    Hi! I am a second year dental student and will be having a baby in January!! Your videos are encouraging seeing how you balance medical school and motherhood. Any tips for being in school with a newborn and what your schedule looked like when returning to school?

      Hi Jada!
      Congratulations on your little one ❤️ For me, I asked for 6 weeks to go virtual to fully recover before going back in person. My school worked with me and I got to do some anatomy sessions virtually, and I only had to come in once for a test and one other time for a simulation. Other than that, I spent that time bonding with my little one and recovering while classes played in the background lol. When I went back for mandatory in person class, I spent that time studying as much as I could so when I came back I could be with my family. It's definitely an adjustment period, but I'm motivated to keep pushing through so I can go back to where our family lives for residency so she can grow up with them!🥰 hopefully that helped and let me know if you have any other questions!

    Hello! Hopefully this isn’t too much to ask but in all of your four years of nursing school what we’re all the courses you needed to take, including the medical school/pre med courses you took during the summer. I mainly want to know about the pre-med courses

    Hey what was your clerkship schedule

    • @Romi_joy
      @Romi_joy  6 місяців тому +1

      It depended on what I was in at the time but essentially OB and surgery are your longest days and hours with 12 hr days being your average 5-6x a week. You do a lot of clinic too which is more like 8-5 M-F on the weeks you have it. Pediatrics and internal medicine are usually not too bad hours wise and goes from 7am-2pm typically

      Thank you ❤️😊 honestly I take it day by day, but she motivates me to finish school so I can hopefully do residency back where my family is, so she can be raised knowing them more 🥰

    How many shelf exams do you have to take and how many step and complex USA you take in medical school. Is the shelf exms part of getting your license along with the complex and step

    • @Romi_joy
      @Romi_joy  Рік тому

      We take 6 core shelf exams during medical school but some medical schools have 1-2 more. We take step 1 and step 2 but I go to an MD school so we don’t take complex. Shelf exams are a part of getting our overall MD and we can’t move forward with taking step until we pass them

    How old is your daughter? Is she still 10 months? I couldn’t tell from the video if you were saying that she started walking at 10 months or if she’s currently 10 months… or both LOL. Does your husband work from home, is he a full time stay at home dad or do you have other childcare help? Just curious how it works having a young child when you’re so busy.

    • @Romi_joy
      @Romi_joy  Рік тому +1

      She is 15 months now haha! She started walking at 10 months but now she runs as fast as she can away from us lol. He is a full time stay at home dad while working on his pilot certifications which is very flexible so when I'm home, he gets to go fly! We have no other childcare help so we have to make it work between the two of us

      @@Romi_joy ah ok thanks for responding! Our daughter is 10 months, she’s walking but your daughter is so much faster and seemed so advanced, like off the charts advanced!! so I was shocked when I heard 10 months 😂 I figured I must have misunderstood. That’s great he’s able to stay home with her. I also live away from my family and have zero childcare help so I’m always intrigued to see how others manage. Your little girl seems so happy and she’ll really appreciate your hard work when she’s old enough to understand how you did this to provide a great life for her!
