Great video, mate. Really helped me figure out how to work with the leather I’ve got. I was also really surprised at how easily the information comes across without any kind of verbal instruction. Great job👍
If you're going to grind your skives a small suggestion to keep dust down. Dampen the leather all the way through, dampen not soak. Leather dust goes everywhere and hangs in the air for quite a while.
Well done! I didn't think that would look so clean. I've been trying to figure out a way to make a sword belt with the leather I have. I have one piece that is long enough, but it's cut in a very wide circle, so it won't flatten out to make a good belt. I could cut sections and do what you did and it should look pretty cool. For reference, it's a double-wrap belt; the ends connect to the scabbard and it wraps twice around my waist, then buckles in the front. I'm not a big guy by any means, but I still needed a six foot run of leather, which I don't have.
I arrived here from many leatherworking tutorials that used tools that take a long time to accumulate. Was refreshing to see the "I need holes, I have a drill" attitude. Deadpool would approve. (Although he'd be more "I need holes, I have a gun") Cheers!
I bought a cheap set of 9 hole punches from Harbor Freight, but you can even make your own from different sizes of tubing or pipe by putting a bevel on the ID or OD of the wall. It's not hard to do, and you can have various odd-ball sizes if you want.
That's actually pretty sweet looking. I've saved tool pouches that were ready for the scrap bin before just by stitching in more meat so I have no doubt that will last fine once the threads stretch in
Nice job. You should make yourself a stitching pony for stitching up the leather. This works way better than freehanded. Plenty of YT-tutorials if you search for them.
yeah sadly they do dull pretty fast and since they're not really easy to sharpen again you have to buy new blades pretty often :/ best long term solution is a leatherworking round knife
cedricfilm Yea tried to strop one of those blades once, last time I used them! Don’t really want to throw away blades that often. I get good results with a quality utility knife blade and stropping often. Definitely want to invest in better knives with nice steels.
I' ve made two piece liners for a belt, but never considered sewing pieces of a belt together. I used a double rectangular loop to make a belt for a really fat man with a measured 62 inch waist. Ah dude, don't drill your belt holes they don't look right and are raggedy. Buy a cheap set of punches at Hobby Lobby for $7 and have 8 different sizes. I've had to do my leather on the cheap because I'm a knifemaker and if you have a 2x72 belt grinder like l saw you're probably a knifemaker too? I use a drill when going through 3 layers of leather for a knife sheath as that's just too far to punch and getting the stitching chisel out is how you break off tines on your chisels. Of course l have cheaper brand chisels, but l haven't broke off any tines yet. This is the first time I've watched your channel, this was fun and humorous when you put the glue on the wrong side. lol Edit, just went to your home page you're a knifemaker among other things. I thought so.
Hell0 brother i just wanna ask at what price are u buying leather per meter and how much i will have to bye to get leather at lower price kindly ans plzz
it s a good jobs, but,si tu prenais une lame neuve,tu n aurais pas a recouper dans ta ligne 2 a 4 fois, car ce n est pas bon de toujours recouper et recouper,au pire quand tu voit que sa coupe mal, change ta lame...Amicalement.A.H.D.
I find the kits are a waste of money just pick a specific project that you want to do and then figure out what specifically you need for it I found that all I really need to start with was a razor blade a stitching fork and thread and needles

Wow! What a beautiful piece of work. Love it! Thank you 🙏 for demonstrating it.
Wow... thumbs up man... this proves one does not need fancy tools to produce a good looking belt.

Sound was so relaxing.
Looks great
why the hell does this Sound so satisfying?!
Really nice job 👍 but I think a black finish would've been a better match for your magnificent belt buckle. 😊
Thanks! :) As now I only have brown dye, I need to get more colors.
Soak sreel wool in vinegar until it dissolves, strain and spread on leather. There is your black dye, wont rub off and is pretty much free!

If you're going to make more leather projects, you should invest in a roll cutter! it made my straight lines a huge lot easier to cut
Damn! I have one! Completely forgot about it. Ahah!
That's what youtube comments are for haha :p
cedricfilm They are really nice to use but I find they dull pretty quick. Does this happen to you?
