Nice review/running session Sam. I have a couple of blue A4 locos, King class and a Tornado, the blue does look stunning. I think I prefer my Tornado, but the others look equally as good...Simon
You have some brilliant engines Sam. I have King George Vth in BR blue. I saw Sir Nigel Gresley at Bury a few years ago and Tornado at Llangollen with Britannia.
Thanks very much Philip, ooh very luck - I've never seen those run in real life, they were just static when I saw them!! :D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
BR had the common sense to scrap all of their experiments in blue. GWR employees would have possibly assinated several individuals if they had not. Frederick Hawksworth & Charles Collet would have had a heart attack to see a King In Thomas the Tank Engine Blue!
+Sam'sTrains Thank you for your reply and question Sam. I had to stop and think whether or not I had missed any. (I hadn't) So excluding blue diesels which everyone has a ton of, my three are; 1, A Tri-ang "Nellie" type 0-4-0 T in Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway transfers numbered 7178, I also have two blue SDJR 4 wheel coaches made by Hornby. All are in near mint condition. 2, A Hornby 0-4-0 saddle tank in Caledonian Railway transfers numbered 270. Again near mint condition. 3, My pride and joy, (for blue liveried locos ) A Bachmann limited edition A4 No. 60008, Dwight D. Eisenhower certificate number 187 of 500 from the second edition produced for sale in the USA. It is in BR blue very similar to your "King". Cheers, David.
lovely vid mate no sr but it hate to find a blue one cr looks very smart with her new coaches that a4 is stunner and old what more can i say thanks for sharing ade
+Adi Pullen Thanks Ade! I don't have any blue SR locos sadly - but oh well! Glad you liked the caledonian - she is very smart! The A4 is definitely a favourite! Cheers, Sam :)
Hi Sam, fantastic video for a number of reasons 1. blue is my favourite colour and 2. I love nearly all the locos in the video. yes a LMS loco and I really like kings and Tornado itself. I do feel sorry for the passengers on Sir Nigel Gresleys Service (I think you might be getting sued Sam). I have a tornado on my railway and I have her pulling 24 coaches and my railway is on a gradient. Cheers mate, Lewis, only joking about Nigel Gresley :)
+Lewis Shields Thanks a lot mate - really glad you enjoyed the video! You are right about Nigel Gresley's train - a very rough ride there ;) I'm really impressed at how much those tornados can pull - I think they are the most powerful steam loco I have, even more so than the 9F! Cheers, Sam :)
Sam'sTrains Thanks Mate the Hornby Tornado are amazing. one thing I forgot to mention was that I really hate the Caledonian Single because they're awful at running and a few years ago Hornby marketed these as super detail models whilst using the Triang era mould and they did not modify it one bit and thye cost quite a bit too, it is so bad. Cheers Mate, Lewis :)
Sam have you done the duke of glouster by hornby because my duke of glousters smoke deflected broke and now,i have to get a new one please can you do a video showing how to replace a smoke selectees and nice vid :)
+ACE FLYING SCOTSMAN Ace fs Thanks for the comment again - I have got a duke of gloucester video, yeah! I'm not surprised the smoke deflector broke - Hornby's models are a bit rough at the moment as you might know! Luckily I've never had smoke deflector problems though, so I'm not really the one to ask about fixing them - is there a way to just superglue it carefully? :) Cheers, Sam :)
Hey Sam. I'm thinking on either getting Flying Scotsman or Tornado with my money, and i cannot just decide, so i came to you! What would you recommend for me? Thanks. By the way, Your videos are GREAT!
+ClarkeBroEntertainment Thank you very much for the kind comment - really appreciated! It all depends on your tastes - but In my opinion the Hornby Tornado is absolutely fantastic - it's super powerful, plenty detailed, very reliable and gorgeous! Cheers, Sam :) p.s. let me know what you go for! :D
Is mallard in this video because he was blue and red wheels and mallard was the fastest steam train ever to go at a speed of 125.5 miles per hour on a track but sadly mallard was seriously damaged on that run
I think the Kings were super powerful - I'm not sure if more so than the A4 or A1, but probably similar! As far as I remember, the Kings were the most powerful GWR engine ever built! Cheers, Sam :)
1P for the single wheeler, is the one of the weakest power rating in the British railway system. the b12 was a 4p, not really weak, but not very powerful either, compared to many heavier express passenger pacifics, not including the clan or the Britannia class engines.
Yeah absolutely - 1p is ridiculous - to the point where they were just used for fancy displays rather than real work! I don't think there were any other 1p locos, not that I've heard of anyway! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
The body of the King Class is very similar to a Black 5 , the overall winner has got to be the Coronation class Princess Alexandra as an icon of the thirty's era Art Deco styling . The Caledonian must have been a lovely site in its day .....Peter .
+Peter Shaw Thanks a lot for the comment! The princess is definitely a good choice - I don't know if I could choose which one I prefer though! :D Cheers mate, Sam :)
Am I the only one that thinks that the King Class, Castle Class and Star Class look the same? Also, whatever happened to Sir Nigel Gresley? Will we ever see him again?
haha yeah they certainly are very similar - only the experts will know the minor differences, though the kings and castles are easy, since they're so huge! Yeah sure - I can get him running again! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)
In reality, preserved King Edward 2nd of 4-6-0 GWR status was green first. Now she wears the BR Blue livery, just like your King George 6th model. King Edward 2nd's number is 6023. As always in my view, GWR engines including the Manors come out on top. Nothing will ever surpass their splendour when running, model or real. They take the biscuit alongside Cheeky Thomas the Tank Engine, and his friends, two of which are blue of course. GWR is better than all the rest.
Yo listen up. Here's a story, about a little guy that lives in the blue world. And all day and all night and everything he sees is just blue, like him. Inside and outside. Blue his house, with a blue teal window and a blue co ever and everything is blue for him and himself and everybody around and he ain't got, nobody, to listen to (en to) (en to) (en to). I'M BLUE! DABBLE DEE DABBLE DII. DABBLE DEE DABBLE DII. DABBLE DEE DABBLE DII DABBLE DEE DABBLE DII.
Steam locomotives in blue look ridiculous and that is why Thomas the Tank Engine appeals only to morons & toddlers. The only company in the UK when they did not was when the Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway adopted Prussian Blue. Check out and taste the difference!
Any chance we can have an updated one of this please
Thank you Sam
Joe
Yes! That would be great - I've made a note of it! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Another fine effort.
I'm not too sure about blue locomotives, preferring BR green, but they did look nice.
+William Glover Thanks a lot for the comment - I know blue isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I've done a green one too! :)
Cheers,
Sam :)
nice running session, there is something about blue locos, nice to see the king and calidonian single, some nice models there, enjoyed it
Thanks Jae - you're right, BR blue does make a loco really special! Glad you liked them anyway,
All the best,
Sam :)
I love the running vids
Especially when they are featuring a certain color with various locos
+Sam Shirley Thanks a lot, glad you liked them! I've done quite a few of these now!
Cheers for the comment,
Sam :)
Well this was a once in a blue moon event ;) great video! you have a great layout and trains!
+Somerset Train Spotting Thank you very much, really glad you like it!
Cheers,

Nice review/running session Sam. I have a couple of blue A4 locos, King class and a Tornado, the blue does look stunning. I think I prefer my Tornado, but the others look equally as good...Simon
+Liverton -Simon Thanks a lot for the comment, glad you liked the blue, it is a nice change!
Cheers mate,
Sam :)
The LNER blue Sir Nigel Gresley is beautiful none-the-less, but the BR blue like she is preserved in is just outstanding.
Thanks Dawson - ooh I agree, I'm a huge fan of the BR blue!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Thanks for doing this sam
+anthony hall Hey no problem, glad you liked it!
Cheers,
Sam :)
Feed back: Fantastic video, I loved the locos. :)
+Why Not? Thanks very much for the support, glad you liked them! :D

This was very amazing nice work Sam
Thanks very much mate - really glad you liked it!

I like the horse using the foot bridge nice touch.LOL
+ab bush haha yeah - the horses especially don't like crossing the lines - must be the sleepers?
Cheers,
Sam :)
BR had the common sense to scrap all of their experiments in blue. GWR employees would have possibly assinated several individuals if they had not. Frederick Hawksworth & Charles Collet would have had a heart attack to see a King In Thomas the Tank Engine Blue!
haha they certainly did - wasn't many of them, that's for sure!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Great video Sam. I have 3 blue locos, all different to yours which makes me wonder how many there are. Your friend John might know. David.
+David Atkins There's quite a few! Hornby make a few in BR blue that never were in real life though! Which ones do you have?? :)
Cheers,
Sam :)

BR blue is my fav livery of all time and Tornado in BR blue(😂) is my fav train of all time
Great choice Luca - I love that too! :D
Hello Sam, enjoyed the video. See you had a special guest "Dr Who". Noticed the flashing police box in the background.
+Ron Catterick Thanks a lot for the comment - glad you enjoyed it! And haha well spotted, not many people comment on that!
Cheers,
Sam :)
I really like how he has the tardis from Dr who on the railway 🤣
haha very well spotted! :D
Great. Sometimes it's just nice to run trains.
+Russell Benton Thanks mate glad you liked it - it's something I do like to do on video once in a while!
Cheers,

Stanier himself said that the 'steamlining' was useless and just for show!
+Why Not? Yeah - they'd have to go much much faster for it to be useful - great to see though! :D
I'd like it if you could get more low down shots of the locos, just a suggestion.
+Why Not? Thanks for the suggestion - I try to get a mixture if I can - I know different people like different things :)
You are welcome

Hi Sam I love your videos
I am wondering if you can do a Hattons Original Rolling Stock video. It is the Sandite 2 Pack is sales for 118 Pounds
Thanks very much mate - yes those do sound good, I'd like to try them! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I found a review on this that the details are easily breakable and but the details are amazing .
Is mallard in this video because he was blue and red wheels and mallard was the fastest steam train ever to go at a speed of 125.5 miles per hour on a track but sadly mallard was seriously damaged on that run
Very close - I think I ran Sir Nigel Gresley - which is very similar to Mallard! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
12:09 thank you sir.
+Why Not? No problem ;)
i love Caledonian railway
Me too! There were some gorgeous locos there!
All the best,
Sam :)
When do you think hornby will announce a caledonian railway cardean class and dunalastair class
Hey Sam, just out of curiosity how many steam locos do you have in your collection?
+Steve Rossi Thanks a lot for the comment - I don't know exactly, but it's probably just over 150 at the moment!
Cheers,
Sam :)
15:46 I hope so because she's a race horse for the mainline not a donkey for the mill. :)
+Why Not? haha yeah!
+Sam'sTrains Yeah you were right earlier. She does do mainline runs, mainly on the East Coast Main Line, well, that's where we normally see her!
I'm right in thinking that the King was more powerful than the A4 and A1 and near enough equal to the coronation class?
I think the Kings were super powerful - I'm not sure if more so than the A4 or A1, but probably similar! As far as I remember, the Kings were the most powerful GWR engine ever built!
Cheers,
Sam :)
According to Wikipedia the Kings had 179kN, LNER A4s 157kN, Peppercorn A1 166kN, LMS Coronation 180kN.
Well if that's the case then yeah - they were much more powerful than the A1/4s! :D
Wikipedia isn't always the most of reliable of sources though :)
1P for the single wheeler, is the one of the weakest power rating in the British railway system. the b12 was a 4p, not really weak, but not very powerful either, compared to many heavier express passenger pacifics, not including the clan or the Britannia class engines.

I'm a back in da UK
an I feels good
+83c PRODUCTIONS Welcome back! Everything good in France? :)
Cheers,
Sam
4:00 The A4's were based off the A3's
Yeah that's true - but it's the same thing really if we're talking about basis - since they were based on the A1s!
Cheers,
Sam :)
8:17 DE RAIL DE RAIL SAM!!!! DE RAIL! CALL THE FIRE BRIGADE!!! DE RAIL! Wait what? It's only a model?

Cheers,
Sam :)

I like steam better than diesel. But I do reccomend the new Bachmann Angry Diesel from Thomas.
Me too mate - but thanks for that, I will look into getting him! :D
That was a great video, could you do the same with red locomotives next time?
+Northern Soul Express Thanks a lot! I definitely will do one at some point, yeah! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Hello
Hello! :D
Wait, is the A4 set by Guinness World Records as the Fastest steam train in the world?
Not by Guinness no - this happened before Guinness world records existed! But yes, it was a recognized world record!
All the best,
Sam :)
Am I the only one that thinks that the King Class, Castle Class and Star Class look the same?

Honestly I’m not sure
Sam's train do bachmann trains
Hi Timothy - I do - I've done quite a few bachmann trains! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains can you do a review of green and orange trains
if you have a sterling single of the G.N.R. would you do a reviw on it.
Thanks
Griffin
Hi! The closest I have to that is the tri-ang dean single from the GWR, though a sterling would be nice too!
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
First! And I've waiting for SO long for one of these!! Do a red day next. ;)
+Why Not? Thanks a lot! The next one is already filmed, and hopefully you'll enjoy it! :D
+Sam'sTrains good. :)

+legdig haha no not yet, but I will do one day! :D
+Sam'sTrains that will be a happy day for all of us!

Mallard is also a blue loco!
Yeah! Sadly I diddn't have a blue mallard for this... but gadwell is very similar!
Cheers,
Sam :)
Can we say this is your . . . 'Blue Steam'?
haha absolutely! :D
Make a crash video
Cool idea!! The models are a bit fragile though... so I can't really do much of that without breaking them :3
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
B12 = ALFRED
Yes!!! :D
