Nice touch with the beer at the end. I made a trip once with a friend, 2 weeks through Spain and France. Got hit hard by an insane storm while camping at the coast of France. While the sun was rising after the horribly stormy night that blew our tent away, my friend went to our soaking wet backpacks and pulled out two bottles of our favorite beer that he brought all the way from Germany and was carrying in the bottom of his backpack for 2 weeks. Best morning after the worst night. We cried a little.
I did this route back in 1975. We just had some slings and 6 to 8 carabiners. Wooden ice axes and my salewa crampons with short points, very efficient on the rock. It is always very exhilarating to walk down the arête and see la Valee Blanche, la Dent du Géant and the Grandes Jorasses far away. Thank you for sharing. It’s great the way you do these climbs with enthusiasm and sense of humour.
Nice video! I did this route about 45 years ago so it brought back fond memories. At that time the terrace at the top of the ladder was full of tables with people enjoying their meals, so it made an interesting finish!
I did that climb 45 years ago. 4 slings, some krabs, two Prusick loops already tied on the rope. An old wooden axe and my salewa crampons, not very different from the ones used on the Eiger… I had an extra rope for the abseil and we were alone on the ridge. We decided to sleep et the Cosmiques hut and leave early. It will always be a marvellous climb, like the Arêtes de Rochefort and a great experience for rock climbers not familiar with alpine routes.
Chamonix is a memorable place that I visited from Japan on my honeymoon 30 years ago. I read Frisson Roche's "Premier de cordee" and visited the place where the novel was drawn. Of course, I enjoyed the scenery up the ropeway to "Aguille de Midi". I was also interested in climbing, but I have experience only on slopes and simple routes. But if I'm with a guide, I can climb "Cosmiques Arete". Thank you for the fun video.
dude your crampons look so light but they almost came off while you were standing at 8:10 . not sure how secure those crampons are and how many times you had to clip them back on. The Arete looks amazing though, I'll be sure to do it when I am around Chamonix!
The greatest pandemic in a century and there is still a queue on the Cosmic! What a peculiar species of primates...Congratulations for the down to earth video.
Living the dream guys ... was hoping to get to chamonix this year in July and do the Tour Du Mont Blanc, but with the covid spreading in France, looks like it's next year now, had 3 weeks planned to do Tour du Mont Blanc then Summit Mont Blanc and hike some of it's surroundings... hopefully next year 🙂👍 great vid guys ...
Loved the video guys I was there last year good memories. Keep doing this type of content is fun and entertaining. Teresa got a better British accent than Matt
Looks like fun, but definitely not my style. Half the allure of mountaineering for me is getting to a place that is inaccessible for 99% of the rest of the world. I'd be so disappointed to finish a climb only to see a lift with a bunch of tourists at the top.
I really like the addition of Teresa to the crew, I think the three of you make a good team! nice one guys.

Hugo definatly win on style points alone. Classic ice axe and glasses, love it!

Love this kind of content and you guys are such a good team! Keep these coming for us living in the lowlands and dreaming about summer alpinism 🗻
Great vid! loved the format and let's be honest alpine is the best type of climbing!

This is one of the best videos I've seen on the internet. Love the vibe

Yo that left foot crampon at 8:08 gives me chills :P
Thats absolutely stunning 🤩 great video, perfect ending
You guy's are so cool together, I wish I could join with you... This route is on my list, hope next year I will find the time. Greetings from Germany
loved the goonies reference
Babyruth!

More of this, please :-) Beautiful imagery!
8:20 Not till you put your left crampon back on lol

Wow, that was such a gr8 vdo. Gr8 climb of multi conditions. Thx 4 sharing on Utube. Keep on climbing.
Gonna have to try popping a beer cap with my axe too!
Really nice video guys, very good vibes! Keep it up!
Great Epic TV . Good luck. Nice landscape.
That's the kind of job we all want!
I miss being in Chamonix. When I was there last August, I could not believe how warm it was: It had to be in the 60s.
Wow that Crampon looks like its about to come of at 8:14.
Really nice vid guys. Do more like this pls
I love Hugo's glasses... please sell those in EpicTV shop... And you just persuaded me to go on some nice alpine trip next week thank you guys
Julbo Cham for the glasses
Looks fantastic guys would like to try alpine climbing one day 😀

Looked like a lot of fun!
What pack did Matt use? Petzl in the gear vid but not on the climb.
Has the route changed much since the 2018 rockfall?
Great mixed climb skills Matthew!
Heeeeyyyyyy yyyyooouuuu gguuuuuuuuyyyssss! Goonies reference.
7:14 That is not a Bomber nut !! It is in a expanding sub flake..many other choices in proximity🤕🏔
Looks like an amazing place!
I last climbed this route in 1994 and I'm going back to do it again in September... :-D
Me too🙌🏽
@@vincentkrause7097 sadly, I've had to postpone my trip until next year now due to travel restrictions.
I sympathise with Matt....I can get a helmet to fit my head either, but for the opposite reason....the struggle is real!
1:02 Note to Teresa: that is not how you attached your ice tool to the FL 30 ;)
Clothing question: Would it have been okay wearing a soft shell jacket instead of the hard shell? Thinking Gamma MX.
10:09 is she holding the belay device backwards??
No. The ATC guide is upside-down at that moment, but the rope is fed the right way through it
Do you always have that much snow this time of the year at only 3000 M? and glaciers?
Is that a cover on Teresa’s helmet? It is a different color in this video than in the gear video.
When was this? We are heading to Chamonix next week!
Loved this
Dang this was legit. Well done.
This was really really good content.
When's the invite going out to viewers to come on a climbing day with you guys🤞
Bellissima! Bravissimi!
Awesome!!!! Maybe I’ll do it in a few weeks (with a guide). How crowded is Chamonix currently?
Definitely more epic than Eiger Nordwand. Come to 'Murica and do Yosemite!
Perfect!
Nice to see you enjoying some german beer in germany. How did you like your Heineken compared to scottish beer?
At 8:09 it looks like the crampons are falling off...
Ah. Thats the life. Climbing and beer afterwards. Although, I normally add pizza to 😉...
Best team!
OMG ! In minute 8:12 you’re losing your crampon!
Gooooooooaaaaaals !!!
Loved the video guys I was there last year good memories. Keep doing this type of content is fun and entertaining. Teresa got a better British accent than Matt
Take me with you next time!
love teresa!!!
Where can I buy Hugos glasses?
Awesome vid! Thanks guys:):)
Matt, are you using the Alpha AR 35 pack?
A horrible, Shite pack - I have it and its rubbish. Get the only pack in the game - the Tupilak packs from ME. You're welcome.
Did you use alloy crampons? Interested to see how are they after mixed climbing
On mix climbs you must use steel crampons, otherwise be ready to buy new crampons after each use...
Hey you guys!
Whispering “Got surprise in my bag”, creepy!
HEYYY YOUUU GUYYYS
Nice
Sloth the goat
La prochaine fois, essayez de grimper avec des Pampers
Why isn't Matt wearing his petzl Meteor helmet?
hey you guys
Hey you guyssss

Heeeeey you guuuuuyyyyys 😅
It was obviously a Scottish accent 😀
Just an observation, why are you guys putting in gear??
Sic vid
Baaby ruuth???
Not the bloody Cosmiques Arete again.
Teresa perché tu sei la Donna PIÙ Bella del mondo..... tiny crush over here.
Tough gig...Please can I have your job(s)? :)
too much talking in this vidéo
That’s just the most terrible way of climbing. 😅 cold, ice and snow.
'we're observing social distancing...' except, your not, at all.
