Hey, I'm back with more Carpenter Brut !
This time around, the sound design took me the most amount of time to get that "sidechain" kind of feel, and the gritty synth sound of the original, with everything sounding cohesive.
I'm quite happy with the result, tell me what you think in the comments !

Then you definitely should check out GENATARi if you want to see what the next step looks like. That guy uses modes that were very rarely utilized by retail games, but sound amazing.

Absolutely. Just look at how the PSG channels have been used for the simpler square wave and noise playback, while the other channels are used for more complex - and yet they complement and merge with each other. A real thing of beauty.
The Mega drive was built for this. So crunchy. Everyone swears the SNES sound chip was better. But thats like comparing Slayer to Yo yo Ma. Yes both make music but they aren't comparable

If Hotline Miami 1&2 were released in the 90's it absolutely would've been a Genesis/Mega Drive title (just swap Jacket's NES and The Fans' SNES out), this fits so well.

Chiptunes and synthwave go together so well. It's one of the reasons I loved Monomer's albums so much, he's one of the few who legitimately combined the two together to make his own spin and it worked very well. This is an awesome remake man, will have to check out your other ones now

Hey, I used Deflemask, a tracker software; in short, you "program" a track with instructions to be read by the Sega Genesis. I made the FM patches myself, to be faithful to the original track.
FM5 Channel is fire.
Thanks to UA-cam with disabled history for providing the most random recommendations. Subbed after 1 minute and seeing you do the original songs on Genesis chip!
