I've been looking for a pad for quite sometime. I was leaning towards a roll up pad, but after this video (FANX!) I'm now leaning towards the smaller shuffle black pad. Thank you for exploring other aspects of magic that not a lot of people talk about! Keep fighting that good fight Daniel!

That was excellent excellent advice ,I got into card magic purely they the gaming table,and I initially learned table work and you are quite correct that table sleights etc are a huge part of card magic ,you are the first sleight of hand artist I've ever heard say this ,bravo good sir
What I did to have a close up table was buy a fold up desk and laud black felt over the top and then fold it underneath the table then stapled it on so that if I ever do a gig on a stage, I can use it. But it’s not something I can bring with me every day but I practice on it at home and I like it. However I definitely need to buy a practice pad.

I like card/magician/cardist lifestyle type of videos. I think there is magic how you carry your cards around in your daily life as an extension of yourself. (almost like how you carry your phone). I feel like people dont know that magic/cardist is a lifestlye not just something you do in your free time.

Got a practice pad as a gift. its awesome.
As much as I’d love to buy a nice mat, I’m poor. I have to resort to making my own, but it works. I’ve never used a “real” card mat, so I don’t know how much “give” the mat should have. I chose a 1/4” thick “fusible foam” and some microfiber faux suede, and I actually use a picture frame. All three from Walmart, and less than $8 for a 23” x 18” mat. I wish I could make a smaller one; maybe next month. Madison mentioning one that can fit in a backpack is genius!

I have a number of large gaming mousepads that work perfectly, they are relatively dense and give the perfect amount of give while still making you work to grab the cards like an actual card table
I use a extended mouse pad (Its perfect , It looks same as the green one ) . Works best, I recommend buying this as it is affordable for the people who want to save some money and who just started in magic as hobby

So far best affordable mats are Phillips surfaces. Noticed Jason Ladanye sells them on his site. D&D is unmatched though 🙈
Well I'm a little too broke for a nice pad for now, but I got some extra plywood, fabric, and a staple gun. Since you made your own black jack surface you got any advice?

Hey Daniel, I recently bought your 52 book and collection and I found ton of great gimmicked decks in there. My question is how do you carry around all of these? I don't usually carry around a backpack or anything, just a deck in my pocket, so I don't know how I could carry them all. Any particular ones you think are the best for walk-around magic? In my opinion, I don’t like the idea of the pad changing color. The marks you were talking about. Anything that takes attention away from the effect, I try to avoid it.

I use a gunsmith mat which is basically the same thing as the green mat shown, it just has an exploded image of a glock on it lol
