Beetles love burrowing. They dislike the light and their "bedding" should be deeper than them, so they can burrow into it.

Usually if the conditions are right you shouldn't have much of a problem with shedding, but it can still occur. I've never used a shedding aid, but I do have a video on how to remove stuck shed using just water - ua-cam.com/video/tcWHa7wrH9Y/v-deo.html

Yup!... Had my #1 little buddy (Bart) since 2018 & haven't needed either if those items (luckily, knock on wood!). Keeping a good moist hide & giving your gecko a soak works wonders on shed. [I call it his "spa day & he loves it!] I use Zoo Med Electrolyte Soak in his warm "bathwater"! 😁 ~ I have learned everything about his care from this channel & researching other sites, so as long as you keep learning, you will be a great scaly-baby parent! 🥰🦎💛

I actually made a farm like this myself last year! (same setup essentially) rather than bowls (which food gets dragged off of) I found laying the carrots out on paper towels did the trick, they make a couple of holes over time but the food usually stays on it and the bedding is dry.

I recommend using paper towel instead of bran for the pupae. Bran allows them to burrow after they emerge and you might miss them. Paper towel they will grab onto and you can easily shake them into your adult container.

Thank you, that's a handy hint! Whenever I find pupae in the substrate, I put them in another container for our pet mice - they love them. We're going to start a mealie breeding colony so I'll use paper towels for the pupae.

I used a big storage container and just filled it with the shavings they came with. I’d feed them with gutloading stuff to keep them from eating eggs pupae or babies but I never separated them bc they always seemed to die when I did. I ended up having to rehome my reptiles and just kind of forgot about the colony it ended up surviving just fine and continuing to breed for 3 years with no food or water or separating just feeding off the old beetle carcasses. It was so weird👀

Separate the beetles from the worms and continue to feed them and provide them moisture. They will continue to provide you with more worms. When some of the grown worms become beetles start over. Eventually you'll have enough worms at various stages of growth and won't have to purchase worms at all.

They don’t fly. They’re not better than roaches. You can breed them, use them as a cleanup crew, and/or feed them to the gecko as a treat. Although it’s ideal to feed them off when they’re freshly pupated and still white/light brown so they’re easier to digest.

Hi! I have had my leopard gecko for almost 2 years, and I’ve been feeding him a couple times a week, but I wanted to know the correct and best amount to feed him and how much. He usually eats crickets and mealworms but occasionally will get some other types of worms such as wax worms. I do use calcium powder, but only when I’m feeding crickets, it tends to just fall off the mealworms. How much and how often should I feed him?
One more question, how often should I handle him? I like to give him a little time out of his tank maybe a couple times a week, since his tank is only 10 gallons, how often should I be doing this? I want him to have time to be out of his tank, it just seems a bit small, but I don’t have room to upgrade his tank, but I don’t want to stress him out, how often should I take him out of his tank?
Sorry this is so long, just wanted some advice, thanks!

You can give them around ten feeder insects every two or three days but also you should definitely upgrade the tank I have my Leo in a three foot long exo terra and she loves it. Also if u don’t have the space to upgrade him try to rehome him because i get it’s ur pet but u wouldn’t want to be in a small box ur whole life. Also handling him to often is probably stressing him out.

@@justinayala6725 ok, thank you. I’m resigning my bed room in a couple months, when I do I’ll have space for a 20 gallon long, I can upgrade him to that in a couple months (:

My mealworms are breeding but there’s no beetles im very confused. I bought 60 from the store two months ago and I feed my four leopard geckos every few days and haven’t run out so I assume they’re breeding. I feed them carrots every few days as well. HELP!

Pet UA-camrs are not vets you should probably go and consult a exotic vet

my crested gecko is nearly 7 months old and is growing nicely (maybe a bit small but they’re eating and has defiantly grown since i got them at 2 months). i have recently moved them out of the large critter keeper into an 12x12x18 as i noticed that they used up all the room and kept hitting the wall. i moved them 3 days ago but i haven’t noticed them move off the floor, they sleep under the tissue but then at night stay on the floor. is this something to be worried about or are they just a bit stressed with the new move ?

    • @nickname3188

I would say that they're probably just stressed with the new move but if they continue go to an exotic vet and please remember pet UA-camrs are not exotic pets

You can order eco earth and that is the best substrate because it won’t Impact them

I'm not great with the sort of stuff but it could be spring tails if they're really tiny white and jump then I'd say it's spring tails but that's the only thing that comes to my mind

My leopard gecko is... 15 years old at least. She still looks OK, a little thin, but she's not eating very much and she will NOT be fed. She doesn't seem to be able to see very well anymore so I moved from crickets to meal worms. Has anybody had a leo live so long?? Is she just not hungry or is she going to quit eating and die? I have warmed the enclosure a bit because I read it might encourage digestion and appetite.
