Great point - We appreciate the suggestion and like hearing ideas on how we can improve future videos! We tried to keep this video fun and practical, by comparing the common battery setups with two frequently asked about landmarks. Maybe in a future video we will get more technical!
How did you determine battery usage? The battery meters aren't linear, although Evolution's is pretty good. Did you use the Star battery App? And 47 miles using 70% battery isn't very good for Star. Won't get you 80 mile range.
That equates to about $1.80 in electricity for a 67-mile range, plus no oil to ever change, no fuel, air & oil filters, spark plugs, etc. Not bad, but that initial price :-(
The ICON and Evolution are only 1-year old; however, you bring up a great point. We have customers comparing these two models (with these exact battery packs) to what we have in our showrooms. Because of that, we wanted to show the range differences in a real world test! Thanks for pointing that out-we appreciate the conversation!
I know the batteries are much smaller than a car, but still it would be nice to have the Level 2 charging ability. My garage already has it waiting, and to be able to top off at the big centers would eliminate range anxiety especially as the batteries age. Not something The Villages can control about what the manufacturers see as advantageous selling points, but for me it would be a big deal.
Great question! No headlights and no speakers, because the equipment would be different from golf car to golf car. Also worth noting, the Star EV had extra weight, it was the only cart with (2) people. The driver, camera man, and although it didn’t weigh much - also had the cameras/drone equipment bag as well as a small cooler with drinks for the entire group.
The miles will be less with lights on! We didn't include the Yamaha, because it only comes with a 105 amp hr battery pack. Because of this, we don't stock this model at this time! Great question.
Really… do you need that much range, most people don’t.. Yeah ,depends on how much you drive, don’t have to fill the tank as often, But you still need to stop for gas, do more maintenance than a electric cart, Deal with the gas fumes and noise..😖 electric.. very little maintenance, no gas no noise, smooth ride, great power… better for the environment 👍plus, you can charge at home 😃 It would be nice if the Villages considered installing some chargers at the town centers, so folks can top off.. during a lunch break… seeing how the Villages, is expanding, and more people want to explore new place via golf cars..
@@cback94 A lot of valid points, my point is id you want to drive now from one end of the villages to the other and back again (round trip) you wont be able to in an ev, but could do it in a gas cart.
We love your videos! Keep them coming!
Thank you!
That was super informative/enlightening!
Seems you should compare amp hours per mile or total ah used. Of course the Star will go further because it has a bigger battery.

One battery that is twice as big against 2 used carts. Not sure that is a good comparison

Did you run with the lights on, did you play a Bluetooth speaker while taking the trip?

Can't hear you very well when you reveal the numbers :(
Why not include the Yamaha electric? The miles will be less at night with lights on.

Morale of the story, buy a Gas Powered cart, 250 mile range.

@@ScottHirschman I've done it in our Star from The Enclave to Spanish Springs and had about 30% battery left so you are dead wrong sir...
