I have watched this movie dozens of times..I watch it everytime it comes on TV.. even tho I have the DVD...It is my favorite John Wayne movie...Walter Brennan, Dean Martin and sweet Ricky Nelson are so awesome, what a great team they made....
LOVE Dean in this movie. I love the part where he pours the whisky back into the bottle. And there is NO tremor at all in his hands. Love Dean anyway!!
The song Rio Bravo IS in the film...at the very end, Dino sings the last few words of the song and the film fades to black: '...by the memory of a song, while the river Rio Bravo flows along; while the river Rio Bravo flows along..."
The tune was the theme of the movie, but you only hear Dean Martin singing one short chorus refrain at the very end of the final credits. A shame, a nice song, suited for Dean's interpretive style.
THIS IS MY FAVORITE WESTERN THE GREAT JOHN WAYNE FANTASTIC DEAN MARTIN GOOD YOUNG RICKY NELSON AND THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMEN IN THE WORLD AT THAT TIME ANGIE DICKINSON
@PlatineIridie Dean Martin sings the final phrase "And the rolling Rio Bravo rolls along" as a final coda at the end of the closing credits. The melody was lilting in several places during the movie, but with a more Latin bent. Good catch, Platineldidie. "
This is a great song, it's a shame they never used it in the film considering it's about Dean Martin's character, with the Spanish girl that left him etc. Must have been some back story cut out of the script. Cause the tune is still in the movie, but no lyrics.
@doctornoooo I have not watched Rio Bravo for at least 2 years (what am I doing!?!) but I sort of remember the music is in the movie, without lyrics and at a much faster tempo. Was it at beginning of the movie... :S Dear UA-cam friends, do you confirm my failing memories?
I obviously know nothing about music - or at least singing - because I think this song typifies just what a lovely voice and singing style Dean Martin had. They rave about Frank Sinatra ... pah, there's more music in a single phrase by Dean than in a whole song by the almost tuneless Chairman of the Board.
yes I didnt make myself clear: it is in the movie but not sung by him: thats whats so odd, since it was almost turned into a musical later on by the trio, Martin should have sung it somewhere too since he was turned into a drunk by that woman he walks along the river singing about anyway another poster here has made it much clearer than I
very very odd that this remarkable tune is nowhere in the film: strange, why not justput it over the credits, instead it was recorded for money a record say, but it just dont make sense folks something this melodic should have been somewhere in the movie with those other songs that were
For a guy who was known as a lounge singer, Dean sure made one hell of a cowboy and a country western singer.

Dean can sing ...Love these old songs. Sons of the Pioneers were great too.
Dean Martin could sing so effortlessly and simply that he was a joy to watch as well as listen to. There will never be another.
The Duke and Dino in one of the best westerns ever made, thanks for this nice tribute
It's in my top five all time favorite John Wayne Westerns!
THE best for me-------------the muddy boots scene was great
Dino was such a gifted singer and actor. I could listen to him sing all day long. He had a voice as smooth as velvet.
I play this song of dean every night it is hard to express how good he still is
[last lines]
Stumpy : You think I'll ever get to be a sheriff?
Dude : Not unless you mind your own business.
[Stumpy cackles]
