    Sir your videos are excellent. There is really nothing like them on UA-cam. I have been involved in competitive shooting since the early eighties (small bore and air rifle) I started competing in high power after I got out of the service in the mid nineties. Everyone was amazed at my high standing scores combined with the fact that I would often finish dead last in aggregate. ( One time I actually placed first in standing at one local match and dead last in aggregate.). I Didn't know how to use sling and was using a Argentine Mauser with stripper clips so rapid fire was always very sporting to say the least. Despite my experience in this sport I always take away something new from each of your videos. I really appreciate the time and trouble you go to in making these videos and I recommend them to fellow shooters both in and out of the sport a lot. It's great to have a source of information like this to be able to use in order to promote our sport. Thanks

    I've watched this video several times and seem to get just a little more out of it each time. I first watched it several weeks back and since then am convinced that I have benefited from NPOA adjustment (not being satisfied until I'm convinced that I find it - then shooting) and also not spending too much time aiming, when I first started it was as if i "just had to get the shot off", thanks to your reminders I am now much more comfortable resetting if I miss the window of opportunity for a good, clean shot.
    You have an excellent voice for narration and explanations are concise. Great stuff and, like anything of quality, it keeps on giving :)

    Konrad, I really haven't done much competition shooting so much of this is new to me. Lately I've started placing far more emphasis and conscious effort in developing correct posture, technique, breathing, etc. Yet, having little experience to draw on and without knowing and fully understanding the correct WAY to practice, progress and improvement have been...lackluster at best. This is the second of your videos I've now absorbed, if you will. I was at the range earlier today for about 4 hours. It's now 10:25 PM but I really wanna head right on back there now, ha ha ha. I've suffered through educational, tutorial, instructional videos, on all manor of subject matter, by individuals with a lifetime of related experience but who were incapable of effectively imparting that experience to others. I've watched and listened to instructors who possessed PHD's from Harvard but, unfortunately, also possessed the innate ability to put an entire classroom to sleep. On the other hand, I've always believed that there are also those individuals who are natural born teachers. They can't even help themselves but to be so. I think that you Sir fall into that category. I hit the subscribed within the first 3 minutes of this video. I knew I had found a solid source of information to build on. Thank you! t

    I made it my business to shoot all my calibers proficiently out to 200 yards. I get 4-6"(some much better- but not always-lol). Guide the firearm to where you want it. Pull rifle firmly into your chest, hold firmly against your cheek, and firmly squeeze both hands. Follow through and keep eyes on your point of aim. Absorb the recoil without all the muzzle rise. Flex your pectoral muscle keeping the rifle as close to the middle of your chest as possible.Good video and advice. However these guys make a big deal of shooting with these shooting jackets and fancy holds. LMAO I'd wager there a quite a few local boys around the country that are purists and shoot just as well or better without all the equipment and concept. Aim, keep steady, follow through.lol It basically comes down to not moving the firearm. Wow that's an intricate concept.And without all the details. Just practice,practice,practice and force yourself to get better. lol

    If I may, I do have a question...
    I've noticed, in both of these videos, that in the moments just prior to firing, you pump or perhaps twitch your trigger finger ever so slightly. Is this a deliberate action and, if so, why?

    • @konrad1853
      @konrad1853  3 роки тому +1

      That's a common question that I get and maybe I should make a video that's just dedicated to that. It's a sub-conscious movement and I'm guessing I do it as a way of working my way through the first stage of the trigger.

    Noticed your UBR was on 2 or 3(?) For standing, I've seen more use 1, but suspect it's all based on sight picture and relief. Hence is that a 2 or 3" cantilever mount?

    • @konrad1853

      The buttstock position is based on a combination of eye relief and rifle balance. I always want to pull the rifle closer to me but I still have to have adequate eye relief and head position. The mount is the White Oak Armament 10MOA extended scope mount.

    I have a question that I perceive to be about stamina. Thanks to videos like these, I have improved greatly in the last several months, especially when shooting 3 position (rimfire) on strings of 10 shots standing. However, if/when I have a shot or shots out of my group, it typically happens during shot number 8,9, or 10. At times I can focus enough to where this doesn't happen but often it feels like I simply don't have the "stamina" to maintain the whole shot process over the course of a 10 shot string.
    Do you have any thoughts on this and perhaps a suggestion for practice to properly identify what is happening and overcome this? At first, standing, offhand shooting was my nemesis but now I enjoy it very much and it has become a strong position for me, and maybe will be my strongest - if I can just get over this last hurdle mentioned. One idea I had was to practice shooting strings of 15 but haven't tried that as of yet. Thank you for any thoughts you can share with me.

    • @konrad1853
      @konrad1853  6 років тому +3

      One suggestion is one that you have already mentioned. Shoot a practice string that is more shots than your record strings. But be careful to keep the same focus and motivation on all shots. Don't look at the extra shots as just more practice.
      Also, look at your process for each shot. Focus on executing that process rather than what shot you are on. Your goal should be to execute the best you can for the next shot. Don't worry about the shots that have come before or will come after.

    Awesome techniques, I am into nrl prs idpa type shooting and was looking for tips for off hand shooting. What are the jacket and glove for? Are they weighted?

    • @konrad1853
      @konrad1853  4 роки тому +1

      The glove is for general padding and comfort when supporting the rifle. The jacket provides padding and stiffness for your torso. Take a look at my "Three Shooting Coats" video for more information on different jackets and how they can help when shooting standing.

    Excellent tips. Thanks Konrad. My apologies for the second question in two videos but at 1:28 I see your rear QD sling swivel with your sling clip attached. I've purchased two different QD swivels and neither will accept the clip that came on my CMP sling as your sling appears to be. I thought I was destined to simply attach the sling directly to the swivel without using the clip. Am I nuts? (Please don't answer.) Or, which QD sling swivel are you using here? Again thanks so much for your help and hopefully I can return the favor one day.

    • @konrad1853
      @konrad1853  Рік тому

      I probably should have been clearer in my response.
      The rules for highpower don't allow the sling to be used for support in the standing position but do require that a sling be attached to the rifle. This may sound silly, and I don't know what that rule is based on, but this has always been the case. Since the sling is used for the other stages it's just as easy to keep in on the rifle anyway.
      You probably don't want to leave the sling hanging down from the front swivel but as long as it's close to the rifle there isn't much added sway. There is much more wobble from my position than the sling.

    Sir, great videos! I`m trying to shoot airgun with scope. I`m shooting 35m offhand trying to finally shoot 100 ;) I have some issues with eyes, so i use glasses and scope. Even in glasses using a diopter is nightmare, my peepsight is very eliptic :(. Going back to glasses. I have some issues usign them. I don't know if it's hot air from nose, or my body temperature, but the glasses got foggy if i aim to long. It's very disturbing. As i watch videos on internet, many shooters uses glasses. But i feel a litte bit alone with my problem. Did You have that problem? Best Regards!

    • @konrad1853
      @konrad1853  6 років тому +1

      I've never had a problem with my glasses fogging. The glasses that I use are a little further away from my face than other ones and they have smaller lenses. These factors may contribute to more air movement between the glasses and my face, limiting the possibility of fogging.

    Oddly enough, I actually find slow prone to be most difficult. Being prone for up to twenty minutes gets very uncomfortable, and tests my discipline more than offhand.

    • @konrad1853
      @konrad1853  6 років тому +2

      If you're uncomfortable in prone, you will be thinking more about getting out of position rather than the next shot. When you're away from the range, work on proper sling tension. The sling should be doing the work of supporting the rifle when your support arm and shoulder are relaxed.

    • @silvermediastudio
      @silvermediastudio 6 років тому +1

      You're likely doing it wrong. You should be ready to take a nap when you're in the prone position. Consider military snipers who will maintain a prone firing position for hours on end, it has to be comfortable.
