Pokemon TCG Live has a separate timer for each player. Imo that''s how match timers should work in paper tcg too. Have some Pokemon branded chess clocks up there
Pace of play is such a pain in the PokémonTCG, people complain against Block Snorlax Stall (PGO55), but most of these type decks are at such a disadvantage as they take a while to win and the opponent can easily stall the game out for an easy win(or tie). See Wailord EX in 2015 NA Nationals for an example. The weird thing is that Tord has spoken on how the rules warp how people play. Tord (and me) have played Gardevoir ex since it's come out and that deck takes a lot of time to play. It has multiple search cards to pull out Kirlias, Psychic Energies, Basic Psychics and other Tudors. So a large amount of that time is spent shuffling the deck in between Refinments. Gardevoir particularly suffers because half the time you need to just drop a round in your best of 3 early so you have enough time to play out the other 2 games to pull your win. He didn't play Gardi this time around so maybe he decided being on the wrong side of timer abuse was too much? Personally we really need some sort of Chess Clock system in place for these events. Because nothing is infuriating than an opponent wasting time to get a draw when you have game under wrap. This literally happened to me in an online tournament recently. My opponent managed to slow play the client and drew out their last turn to 5 minutes out of a 30min round! I had game in hand too, literally no combination of cards got them out of the bind.
The thing about how it warps the game is that its also advantageous on slower decks. If you get the G1 on average or even fast play on a slower deck you are set for a big advantage for the rest of the round. Problem with chess clock is rounds would take way too long. It also becomes your responsibility to pilot slow decks quickly if you choose them
My experience in playing the TCG has been 50/50. My first league cup, got a game loss over one sleeve being 'damaged' in round 5 of swiss. I personally think the head judge was being a bit rude about it and should have given just a warning since even the other judge who was deck checking me said it didn't look intentional, but still had a good time, even with that guy being a bit of a dick and glad the rules are starting to be enforced cause yeah, even my normie friends who arent as hard into the TCG, questioned the rate he plays when we hang and watch the streams. If only more judges did their jobs to make this a non issue
There’s head judges in your locals? That don’t usually happen. Also any sort of damage on the sleeve would be result in a game loss. Can you be more specific about how your sleeve was damage?
Yu-Gi-Oh & Vanguard have cheaters as well. (Master Duel has people hacking illegally sized decks, and forbidden cards in the Master Duel game's format, and Duel Links has hackers mixing Rush Duel cards & standard duel cards together (you're not allowed to do that btw)) (in Vanguard's case, i know a story in regards to one guy who placed a card from his damage zone in one of the rearguard circles (you can't do this outside of certain card effects))
A player getting DQ'd for timer rules shouldn't even be a story. Unintentional slow play gives an unfair advantage and warrants game losses/disqualification. Intentional slow play is cheating and warrants suspension.
Still having problems with time in 2023? A chess clock would solve this problem. Take all the time you want, once your timer hits 0 you lose. At least for the older divisions they could implement this. Pokemon could also make an official app to download and use for these matches as well. I believe time was a controversy when there was a wailord stall deck years ago. Can't believe they haven't fixed this in 2023 which is an easy fix.
I am all for thinking out your move to receive the best possible result, taking actions that prolong the turn is just a dick move though. I am tired of slow playing players in all TCG's though. You can tell when a player is slow playing.
this is a childrens game look atg the animated youtube show they made is based for kids. if you have to resort to cheating to win you are ruining the chance of a potential kid to rise up and enjoy the game and poekemon. cheating is in everything that people want to showboat and show they are the best at but it comes at a cost of the noobs getting turned off of dioing that because the skill difference is too great or realized too many people cheat im example of that with pokemon games after x and y it was hacked mons constantly.
I would give this one the benefit of the doubt, to be honest. I watch him play a lot and the slowplay allegations seem to be typical youtube comments section fanboy BS - and I watch these players attentively, including their shuffles, knowing the amount of foul play that exists (there are players who seem to be "favorite pros" who are on stream a lot who even have bad reputations). The organization in Brazil is notoriously bad. Latin America events in general, ran by Copag. Slowplaying has historically been punished in the TCG (as well as che ating in general, unlike VGC), so it seems like a stretch that only now Tord would be punished by it rather than in earlier events, and on a country with known bad TOs. So far this seems far-fetched to me.
This rampant cheating is all so tiresome. Your battle stadium vids (or stream VODs if I can find them) are virtually the highlight of my pokemon experience these days.
Calling Tord a cheater seems a bit of a stretch. If his opponents didn’t have an issue, a DQ seems a bit drastic. Considering his resume as one the games most decorated players, the judges do seem to be in the wrong without at least giving a warning or maybe a step up to a prize card penalty for previous warnings from Worlds. Judges have to follow the rules too
Some opponents not having an issue and being decorated means literally nothing as a defense for cheating as we saw with Pram. Its usually a sign of cheating when a decorated player gets caught and deflects the rule violations since they have been comfortable with it for so long. Many players say he is a notorious slow player. With the opponents most players are cheating in some capacity so they keep the open secret between themselves
@@Verlisify In Prams example he’s directly caught manipulating his top deck. If Tord has truly been cheating then he deserves harsher punishment and Pokémon must do better to make their game fair for all of us. Leave no room for confusion and actually write in time limit rules for turns/actions for judges and players so it’s undeniably cheating when gone too far.
@@brianwilliams9228 DQ first offence then bans subsequently. He is on the radar now so he needs to shape up or be banned, its not a hard concept. Here we go again
man with a 13 minute turn this guy should be a yugioh player, not a pokemon player.
Tord is notorious for slow playing, it’s about time he got punished for it.

I really hate cheaters. At least in TCG there looks to be more upset about people cheating than in the VGC community

To be clear, I do believe he has been deliberately slow playing/cheating.

Nice to see others calling them out on it as well. Hold them accountable and maybe some day things will get better.

It truly baffles me how unhinged these people are

I like how the justification is "all the top players do it" as if that makes it any better lmao

Stall is sometimes incentivised so I understand the judges made the call on it.

I am glad they are not only being caught but called out too, hopefully this means harder crack down on rules.
Slow and steady may win the race, but not the competition.
I hate slow play...Tord took a 13 min turn. WTF
I noticed slow play idiocy in TCG live all day today. I just quit the match if they take forever. I don't have time nor patience for your idiocy.
