  • A condition called idiopathic scoliosis, an abnormal curvature of the spine, can cause deformity and even more pain for children. Some are now opting for a new type of surgery to correct this condition. Vertebral Body Tethering (VBT) attaches a cord to the spine to guide growth. It is currently only offered at the National University Hospital, which said 12 people did the procedure last year. Professor Wong Hee Kit, a spine surgery specialist from the National University Spine Institute, and Ang Xuan Ni, a patient who underwent VBT, shared more about the procedure.

There's an error in the video's title. "Young patients opting for new spine surgery called idiopathic scoliosis to preserve flexibility" The condition is called Idiopathic Scoliosis, the surgery procedure is Vertebral Body Tethering (VBT).

It's never good to have too many procedures. Keep it minimum as much as possible

Prof Paul Tambyah noted that in the 1960 and 1970s, Singapore had a “single-payer healthcare system”, noting that “some people think that is Singapore’s golden era of growth and development” throughout which the Republic has already “achieved very high standards of healthcare”.

“This payment from a single source rather than multiple sources from the 3Ms eliminates the present complicated subsidy system,” said Prof Tambyah.

There's a device that create remembrance to be in a nice body position so spine doesn't curve, to place at back of body. I think to be salesman of it 1 day.
