense work. I saw his WR wide open and Bryce couldn't get the ball to them.
Young QB,young head coach ,young owner..all will have to learn and mature before any kind of success happens.
Not young owner. He has been an albatross over all our necks as Panthers fans since he bought the team. As a fan that as has to deal with him it is 100% Tepper fault.
@joeclaridy when I say young I mean newer.and yes he hasn't been a good owner by anymeans but he's only been a owner for 5 or so years which isn't very long.his best bet would be to sit back and stop trying to be so involved which I'm sure is not easy for someone that spent over a billion on an investment that's not being very productive at the moment
Its NO secret that Frank Reich didnt want Bryce. In fact, Frank tried to bench Bryce twice. Before the season even started. And again in week 3. Both times he was over ruled by Tepper. Frank wasnt fired for losing. Frank was fired for trying to protect Bryce from himself and protect the team from Bryce. Which ultimately seems to be what Tepper is finally allowing to be done.
Why does Rich constantly defend Tepper? Not a good look for The Rich Eisen Show. Tepper is the worst NFL owner ever, he’s impetuous and egotistical. 6 head coaches and 9 starting quarterbacks since he’s bought the team? Isn’t that enough evidence to prove it? So quit defending him, Rich.
Relax lol
Well, in court, that would be inadmissable as character evidence; so no, that is not enough evidence to prove it.
I agree. But players and coaches needs to accept more than half the blame. They get the credit when they win
Tribe loyalty duh
Those are exactly the reasons you might suspect Tepper didn't make the call to bench Bryce: 1) it would amount to Tepper admitting the whole trade was a mistake (which he doesn't generally do) and 2) it's the correct football decision (so he probably wasn't behind it).
CJ Stroud is SPECIAL.
Why doesn't it make sense Tepper wanted Bryce gone?
Makes more sense than the rookie HC telling the owner to get rid of him after 2 games.
Coach was worried about losing the room, there was a lot of visible frustration already and Bryce looked completely lost
Because Tepper looks even more incompetent than he already is if this was his call. He is credited with forcing the bad trade, forcing the pick, and credited with building two coaching staffs that were supposed to be single-mindedly dedicated to one task: help Young succeed.
If Tepper made the call to bench Young, it's an admission of error, which seems very out of character for Tepper.
The equivalent of a code red.
Maybe Dalton does it well or certainly better than he was & he sits behind and learns for a year or 2 and shows it by playing well in preseason & getting his 5th year picked up. Not a Carolina fan, but I always try to remain positive and be optimistic.
To this day, the only long standing, good Alabama quarterback was Ken Stabler. Stop drafting Alabama qbs so high. They're 3rd or 4th round picks. They're good because of the system.
Ken Stabler wasn’t the only one, Bart Starr and Joe Namath had good and long careers too
@@jefflee5047 all 3 are dead but would still have a higher passer rating than Bryce
Exactly!
I disagree with Albert in the Tua thing. We haven’t seen anything like this as far as coach, QB turnover and trash mgmt. also. Kyler seems to be doing okay as a short QB so don’t think that holds up
It's not his height. Kyler Murray can do it. This isn't a talent or team thing, it's a laws of physics thing, either someone at 5'10" can see the middle of the field or they can't and if one can do it all can do it. Russell Wilson can do it too. Most linemen towers over most QBs anyway, it doesn't matter if it's a couple inches or several, either you can see over something or you can't. Most QBs can't- they see through the line between the linemen. So it's not his height.
Kyler Murray ≠ Bryce Young
And if Bryce Young is 5'10", I am Luciano Pavarotti...
Bryce is even smaller than Kyler
Let’s rewind the tape to the draft b/c no one seems to remember when all the pundits said BY was going to a good situation, better than CJ?
Wasn't me. Stroud is accurate, big, fast and can make plays. Bryce is small, slow and can't.
I'm guessing Tepper set a win expectation for the year and notified Canales of said expectation.
Nothing surprising about Young failing.
The big majority of 1st Round QBs do fail the team which drafts them.
Does anybody know who the back up in Carolina even is right now?
Its Bryce Young apparently.
Or in college he had amazing WR and OL and RB which made his "reading of the game" and "analyzing the field" alot easier with very little pressure. Doesn't translate at all. He's just not a good NFL QB. And once Dalton gets on the field this will be proven. If they made that trade and picked CJ Stroud, they would all be saying they are geniuses. So keep mentioning the trade is not valid in that they getting a franchise QB is critical in the NFL and it was worth the shot. They just chose wrong. QB's game not translating the NFL is a story that's been told over and over even amongst ultra high picks.
Exactly, it’s not an exact science.
I think the Stroud people were ex NFL QBs who were fired mid season last year.
I would still like to know if he choose young over stroud when the whole fanbase wanted Stroud to begin with
It’s not like Bryce was a fifth round prospect. Some teams wanted to trade up to get him
🙄 Bryce's current film is practically the same film he put up last year. 🤦 Physically, Bryce is the same as he was in Alabama. 🤯 Psychologically, Bryce cannot adapt to the NFL, but every deficiency Breer mentioned (pushing the ball down field, not seeing over the middle of the field, and bad internal clock along with bad footwork) can theoretically be coached out of him and/or be compensated with play designs. 🙍 Benching Bryce is a vote on "no confidence" in him and an indication the HC, OC, GM, and Tempest Tepper, have just about given up on him as their franchise QB, and maybe, they are correct. 🙅 However, neither Bryce nor the Panthers gain anything meaningful from this short-sighted decision. 🙎 If he is the Panthers' future, Bryce needs to be "coached up" and play through his psychological hangups and get a chance to defeat some weak teams in the schedule, such as the Raiders, Redskins, Broncos, and Giants, before the Bye Week.
i hate how some media tries to say the organization failed him or he wasnt ready to start, like it happens all the time in the nfl dumpster fire teams will go and draft qbs at #1 and throw them in week 1 but they never have nothing to say about it until a #1 qb does bad and gets benched then want to put all the blame on coaches and everyone else except the qb himself. then they try to compare him to baker mayfield, bro mayfield came in right after the browns went 0-16 he was a starter from day 1 went 6-10 the next year he lead his team to a wild card spot and even beat the steelers in that time, there is no comparison. you cant be a nfl qb and go from bad 1 year to worse the next and with a better o line, and the pff has panthers o line ranked high after these 2 games. bryce just aint it
Uh...no he didn't, he started on like Week 3 or 4. Plus, his team was stacked with good players. Now, I love Baker Mayfield but their situations were not exactly the same.
Bryce ain’t it , you right
@@sportsadictgirl mayfield played all but 2 games which my point is he was played and thrown on the field his rookie year, what others and media are trying to say bryce was starting to soon that he needed time when it happens all the time and hes suppose to be this football genius. what team did the browns have in 2018? I wouldnt call having jarvis landry nick chubb who was a rookie and did not know if he would be good and garrett a stacked team
When the boss is an integral art of choosing a high impact employee and that guy doesn’t deliver he HAS EVERY F RIGHT to ask/demand to bench/fire him.
What do u do if Dalton gets smoked ? You bring in a benched BY ?
Tepper had doubled the value of the Panthers since buying, hopefully he sells soon and makes off with $3 billion and gets tf outta Carolina
Nicole tepper was at CJ pro day go find the Tape
Omg is this what y'all saw when we had Snyder? So glad we are on the outside
Just admit the truth like the Panthers have- Bryce is a bust the end!
Rich why is it so confusing to you? Bryce was playing terribly. Tepper didn't make the decision in this case.
Tepper needs to sell the team!
Why is this concept so hard for rich to understand
Young was benched because he is terrible. Coaching staff saw the tape on Monday and realized how bad it was... nothing more than this. Has nothing to do with Tepper or the organization.
Rich must want stock tips from Tepper...talk to any Panther's fan in the Carolina's. No one likes Tepper and we wish he would sell the team. No doubt in my mind Tepper atleast had a part in benching him. He's afraid of season ticket holders cancelling their PSL's and the stadium is more empty than last year. It's only about the money for him.
I don't get the willingness to carry water for Tepper. Yes Rich, you're being naive on Tepper's role in this. Breer's comment is classic No I don't think Tepper pushed the button, but if people know what their Boss wants they tend to act accordingly. But that's not pressing the button? Unreal. Meanwhile., the whole reason they Drafted Young was Tepper.
Carolina got screwed by the NFL allowing this guy to buy the team this was once a proud well run organization under jerry Richardson they made 4 NFC championship games with two superbowl appearances in their first 23 years of existence every since tepper they've been abysmal
Thats not on the NFL...the only person to blame is Tepper himself because he doesn't know how to be a patient and competent owner. Remember he picked Bryce and traded up to get him because his wife liked him.
@b00biejingles the NFL approves who can and can't buy a team they don't just sell to anyone this guy is one of the richest owners he's the new daniel Snyder and he has ruined this franchise
@@travistaylor4342 I get that but again I'm not sure how that's on the league just solely on the fact they approve and deny who can own teams. In case you forgot Tepper was a minority owner of the Steelers prior to becoming the owner of the Panthers so I'm sure that made him a shoo in compared to any other potential candidate. It's just a series of unfortunate events if you ask me but at the end of the day I still think it falls on Tepper because all he has to do is stop meddling and interfering and let the personnel do their jobs.
Richardson played in the NFL. Tepper watched it on TV
Dave Canales is taller than Bryce. I'm sure Dave could play QB and let Bryce coach
People need to look at it like this....would you play a injured/compromised QB? BY is not physically injured but he is MENTALLY. His confidense is shot and they have been playing him when he's a qb that would benefit a ton sitting a year or two to gain confidense in a system. Ideally you do that BEFORE you ruin his confidense but hey that works in the Marines so....🤷♂️😅
Andy Dalton ate
At the end of the day, the NFL draft is a gamble. It’s no guarantees
His parallel is David Carr. Carr got killed on the expansion Texans and never recovered! He shouldn't have started last year behind that line. Now they've ruined him! When a guy starts staring at the rush, that's a sign of someone who has been hit too much!
The Panthers are going NOWHERE this season, let the kid learn from his mistakes.
Rich seems extremely biased to the point of appearing comically stupid about this. Is Tepper paying him or what?
100%
80-90% roster turnover seems a bit…. high?
TUA looks like his career will be short given his size and the concussions which is a real problem. The Panthers have weakened the team to fit Young in.
I just wanted to keep Baker Mayfield
The logic is simple.... Bryce Young is not good enough or experienced enough to help a badly constructed roster. It's not a good idea to have him playing right now. Same with most rookies, they need to learn first.
The Panther line is horrible for no matter who you put in. How is New England now that Mac is gone? Bryce has gotten scared of getting killed. Wait until the red rocket gets hurt
Bryce's re-entry point cannot be this season!!!
It certainly will be if The Red Rifle gets hurt...
If Daniel Jones can play, then Bryce can play…
The NFL need to stop taking QBs that are under 6 foot tall. Drew Brees and Kyler Murray are anomalies. Baker was a 2nd round talent or late 1st. This poor kid is in a David Carr situation. Although he might be a complete bust
DJ AINT HAPPY WITH CALEB RIGHT NOW,I KNOW HE FEEL LIKE IN CAROLINA

Why do you get Bryce Young a first year coach, why not someone with more experience?
Has nothing to do with that. Canelas is a QB coach.
@@IceWhiteice22 maybe he's good at that when that's all he has to do, maybe he's overloaded by dealing with everything a Head coach has to deal with

Bryce would be owing the Panthers for his "performance"
Bryce looked horrible out there and you got all these people out here defending him smh 🤦🏾♂️
Tepper is all over this, code Red.
If he was gonna get benched after 2 games for playing bad, then he shouldn't have started those games to begin with, and just sophomore redshirted behind Andy, because it was entirely predictable he would play bad. You let him play bad and develop all year or you redshirt him all year. All this did was shatter confidence for no good reason.
David Tepper has replace the departed Dan Snyder as the worst NFL owner!
Serious question, not trying to be snarky or denigrate Breer. Why don’t reporters in these interviews just say “I have no idea whether or not Tepper ordered Bryce Young be benched”? Do they not want to sound like their sources are bad? Do they not want to indirectly reveal sources (so if they don’t know then maybe they don’t have a close source so that narrows down the list of who their sources are)? I am getting a little annoyed at these circumspect answers and I’m just wondering if I need to treat it as a fact of the business
Only the panthers rational lets expose the guy, throw him under the bus and then on top of that blame him, we traded the farm to get him but we didn’t think he needed a no.1 WR…? Or OL? Oh maybe a few plays here and there he actually likes??! No can’t do that. Just baffling how they do business anymore as a fanatic of the team it’s so irritating like CMC, Moore, burns, Luvu, chinn, just a few names like these guys should not be elsewhere how can we honestly look at our roster and be like yeah I’m good 😂💀 okay this ownership has got to go I cannot believe this is the reality they live in right now
I knew this was going to happen, and I gotta say, the Panthers are the worst run organization right now. They don't know what the ef they're doing. Flying by the seat of their pants. If they're so impatient to move right off Bryce Young, then they deserve how bad they're going to be for years to come. You're looking for someone to come right in and save your bad team? Well, guess what, it doesn't work like that, and even if they drafted Stroud, he woudn't be doing as great with Carolina as he's been with Houston. They should look at the Detroit model and start building from the trenches up. You might have to be really bad for a couple of years, but start building the right way instead of switching out coaches and QBs every year expecting something magical to happen.
David Tepper ordered the Code Red.
Breer is good, but too biased for my liking.
That an owner's wife has a say in the decision processes is one of the biggest problems right there. Who cares if he's a "nice young man"? Can he play ball? That's what should be the focus. Tepper is a clown.
