I'm sorry... But this debate over which game is easier, can be settled scientifically and mathematically very easily. First, Have any of you read "Men at Work" by George Will? Read that before you embarrase yourselves further. That's just book. Easy to read. But first, we're talking about in one game, hitting the ball with a wide flat surface in a 360 degree field. As opposed to hitting a round ball 8n a 90 degree field. Right there , baseball wins the argument. But let's go further... In Cricket, you have 11 fielders in that 360 degree field. In baseball, there are 8 in a 90 degree. Therefore, the odds of the ball dropping between fielders is four times as great in Cricket as in Baseball. It would be the equivalent of 32 fielders in the circle. Again Baseball wins. In baseball, players are specialized by position. You don't have left fielders coming in to pitch. Why not? Because a left fielder, or a shortstop or any other position is not as good at pitching as a pitcher who does it full time, has studied his craft. In Cricket, everybody is a pitcher at some point....If they was any good, you'd only have the best one out there, not a collective. When's the last time you saw a Cricket player strike out? I mean take three swings and miss? Or even one swing? It rarely happens. That's because it's easier to make contact with a bowled ball . The percentages are almost infinitely higher in Cricket than Baseball. And I'll end with this... In Cricket ,there's only two stations to defend. In baseball there's four.much more complexity . The difference between a 2-1 count with a man on second base, and 0-2 count with a man on first can be expodential. Nuance...Baseball is a game of infinite nuance that can never be mastered. Cricket is nothing more than Home Run Derby.

I have a few theories as to why every baseball player has to wear gloves. Keep in mind I've done zero research for this and you're welcome to call me out on my bullshit 1. For protection- Like the video said gloves are used to protect the fielders' hands not just from fly balls, but from throwing the ball to the other fielder. Imagine you have to catch a ball thrown by your teammate at 80+mph it's less dangerous if you caught it with a glove compared to catching with your bare hands. That's why positions like 1st base and catcher have thicker gloves because the ball is usually thrown to them the most. Not to mention that if a baseball is coming straight at a pitcher, he would have a better chance avoiding any injuries if he had a glove on. 2. Reduce errors- Cricket players have my utmost respect for being able to make bare handed catches, but let's not pretend they do it every time an opportunity presents itself. From what I've seen, runs are more frequent in cricket than baseball so they more often than not aren't able to consistently make those catches. 3. To hide pitches from the batter (pitchers only)- Pitchers wear gloves not only to catch but to hide the way they grip the baseball. If the batter can see the grip, they can know what type of pitch is coming and will be prepared for it and will likely hit a homerun. Just ask the Houston Astros.

Ok so let me destroy a few of your points: 1. In cricket only the wicket keeper wears gloves. No one else. While in baseball everyone does. You don't need the person standing towards the outer ring to wear a glove unless you don't know how to catch a ball. 2. It's not all about speed and the size of the bat. Cricket bat is wider because the ball bounces. Adding a lot of uncertainty over the trajectory of the ball. Much easier to predict if it's just in the air. Shoaib akhtars 100mph ball is hence much tougher to play and requires a higher reaction time (since the bounce is also unpredictable) than the 105mph ball coming at you dead straight as a bullet. These are two different sports. You can't compare apples to oranges.
baseball requires gloves because they need to catch not just batted balls but also the balls from outfield, they throw it to first, second and third base to beat the runner

That's a very bizarre statement to make since the points system is totally different. So you can't really talk about the ease of obtaining points, without factoring in that points have different values between the sports. You only get 1 Run in Baseball for completing a entire lap around diamond. Whereas in Cricket, you can get a Run for every time you run from wicket to wicket. A Home Run in Baseball is equivalent to a 6 in Cricket also, but one gives you 6 points and the other only gives 1 point. But even then it's complicated because you can score a lot of points in Baseball if the bases are loaded when the Home Run is hit, whereas the maximum you can score in Cricket is a 6 Run (which in terms of impact on the overall score of the game is significantly less than a Home Run with loaded bases.)
Never compare two sports by their scores,😂 because the method of calculation is much different 😂and not to mention, your opponent too can make runs if it's easy in cricket,
hello ninh, i absolutely love your videos. just a small thing, you could have mentioned that cricket bowlers arent allowed to straighten their arms fully when bowling compared to pitchers. this is in context of the fastest deliveries in each sport.
To balance that why do you not state that a bowler takes around 15 metres of running up as part of the delivery. Do you not think it assists with the momentum.
I felt that at first and it took about like a month to actually understand, but I can say I really like it and watching a t20 or one day game is a good introduction
Hey Ninh, small correction the distance between the batter and the bowler release point in cricket is about 17.68 as the batter stands at the crease and the bowler releases at the popping crease rather than the wicket to wicket you showed.
In cricket, speed of the ball doesn’t matter ! Its ‘ball moving’ while in air or after bouncing is what matters which is manipulated by bowler (pitcher). Ball changing trajectory after release in air is called ‘swinging’ (various types of swinging is ‘in swing’,’out swing’, ’reverse swing’ its all physics. final trajectory is different from anticipated trajectory by batter if the ball swings which beats the batter & he can get out at this, this ball is bowled by fast bowler. Another typeof bowler is spin bowler,he turns the ball after bouncing which again beats the batter.

I am not fussed with which game is chosen, I have coached both for decades. In my experience baseball is great for teaching teamsmanship It is the only sport I know where there is an official statistic for a player sacrificing their turn at bat for the benefit of advancing a runner on base. There is a letter written by great Australian cricketer Victor Trumper in 1915 held in a Sydney Museum. It was written by a kid asking for advice on how to improve his cricket game. Victor recommended taking up baseball to help improve aspect such as focusing on the ball for hitting and especially elements of throwing and fielding. Trumper was also a very good baseball player playing in his off season. Letter can be found with a search.

This guy gets his “facts” from a video made by ESPN (biased much?) using an American cricketer who is worse than any schoolboy in a proper cricket playing country.
The ESPNvideo shown at around 1 minute actually claims batting in cricket is harder because the batsman has to determine where the ball will bounce and judge what happens when it does bounce and they have less time.
@@currywithstheshotboy3619 I have no doubt that the best professional cricket players could make it in MLB in some capacity. I've played both games at a modest amateur level and in my experience, it's easier to be competitive at baseball than it is in cricket. Without question, baseball pitching and hitting is faster than cricket and the ball gets hit longer. However, in cricket, only the wicketkeeper (akin to the catcher) wears gloves. Otherwise, fielding is with your bare hands and fielders can stand much closer than baseballers do. When batting in cricket, you expect the ball to hit you. If you're a good batsman, you welcome the ball being directed at your body. In baseball, you lose your shit if the pitcher tries to hit you. Good video, but don't mislead the uninitiated. You don't throw a ball at a batsman in cricket - throwing is illegal You could be out if the ball strikes your leg, given certain criteria Nowadays you can't just target the batsman's head. There are rules to control that
Many people like to comment re "branding" a runner with the ball....It comes from the game of Rounders which many like to think was the basis of baseball. It was a rule of that game that hitting a runner with the ball in between one of the ten "stations"was a legitimate out. Of course rules changed when baseball's rules were compiled but the action of tagging a baserunner in today's game is thought to be a hang over. You are correct in saying game umpires have absolute control over deliveries that target head area.
Nothing said about the effect the pitch has on a cricket ball. How a full pitched standard delivery in baseball is looked on as a " bad" ball in cricket. Cricket batsman have to constantly react to the varying bounce and deflection of the ball of the ground or pitch, both from fast and spin bowlers.
Like the commentator said it is pointless trying to compare the two sports because they are so different. Top speeds of bowlers and pitchers are similar but the pitcher delivers the ball from around 10% or 6ft nearer the batter than in cricket so that reduces the batters reaction time. However the cricket batsman has to react to the ball being bowled into the pitch at varying speeds and distances from him. Imagine a baseball pitcher doing the same and the batter still trying to react to a ball rising at him off the ground. So how can you compare the two sports? Both have very different challenges and are entertaining in their own right.
@Parker P. Like the commentator said it is pointless to compare the two sports because they are so different. Top speeds of both pitchers and bowlers are similar but pitchers deliver the ball approximately 10% or 6ft nearer than a bowler which reduces the batters reaction time. However in cricket the batsman has to react to the ball bouncing of the ground at various distances and speeds from him. Imagine a batter in baseball having to do the same with a ball rising at him off the ground. Impossible to compare. Both sports are entertaining and each set of supporters will always say their sport is best.
@Parker P. Correct. But the whole idea of cricket is that the batter is challenged to go on and on batting-not just three swings. So obviously this can only happen if hitting the ball and staying at bat is somewhat easier on a one pitch versus one ball basis.
@Parker P. Excellent observation! Clearly you are someone who can hit the ball every single time with that huge bat. It would be a good idea to get in touch with one of the IPL teams and tell them of your ability never to miss the ball and go out, ever. I'm sure they'll sign you up straight away. You'll make millions! I look forward to seeing you on TV.
@Parker P. It's a big bat because you're supposed to try to keep on and on batting. Cricket is not just about three swings. The at bat is meant to be much longer, so you have to have to make conditions more favorable for the batter. And don't worry, I know hitting a baseball is like trying to catch a bullet with your teeth! Not trying to minimize the difficulty of baseball at all.
I remember playing a game of cricket and the bowler just kept bowling bouncers at me. Got hit three times on my left shoulder before I got sick of it and just started pulling everything he pitched short. Of course it was only about three boundaries later before I mistimed it and sent the ball straight to a fielder :(
@@hinduskigaandchodo336 They’re hitting his shoulder not passing over them. The balls’s he’s talking about are not really bouncers but just regular short balls
Cricket fans never complain about the gloves on the hands of catcher(baseball). They complain about gloves on the hands of outfielders in baseball. This was not a proper take. A more proper justification would be that, in baseball the play doesn't end if you catch the ball, you still have to throw it back. So you catch the ball with your non-dominant hand, hence the glove. Then quickly transfer the ball to your other hand for a quick throw.
Yes, and it's still a pointless argument. A wicket keeper wears gloves to do his job better. Baseball players do the same. If you arm Cricket fielders with gloves, they'd get more outs. The different rules of each game dictates how it's played and they CANNOT be compared. That's the point.
@@NinhLyUK and that was the point i was trying to make. To make the comparison an apples to oranges comparsion, because different rules. On the other hand, if i was a cricket fan trashing on baseball for gloves, i would never buy the: "oh, but wicketkeeper has gloves" argument, simply because you are looking at gloves used by a person who has to catch balls for hours, and in the original format, for days on end. Using JUST this to justify the gloves for outfielders is like advocating marathon gear for a sprinter. It simply wont sell.
I’m born in Bangladesh so we don’t exactly play Baseball but I’m a heart-and-soul Cricket guy. But I still have always been fascinated by Baseball when I used to see anime characters play it as a child and people at the Olympics play it when I became a bit older. I’ve tried baseball as well and it’s pretty fun. But I like the more strategic batting options of cricket. I love it when the bat hits the ball with a _tong_ as the batsman plays a classy cover-drive which races to the boundaries for a four more than when a baseball batsman hits a ball with all his might to send it out of the stadium. I like cricket better, but baseball is nice too.
Great answer. It's not a bad thing to like and appreciate both sports. Sadly most of the commenters on here (mainly from India) aren't as smart as you.
@@biswaranjanmallick7407 I'm failing to see much bias if any in this video. He owns this channel so I'm sure he can make an educated guess of negative comments with metrics of viewers here so 🤷

Very minor correction 4:32 "a bowler can bounce the ball at your head with every ball and it'd be perfectly acceptable" - not true. Such a ball is called a "bouncer" and since 1991 there's been a restriction on how many you can bowl per over; currently you're allowed two per over in Test and ODI, and one per over in T20.
Cricket is way better cuz firstly, it's not that we make fun of safety measures, but it makes a lot more entertaining. Cricketers have to practice everyday to master fielding to be able to successfully catch the ball. While baseball players just have gloves which makes it a whole lot easier. A baseball ball is actually also a lot lighter and softer than a cricket ball so it even more impressive. Also, baseball is majorly played in only the USA. That's why there is no wc and even if there is, nobody cares cuz only usa playes. Cricket is the second biggest sport in the world, played in all South Asia like India, pak, sro Lanka, etc and also played in UK, Australia, South Africa, new Zealand, Netherlands, etc. Cricket is just more dangerous so it adds another significant twist to the game. It makes the sport harder.
This is how I know u only know about cricket and didn't even bother to look up where baseball is played, 1. Yes, MLB is the top league in baseball, as it is the NBA and NHL. But there are multiple leagues around Asia, Oceania, Americas and Europe that practice baseball for clubs. That's the key difference, baseball is a CLUB dominated sport, so it would be kinda stupid if MLB was the only Major league (its not). In terms of leagues comparable to MLB, the NPB KBO and MBL are all major leagues, with various lesser known major leagues from Italy to Australia. 2. International competition for baseball has existed since the 1930s. In fact, it was an an Olympic sport from 1992-2008 and again in 2020 and 2028, cricket will only make its debut in the olympics in 2028. I will say that international baseball is not very prominent, but for the exact opposite reason you just stated. The sole reason why baseball lacks in international play at least in the senior level is because american players REFUSED to play. That's like if Australia just stopped playing joining cricket tournaments. MLB teams did not want their players playing for USA Baseball because they thought it was a waste of time and risk injuries, so they actively pushed against using senior-level players from playing for country, while every other nation sent their best players and were angry that the US didn't. Baseball does have a world cup, called a Classic every four years, 2023 broke an insane amount of records in viewership, sales, and profits because it was the first tournament where the best US players actually decided to play for the country. Its akin to when the Olympics allowed the Dream Team to get together. So no, its not because it was only USA players, it was because it was everyone BUT USA players. 3. All the countries besides the Dutch are former colonies of Britain within the past 200 years. So while it is a worldwide sport, that's a huge caveat that needs to be understood. Because outside the commonwealth, its not popular at all. Saying its the second biggest sport is also kind of funny considering one country makes up 3/4th of the fan base. I wonder who that is. Baseball at least has better distribution, with big countries like Japan, US, Mexico, Korea and alot of smaller ones like the Caribbean nations. It also didn't involve the US colonizing places in order to spread it, in fact most of the nations that love the sport were created by introductions by US teachers/missionaries teaching the game or expats returning from the US to their native country. East Asia, The Americas and parts of Europe and Oceania play baseball at a senior level.
Hi I'm Tom from Birmingham (Alabama), its clear baseball is the better sport Hi I'm Tom from Birmingham (England), its clear cricket is the better sport
It's also clear that both are objectively wrong, but are entitled to their subjective opinions. But yes, I actually agree with your statement - it paints reality.
In cricket, the batsmen (batters), have to deal with both the swing and seaming/spinning impact of the ball with the air and the pitch, respectively. In baseball, batters doesn't need to deal with the ball's impact with the ground, because that'd be considered a ball call in baseball. Batters in baseball just need to deal with ball's swinging impact with the air. That's less headache than cricket.
I used to play rugby as a kid and would always listen to things like this being said about American football. People used to talk about how inferior football was because players wore pads and helmets or because the games were shorter, and didn't understand that they were just two different sports with completely different sets of skills required. As for baseball and cricket, I like baseball (go Yankees!) and would love to enjoy cricket, but they don't broadcast games in my country.
These are great Cricket UA-cam channels to watch cricket 1. Cricket.com.au (Australian Cricket) 2. NZC( New Zealand Cricket) 3. England and Wales Cricket Board 4. ICC ( international cricket council) All of them have UA-cam Channels
Both cricket and baseball are great sports, but in my personal opinion, cricket offers a wider range of variety in both batting and bowling. There are numerous different types of shots and various bowling styles in cricket. The argument that baseball's fastest pitch reached 105mph is impressive, but it would not be feasible for a baseball pitcher to reach the 100mph speed of a cricket bowler while adhering to the legal bowling action. In baseball, the ball doesn't touch the ground, and the pitcher throws it with full force by bending their elbow. In cricket, attaining top speed is much more challenging as compared to baseball. Bowlers are not allowed to bend their elbows, and the ball touches the ground during delivery. Despite these constraints, they can still bowl at speeds exceeding 95 mph, which is truly phenomenal when compared to baseball.
people always overlook the fielding aspect of the two games when comparing them. cricket is more difficult but baseball requires more thought and wittiness.
Yeah bowlers can still throw that fast because of the runup. But please, thats an unnecessary comparison. We can say it back by saying lets see your cricket bowler pitch 105mph with bent elbow without a runup,.. right? I can also say lets see your cricket batter hit a 450ft homerun with a round bat. It needs perfect contact to get the proper launch angle. Thats why its unnecessary comparison. It takes different muscles/technique to do different actions. We should appreciate each sports unique feats of athleticism.
I'm an American who grew up watching and playing baseball and I've recently come to enjoy cricket as well. They're both great sports, these trolls need to stop comparing the two and just enjoy them! Also go Cardinals and go Sixers
Yes I totally agree. Sadly you always get haters hating, and it's pretty funny to see them arguing the toss over something menial. Go Jays, Go Raptors.
Don't know anything about baseball but how the hell do they throw balls at 92mph just standing (no run-up). Respect!!! Edit : There are people in replies saying they are bending their arms. You know what, you try throwing ball at that speed by bending your arm most probably you will jerk your elbow or shoulder
Theyre allowed to bend their arms, so I guess that makes it a bit easier, but its still incredible how fast they deliver with no run up or hurling their bodies.
In baseball, it is just about hitting the ball. In cricket, it is more about placing the ball, hitting hard is just one part of the game. You would not understand the game if you just watched it on youtube. To fully understand the game you have to watch a 5 day test match. And you would understand the concept of placing the ball. Both the bollar and batsman have to place the ball for maximum results. T20 cricket is not real cricket it is just an entertainment sport.
im sorry but the same can be said for baseball. you cant understand it by watching it. both sports require you to play for years on order to understand them.
Zoltan M Due to recent gaelic football the addition of an offensive mark its easy comparison to make The main fundamental differences 1 the ball 2 the tackle 3 shape of field They are many small differences ,but these are the differences that really make the games different ,there is also the amateur vs professional, but that is not quite as important as one would think given how much time gaelic footballers devote to training and the popularity of the sport in ireland which had the highest tv viewership for its championship game of any sports event this year
Very well done, Ninh. Social media has amplified "apples vs. lemons" comparisons beyond belief. It only demonstrates the infantile need for some people to argue about something, anything for no better reason than to hear the sound of their own voices while pretending to 'take a stand' or 'debate something really important'. That kind of behavior is tearing civilized society apart these days, and it will end up biting all of us in the backside if we don't start dialing it back. Here endeth the rant.
Yes, I absolutely agree! It's even worse when it comes to politics or 'social issues'. The world really has gone mad - and social media is its engine. Thanks!
Well said..,it's largely the schoolboy thing...mine's bigger than yours!!! Everything I do must be better than everyone else. coming from an ol' codger.
Different games, different rules. Pointless to compare them. Cricket is about skill, technique, strategy, endurance and adoption. Baseball is about power and timing. There are too many types of deliveries in cricket: fast, slow, in-swing, out-swing, reverse-swing, yorker, bouncer, leg-spin, off-spin, googly, flipper, top-spin, slider, zooter, doorsra, and more. Now add pitch condition (dry, wet, grassy, flat, bouncy, cracked, smooth), weather, wind, new ball vs old ball, line, length, and many other variables to it. It just gets mind boggling for the batter. There's no prediction. The batter must react in fraction of a second. Baseball doesn't have all that. There is one plane where the batter needs to focus and swing. There is much talk about how the cricket bat is wider and flatter and so easy to hit the ball, and "give a cricket bat to a baseball player and he'll hit every pitch". I don't think they can, because the average cricket bat is at least 20% heavier than the average baseball bat; making it that much slower to swing. Its weight, balance, size and shape impact the reaction time drastically, so no, I don't believe a baseball player can hit better using a cricket bat. It'll be worse for him. Cricket bats are designed that way for several reasons. One of them is so the batter can protect himself because in cricket, it is perfectly legal for the bowler to aim the batter's body. Imagine if doing so is legal in baseball and the bat is still the same. This is not to ridicule baseball, but just to show how different are the two games and how biased is this video.
It is difficult for a fielder to catch the ball in cricket when compared to baseball you should not insult people who point that out in the name of safety
5:46 - That argument is just pure ignorance. For a bowler or batsman, wicketkeeper or fielder, different skills and more selective skill set is desirable. It is not easy to bowl in cricket or as I heard in baseball. So no comparisons there i agree. Cricket is a larger version of the game compared to baseball and to pitch for an entire day oozes the blood off you. To bowl specific line and length is to think intelligently and "predict" batsman's next move by analyzing his performance and mindset. Cricket is not an easy game and neither seems baseball from my watching the basics of baseball. It seems very very difficult to score a single run in baseball and fast action makes the ball almost impossible to hit. In cricket the bowler has to run or trot to the crease to bowl while thinking of a strategy , which is too much work literally for a single bowl.
😂they have come with predertermined mindset they will show edge to baseball over cricket😂 By watching their video,i get to lnow, even 4-5 year old in ind-aus-eng kid know better cricket than this so called analysist🤣
Baseball is harder to play overall, cause, it isn't only hitting (that It is super difficult already) and there are several type of pitch (curveball, slider, sinker, spliter, change-up, and derivates of them like Slurve) makes it even harder, whatever, baseball you have to field and run, that part to me baseball is more difficult than cricket. Thats why baseball players looks more athletic or bigger than a cricket player. They have to developt power (physical) to be good, because you need to have strength to at least move the ball from infield or run the bases (the bases look close but they are not). And if we talk about being a pitcher in baseball, it's a totally different conversation.
@Cricket Explained ok but not as much than baseball because we have more seams in the ball (4-seam fastball, 2-seam fastball, sinker, spliter, slider, curveball, knuckecurve, changeup, forkball, swepper, slurve, cutter). Like it said the fielding on baseball is harder, look the infield fielding of baseball you have to catch 90mph+ balls (no homo lol) and throw, of course we uses gloves cause the exit velocity off bat of those balls are insane, more than in cricket (regular exit velo in cricket is 85mph in baseball is 103mph), so those balls are like a bullet in your hand. And for last, we have to run, thats make the baseball more athletic than cricket. You guys in cricket run a less distance than baseball bases and we have to run to steal base too.
In cricket you can bowl with too many variations let me tell you for fast bowlers inswing, outwing, leg cutter, off cutter, slow ball, reverse swing, yorker, bouncers, good length, straight, fastball, knuckle ball, back of the hand and for spinners leg spin, off spin, googly, doosra, flight and if you consider fielding easy in cricket watch top ten catches or fielding in cricket you will know and assume anything if don't know
Don't yap about strength,a cricket bat is more than 4 times heavier than a baseball bat, plus the flat edges leads to MUCH more air resistance and hence, much much Harder to swing 😂 Pls don't get me started on this, In baseball, a ball can swing (in the air) and be slow or fast, But in cricket, a ball can swing (in air) a ball can swing (after bounce,)in any direction, a ball can swing MORE, a ball can spin (in any direction) after bounce, a ball can drift (change direction in the air before spinning),a ball can stay low(become slow after bouncing) a ball can stick to the surface (also change in speed) and what not
Play with tennis ball cricket !! Dont play with professional stone cricket ball And dont watch noobs expert videos like this. Facing 90 -100mph in baseball in different. Facing 90+ mph in cricket is different thing .
because when you dive to catch a ball if you have glove it's much more easier to catch but with bare hand and without gloves you can imagine and you have to catch a ball without stepping out of boundary area in baseball you can catch everywhere
The ball which don't not touch the ground we call it fulltoss in cricket and fulltoss ball is the easiest ball to hit. Hitting cricket ball is hard because lots of variation in balling style. Yorker, slowball,Cutter, offspin, legspin, dousra there are lots of types. After touching the ground which way ball will turn you don’t know, and its the most crucial part of hitting a ball, aslo sudden slow or fastball also critical to heat.
Honestly, it all depends, on what you grew up watching or played when you were young. I've grown up and lived with baseball my whole life, so I prefer it. But, seriously anyone who says its definitively better than cricket or vice-versa is just a jackass. Its a completely subjective thing, we like what we like. Why should we give a damn that some person likes something else better. Some people just need a life I guess.
That's precisely the point I was trying to make in this video. I could not have said this better myself. That said ... there's already been a few fanboys arguing the toss on here. It's fun to destroy haters!
Baseball is my absolute favorite sport. I've always loved watching it, following it, and playing it. Maybe I should give cricket a try, it seems interesting
I've always heard Americans complain that a cricket game is too long, but after spending some time in the US and getting into baseball I realised that is a bit hypocritical too. What about the insanely long baseball season, where teams nearly play a game every day? It felt similar to me to a test match when two teams would play each other multiple days in a row.
Worth mentioning that baseball evolved with gloves for those safety reasons you mentioned, but if you suddenly took the gloves away now it would be a much different game and it would be much harder to record outs. It wouldn't be baseball anymore, even if you ignore safety considerations altogether. It totally hinges on the rules about how outs are recorded. Gloves are 100% necessary for that.
That's correct, and you could also argue that if Cricket fielders wore gloves, they'd get more outs too and games would be shorter - which would change the dynamic of the game.
@@NinhLyUK Wicket Keeper is the only one who wears gloves. fielders Do not wear Gloves in Cricket only Keeper does that is the reason Baseball is a stupid game. Do the proper research on Cricket man. you have done a video on cricket without researching it nerd.

I'm very biased towards football, think it's the best sport of all, but just because I'm biased shouldn't mean when I'm presenting differences, I leave out important parts, which is clearly what you did and you know it because you're biased.
Great video! I’m always impressed by how well you understand American sports when as an American myself I have no idea how non-American sports are played!
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO! I am a cricket fan, I don't watch baseball but I do see many cricket fans just shit baseball and make some absurd comments, it's infuriating.
"It's easier to score runs in cricket." I do think we can give the baseball fans this one. In a typical baseball game, there are usually less than ten runs scored, total. In cricket games, there are *hundreds* of runs scored. But like you said, they're two completely different sports.
I think what I was trying to say is that it's not easier to play the ball just because it's physically easier to hit. When a batter can face balls coming in from any direction and bowlers are trying to hit you, it's certainly not "easy" as the the baseball fans suggest. But running one length of a pitch vs. 4 lengths of a diamond is easier - but that's just variance of rules.
Valiant effort but still sooo off with the facts about cricket...Baseball is sure not easy but certainly doesn't have the dynamics, variety, environmental factors that is a central part of Cricket
There's a significant south asia community in my hometown but I don't know about any cricket team. Besides been closer to the USA, Mexico has 3 professional baseball leagues and a lot of semi-professional and amateur leagues, so I know more abut baseball. We know about cricket but it's not a popular sport in Mexico.
@@NinhLyUK Are you trying to catch us out and see if we are paying attention.? For your info. the very first international cricket game was played between the USA and Canada back in the 1840's. There are about as many nations playing international cricket as there are baseball playing nations. Look up under global national associations.
I have been a lifelong cricket fan. Have also enjoyed soccer when Barca plays it. Having been living in the US Midwest for more than 2 years now, I have certainly become a huge American football fan lately because my colleagues I interact with in the lab have mostly been Americans. But most of them were never interested in baseball. However, I have one friend who enjoys baseball and asked me more than a month ago if he could come over to my place to watch 2 of the MLB world series games this time. The reason was that my property management provides the channel that streams MLB, for free. So I agreed to have some beer and watch it with him. I watched Ninh's 'Rules of baseball' video before that and we watched the last two games where the Dodgers won it. Although those are the only 2 baseball games I have ever watched, but they were definitely interesting from my perspective, even though those were 2 of the most interesting games this season according to him. I would say that baseball has its own vibe and is very different from cricket. People with different tastes might like one over the other. For me personally, I get similar vibes to T20 cricket when I watch American football at times, because both in T20 and American football, the game can sharply change within a span of 10 minutes! Having said that, I would also like to mention that even to me (who is a lifelong cricket fan), sometimes T20 and test cricket kinda seem two very different sports, rather than just 2 different formats, haha! Before all these happened, I was sorta prejudiced about baseball cause most young Americans I met before that, talked rubbish about baseball. But I definitely enjoyed those two games and it sorta changed my perspective. Nevertheless, the games go on. Each of them has their own vibes, be it T20 or baseball or football or test cricket or soccer. If you don't like one, then don't waste your precious times typing rubbish about it on social media. As simple as that. For me though, cricket, football and soccer are probably the top three. But I enjoy watching other sports as well. Point to be mentioned: This video was a good job, Ninh. Could have added a few more points such as difficulties in playing sharp spin balls in cricket and curve balls in baseball...
Thanks. That was the point I was trying to make on this video: that it's pointless trying to compare the two like for like. That said, some idiots have already tried to do so in the comments section, even though I pointed this out. I don't think that spin balls and curveballs (or sliders, or changeups, or knuckleballs) would have made a difference for arguing each side, as each bowler/pitcher has different types to use. Objectively none is better than another.
That's what I was thinking, it seems highly underdeveloped in the UK and many people do not know the rules, which is weird given how many children played it in school.
One point worth mentioning, is in baseball they can drop the bat, in cricket, they cannot. Also in cricket, they are running with heavy pads and a helmet which blocks a decent amount of the batters view. Great video, just thought these points could have been put in. Not to mention, fatigue. Even in T20, a single Batsman could in theory bat the entire innings, but in Baseball each batter has his turn and then it gets a rest. Overall they get more resting time. Test Cricket is most definitely harder than than baseball, but that's purely because of the insane length of the matches. Honestly both sports are awesome and different which creates variety and that's always a good thing!
A full toss is just throwing it in the air, thats all a crickter can do with a full toss. A baseball player can make a ball move right to left, arc up to down, while changing its speed and timing, all from how they threw it. Like they say in American sniper " aim small miss small" There is a lot bigger degree of error for a batter to actually hit a baseball because the deflection of movement is so precise. You are bound to hit a cricket ball majority of the time when bowled, in baseball, managing to just hit the ball is considered a success. Try hit a full toss but it changes direction from your left hand side to your right while also changing speeds and then suddenly dipping prior to you swinging, oh and your bat is shaved down 1/8th the surface area and u stand 2 meters closer to the bowler.
Biased comparison....in baseball when thrower throw towards the batsman in this situation batsman know ball directly come to the bat... But in cricket batsman don't know hows ball come.... Swing spine, cutter are the factor that makes cricket difficult...
"Both Sports originated in England" and have a bat and a ball. Still, calling Cricket an interior copy of Baseball is like calling Finnish an inferior copy of Spanish. (I perfer baseball btw)
😂😂cricket has 3 formats😂😂 Baseball is cheap copy of cricket😂 No one listens american sports logic😂 and even watch trash sports u invented that no one plays And giving knowledge on cricket😂😂
Grew up in a Pakistani-American household playing baseball with the neighbors and friends as our small family was purely academically oriented and athletics were neglected. Went to Pakistan for a while and everybody plays Cricket. Having played both, I can state, IMHO, that while both games are great fun to play, Cricket is definitely the more complex of the two games. The angles with which the bat must be positioned to hit a ball that changes direction and spin once it hits the ground in a field of play that is 360 degrees is testament to that complexity. And since Cricket is a high scoring game, its generally more exciting to watch. However, when it comes to actually playing on a field / pitch, I really dont care which sport I play. I will say however that Baseball is more intrinsically intuitive as the bat swing and the pitch are much more natural motions than their counterparts in Cricket. That being said, I would rather play basketball, tennis, soccer, football, swim, ice skate, ski, skateboard, and golf (roughly in that order) than play either Baseball or Cricket.
Playing tee ball with your flunky neighbors is nothing, and I repeat NOTHING like what professionals do in the MLB. The silly rings cricket players do bouncing on the ground MLB Pitchers do in the middle of the air through the use of thier fingers. You really are clueless.
I am a cricket lover but baseball is an awesome sport and I wish to play baseball but you can't compare between two sports because different countries have their sports, in India we play & watch Cricket match and in America they play & watch Baseball match
3:15 Not Correct, You are talking about wicketkeeper, the person who faces balls coming at a speed of 100kmph or more ( just like the player in baseball who sits behind the striker). This is not a fair argument, you should compare cricket fielders to baseball fielders. Cricket ball is heavier and goes higher in the sky as compared to baseball. sometimes fielders face the ball directly after being hit by the batsman. Whatever the reason you may give, cricket fielders are better than baseball fielders.
Unpredicatable pitch, bounce, swing that too without bending elbow, and the amount of reaction timing. The pitch size . In each and every sphere cricket beats out baseball whether you like it or not.
@@Zesnur If by that you mean that the ball doesn’t bounce, the ball can still curve in midair, suddenly drop, or even rise. It all depends on the spin the pitcher puts on the ball
@@mdyer1130 That can happen WAY more in cricket FYI. Not only there is a type of ball called Inswinger and Outswinger which curves in midair, but there are also 20 more types of balls that can go any way.

I grew up, in the USA, with baseball as my favorite sport. However, I have read several books on cricket and watched many matches on TV. Of course, I think baseball is superior, but, I do admit my life situation have supplied me with a strong bias. The only thing I can point to in judging baseball superior is that baseball base running between the 4-bases (first, second, third and home) seems to play a more significant role in the game than the running between the wickets. I will say this. If I were to relocate to a cricket playing country, I am sure I would come a cricket enthusiast. Both baseball and cricket are fabulous games.

@@jamescurran9002 baseball is easier

There's difference in just the wicketkeeper wearing glove and the whole damn team wearing gloves.
I have a few theories as to why every baseball player has to wear gloves. Keep in mind I've done zero research for this and you're welcome to call me out on my bullshit

Ok so let me destroy a few of your points:

Baseball doesn't come straight as a bullet FYI. There are sinkers, curveballs, sliders in addition to fastballs and changeups

Baseball innings require 3 outs, and any given at-bat you are most likely going to be out even if you’re really good. Making it to base in the first place is really good, and unless you hit a home run, that’s all set-up for just 1 possible run.
In Cricket, when you go to the crease as a batsman, you absolutely need to and are expected to score runs. Getting out for a duck is terrible and like hacking a limb off the batting order for that innings. In Cricket, when you go to the crease as a batsman, you absolutely need to and are expected to score runs. Getting out for a duck is terrible and like hacking a limb off the batting order for that innings. You need to pull your weight, either in runs, rotating the strike, preserving the wicket, putting away bad balls and leaving good ones to wear down the ball and the pitch.
Both sports are very difficult, but what makes them hard is quite difficult.
Dude, thats because you get a 4 if you pass the boundary and 6 if you make it a over boundary in cricket
That’s because in cricket a batsman doesn’t get 1 hit per innings
Never compare two sports by their scores,😂 because the method of calculation is much different 😂and not to mention, your opponent too can make runs if it's easy in cricket,
hello ninh, i absolutely love your videos.
just a small thing, you could have mentioned that cricket bowlers arent allowed to straighten their arms fully when bowling compared to pitchers. this is in context of the fastest deliveries in each sport.
Yes, whilst you're correct - it's kinda a moot point as the different rules dictate how the ball is delivered.
And thanks!
To balance that why do you not state that a bowler takes around 15 metres of running up as part of the delivery. Do you not think it assists with the momentum.
I would seriously enjoy cricket more if I could understand what’s going on. I’ve tried and I for the life of me just don’t get what’s going on.

I’m an American who grew up on baseball, learned cricket in school, and now love both. They are both excellent sports and teach kids a lot of things about life in general. Junior cricket has adapted their game to follow what T Ball and junior baseball have been doing for over 50 years.
For me, this is the biggest difference and why cricket is harder to master.

Nowadays you can't just target the batsman's head. There are rules to control that
U r mad
U r telling american to do unbiased analysis .😂
Many people like to comment re "branding" a runner with the ball....It comes from the game of Rounders which many like to think was the basis of baseball. It was a rule of that game that hitting a runner with the ball in between one of the ten "stations"was a legitimate out. Of course rules changed when baseball's rules were compiled but the action of tagging a baserunner in today's game is thought to be a hang over.
You are correct in saying game umpires have absolute control over deliveries that target head area.
@@pranavgandhar4604 hes not american he is asian british

I love it when the bat hits the ball with a _tong_ as the batsman plays a classy cover-drive which races to the boundaries for a four more than when a baseball batsman hits a ball with all his might to send it out of the stadium. It's unlimited in teat
its one per over in ODI as well
Cricket is way better cuz firstly, it's not that we make fun of safety measures, but it makes a lot more entertaining.
Explain why the best baseball players in the world aren’t American
you are literally the kind of person being deconstructed in this video, absolutely mindless
This is how I know u only know about cricket and didn't even bother to look up where baseball is played,

Definitely 💯
people always overlook the fielding aspect of the two games when comparing them. cricket is more difficult but baseball requires more thought and wittiness.

In baseball, it is just about hitting the ball. In cricket, it is more about placing the ball, hitting hard is just one part of the game. You would not understand the game if you just watched it on youtube. To fully understand the game you have to watch a 5 day test match. And you would understand the concept of placing the ball.
Let’s be honest. Cricket is the father of baseball
lol, they have almost nothing to do with each other, or at least there is no evidence that there is. So no, its not.
You just making assumptions how can that be being honest ?
😂they have come with predertermined mindset they will show edge to baseball over cricket😂
By watching their video,i get to lnow, even 4-5 year old in ind-aus-eng kid know better cricket than this so called analysist🤣
In cricket you can bowl with too many variations let me tell you for fast bowlers inswing, outwing, leg cutter, off cutter, slow ball, reverse swing, yorker, bouncers, good length, straight, fastball, knuckle ball, back of the hand and for spinners leg spin, off spin, googly, doosra, flight and if you consider fielding easy in cricket watch top ten catches or fielding in cricket you will know and assume anything if don't know
@@johnhenry9453 Its clear you dont know anything about cricket
Holy yaperson
Don't yap about strength,a cricket bat is more than 4 times heavier than a baseball bat, plus the flat edges leads to MUCH more air resistance and hence, much much Harder to swing 😂
Pls don't get me started on this,
In baseball, a ball can swing (in the air) and be slow or fast,
But in cricket, a ball can swing (in air) a ball can swing (after bounce,)in any direction, a ball can swing MORE, a ball can spin (in any direction) after bounce, a ball can drift (change direction in the air before spinning),a ball can stay low(become slow after bouncing) a ball can stick to the surface (also change in speed) and what not
The cricket bat looks very interesting I like to see both sides equal on this one both of them look very fun to play
There have been numerous attempts at a hybrid game between the two.
So far, there hasn't been any concrete ones.

The ball which don't not touch the ground we call it fulltoss in cricket and fulltoss ball is the easiest ball to hit. Hitting cricket ball is hard because lots of variation in balling style.
Brilliantly said. It’s just like the Apple vs Android, but for angry tech nerds who have nothing better to spend their energy on.
P.S.

Yeah, it's like comparing Marathon race with 100m. Both are basically running, but requires totally different techniques and training.
Baseball is my absolute favorite sport. I've always loved watching it, following it, and playing it. Maybe I should give cricket a try, it seems interesting
There's a major league cricket starting this year in usa with 6 teams
@@NinhLyUK They should. Gotta get the damn game going man. XD
@@NinhLyUK Wicket Keeper is the only one who wears gloves. fielders Do not wear Gloves in Cricket only Keeper does that is the reason Baseball is a stupid game. Do the proper research on Cricket man. you have done a video on cricket without researching it nerd.
As an Aggie, I appreciated the constant images of Texas A&M baseball.
This was really good. Both sports have their pros and cons, but the scientific differences were interesting.
Yes, Gig 'em Aggies!
And even though the scientific differences were interesting, the point of the video is that they are pointless to compare because they are different sports. But having a look at the comments below (especially from Indian Cricket fanboys) indicates that they don't have two braincells to comprehend this fact.

@@NinhLyUK When you present the video in a very biased matter without fully explaining the differences, are you really surprised about the reaction lol? It's like comparing football to rugby, saying football is harder because tackles deliver more force, but leave out the fact that plays last what? 3 seconds and 25 seconds break before another snap and leaving out the fact that rugby is nonstop.

I dont even give an f whats the difference between baseball and cricket, but when Ninh explains, I listen
Cool, thanks!
Just like you said cricket fans can also claim it's harder to get a batsmen out. So , that would be a dumb statement that's why he didn't included it.
If scoring in cricket would have been that easy then why AMERICAN CRICKET TEAM is not ranked No.1 instead of ENGLAND.
Yes because scoring system is different
that bcz of scoring system, in cricket, batting team also get penalty extra run. i think that does exist in baseball.
Valiant effort but still sooo off with the facts about cricket...Baseball is sure not easy but certainly doesn't have the dynamics, variety, environmental factors that is a central part of Cricket
Wdym by this?
However, in this comparison you cannot even cover 1% of the cricket. Cricket is lot more complicated and versatile.
Yeah, Cricket isn't that popular in Mexico. I'm not even aware if they play it internationally?
Good video. Great ending. My only question is- when will you be explaining “rounders?”
Thanks! Footage of rounders is proving hard to come by.

In cricket: the easiest ball to play is full toss. And in the baseball every ball is full toss 😅😅😅😅
A full toss is just throwing it in the air, thats all a crickter can do with a full toss. A baseball player can make a ball move right to left, arc up to down, while changing its speed and timing, all from how they threw it. Like they say in American sniper " aim small miss small"
There is a lot bigger degree of error for a batter to actually hit a baseball because the deflection of movement is so precise.

Yes it is low budget cricket.

Baseball also has unpredictable pitches, the video literally says that the reaction time is less, and a larger pitch makes it easier
Max27265, but every ball is full tose in baseball
@@Zesnur If by that you mean that the ball doesn’t bounce, the ball can still curve in midair, suddenly drop, or even rise. It all depends on the spin the pitcher puts on the ball
