      Right? It's kind of an interesting dichotomy: the actors of that era were true stars, with a kind of class and presence rarely seen today. Yet many of the shows and production numbers they were in, and the jokes/dialogue they were forced to utter, were almost laughably bad by current standards. Still makes for fun viewing though.

    Monte Hall, you can’t say retarded any more. I muted Debbie Boone’s song, remember Johnny Carson making fun of her, the song was #1 on the charts way too long. I was in College year 1977, no money to go out so watched tv shows like this, at home.

      I HATED THAT SONG, IT BECAME A JOKE IN THE '70'S. PLAYED WAY TOO MUCH, PEOPLE WERE SICK OF IT!
      BUT, YOU SHOULD GO BACK AND LISTEN TO THIS PARTICULAR PERFORMANCE. SHE SUNG IT WITH SUCH PERFECTION, IT WAS ACTUALLY BEAUTIFUL! ⚘

    I grew up with these celebs; in retrospect, most were as phoney, self-centered, egotistical as tdy's Hollywood celebs.

    @lavenberry :: Does the time-sequence matter that much ?
    E.T. has had a wonderful life ( ups and downs, like everyone ). What is disappointing about her, if I may write, is the self-indulgence :: too many parties ; staying up late ; too many husbands ; not enough self-reflection and definitely too much booze ! ; the latter is the real reason she lost the great balance of her looks. Alcohol destructs the face's appearance ... she looks like a drinker.
    It was her life. My opinion means nothing as she must have had a hard head after years in films ... in Hollywood ; however, when God/Nature has gifted you very, very, generously ... you have an obligation to respect the gift ... E. T. did not respect the Gods !
