    I love watching your videos, Meredith. I was hoping if you could try to do another asl video for all types of flowers that we see or don't see often. Like roses, sunflower and more. Because flowers are so beautiful at this time season.

      It's great that people watch these videos from all over the world! American Sign Language came from France, and it is not universal. Keep in mind that Korea has a different alphabet than what we use in ASL. You might want to consider learning Korean Sign Language for you to communicate accurately where you live.

    • @RoxolanaTheArtist
      @RoxolanaTheArtist Місяць тому +1

      I dont know many signs at all but you could start with the sign for "emergency" by making an "E" sign and shaking your hand like how she showed a shaking "T" for bathroom.
      I agree though! Emergency/Drill signs would be very useful. Id love to see a video on that as well. I feel that is when we need more people signing the most 😬 Id like to see words for "safe vs not safe" and basic situation explainers. eg there is a fire, robbery, tornado (the most likely scenarios in my area)

If you're looking for more content specifically from us I would recommend our own LHTS accelerated membership. It's about the same price and has 3 courses and loads more. learnhowtosign.org

    can anyone explain to me why ASL and english do not have the same sentence structure? like, why would they not? why was it made to have such, interesting placement of words? i think thats what makes this language so hard for me, my brain cannot understand how the sentences work. for example, instead of saying "i need water'" you would say "water need me", but, that makes 0 logistical sense. how can water need you? do you see my issue?

    • @defectiveaffect
      @defectiveaffect 2 роки тому

      Well it's the same for every other language, the structure when literally translated doesn't work to be perfect english.
      For you're specific example there is a video about sentence structure that explains why it's worded like that. But basically ASL is a topic comment language. The topic, what it's doing and it's relation to you or what you're saying. Water is the topic you're referring too, now what about the water? Well it's needed, so who needs it? You. Therefore "water need me"

    • @jj-fk9ez
      @jj-fk9ez 2 роки тому

      @@defectiveaffect i mean... i understand that. but why is AMERICAN sign language not like english? i would get it if another sign language from another country did not match up with english. but whoever made ASL the way it is, pisses me off. it is genuinely such stupid wording. and on top of that? people who are deaf, and sign, do not text like they speak. why would it not just be the same shit.

    • @LearnHowtoSign
      @LearnHowtoSign  2 роки тому +2

      ASL structure is topic comment structure. Even though it is called American Sign Language it has is own grammar.

    • @defectiveaffect
      @defectiveaffect 2 роки тому

      @@jj-fk9ez Cause it doesn't need to be complicated
      Like said it is its own language. While there is technical sign (sign language literally word for word of English) it's not used often cause many find it inconvenient (those usually being deaf folks)
      While yea it does make it a tad more difficult to learn it makes it a lot easier to sign with others for longer periods of time
