2:42 I Always Wanted To See The Bell With The 2 Hammers Strike From A Side View. Because There's Pretty Much Zero Footage Of It At That Angle. So You're The First To Deliver This Footage. Thank You. Also It's Eerie Seeing The Hammers Strike But No Sound Is Being Produced.
Thank you! Yes I knew about the twin hammers and wanted to make sure I got it as you’re right. No one else seems to have footage of it. Yes it was very strange seeing the hammers lift and drop but no sound! Definitely not something I’m likely to experience again
Good video! I think it's generally a pity that nobody films the clockwork on the hour. The clockwork is only filmed at the half or quarter hour but never at the full hour
Usually I would have but this time while testing, the strike train was completely unwound, they were only testing the chime train at this point. I filmed it chime for 12pm but the strike side remained still
I was standing on speakers green, this is the east side of the tower facing towards Westminster bridge and the Thames. If you’re on the bridge, it’s the small patch of green below the tower, inbetween the bridge and the speakers residence.
@@dave_dyl_1655 Bet the speaker gets a lot of sleep with that chiming, where the speaker lives/or stays, put the head to a side window to where he lives,he has got a clearer view of Big Ben,tell me,is the entrance to Big Ben far from there?? Thanks.
@@jamesnicholson2503 it’s not so bad actually. When you’re inside it’s not as loud. Even in the tower, you feel the vibrations more than you can hear the bell. The entrance to the tower is at the bottom there’s a couple ways in. Through new palace yard below the arches or the arch in speakers green. There’s an open arch lobby with left, the speakers green and right new palace yard. Behind you is back into parliament and ahead is the arched entrance to the tower.
@@dave_dyl_1655 So,from New Palace yard the main arch way the biggest one in front of the tower? And the other entrance is where you was with that man sawing, back your self back/ walk backwards to to opening of speakers Green yes? Go though the arch way, turn left, and more or less the tower entrance is to the left as your walking yes? And keep walking straight and you should come out into New Palace yard and Big Ben right above you,am I right?? Thank you.
@@dave_dyl_1655 Thanks for getting back to me mate,I swear on UA-cam watching you up in side it going right up to the Ayton light. With that fella in front of you,you looked towards palices yard old one,and through the mesh window I swear I seen a walk around ot i'm I wrong? This was before the official completion day. They were still doing final tests on the chime and strike mechanism. They barred the hammers back meaning the hammers still physically lifted and dropped but were set back from hitting the bells, they wanted to make sure the movement was functioning properly before reconnecting the bells
This was before restoration had completed. When the bells were being intermittently rung. The hammers were lifted back so when they dropped they weren’t actually connecting with the bells
I always wanted to see a picture of you with Big Ben in 2003 when you were 3 years old

Wow! It must have been cool to work there

@@samprice2393 Did you also film the clockwork?
@@tcat2484 No I didn't go inside of Big Ben yet
i like the two hammer design one one because that note needs to be played twice without a lot of time in between
I, don't think I could go up there,it would freak me out too much.
Can some one tell me please, out side with the Ayton light is,there is s walk way??
What part of the palace was he then standing right by that work man,and the tower?

There are walk ways around the outside of this.
There is a walk way outside the Ayton light.
Not outside but inside the structure

There’s space to walk but it’s not designed as an accessible walkway like the belfry. The entrance due to security I can’t share photos of that area.
