I "liked" the video right after the awesome spin move at the beginning. :)

I've installed these on 2 or 3 of my steel string guitars, and as you said, there's only one shot to get it right.
I really appreciate your taking the time to put this out there. I'm installing one on my wife's classical guitar next week, and your help has taken a lot of stress out of the prospect.
Nice thinking, and thanks for sharing!

So how the fuck does it sound? Isn't it important to know how the line signal sounds after watching a video that proofs that it got installed in the best possible way..? You left out the most interesting part! Big thanks for the installation guide! I hope next time we`ll see the full story ;)

I have been watching this video for a while, and wondered if there would be any other method of installing the pickup without the elaborate ways of drilling holes in your guitar (horrific thought), and making the wood block. And I think I found one, and I want to share it here: instead of drilling holes as fudicials, we can use small but strong magnets placed on top close to the saddle. then there is a duplicate of that which you would insert in the guitar. The small magnets will align the 2 boards in and out, and on the inside board you cut out 3 holes as guide to glue the pickups. Make up the magnets sitting on a thin piece of cloth to prevent scratches. Voila, no drilling, and simple. Thank to saba for the inspiration.

Hi Bic! Could you please explain the process one more time? I don't get how will you cut out 3 holes to guide the pick up. Thanks in advance!!

After I drilled the hole, I inserted an oak dowel (with the same diameter as the socket itself) through the end hole and into the socket to pull it through the hole. The internal nut is then adjusted to minimize the amount of the threaded section protruding from the end of the guitar. Finally, the outside nut is screwed to the end and tightened to secure the unit. I hope this helps!

+Steve Lawrie No I have not. Funny thing is I was just looking online today for a K and K pickup to finally get this going. I think you should go for it, it looks like a solid method.

Behrod! What a joy to find you on UA-cam after visiting your shop in Philadelphia! One of my K&K nodes came loose from a guitar and your little jig trick nailed it for me. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll send you a final production model of our Journey Instruments Classical Overhead Travel Guitar for your shop to consign.

Aguitarmaker: To install the plug socket, I drilled a hole with a diameter equivalent to the threaded portion of the plugsocket sleeve. The plug socket end for this pick-up was fitted with two nuts, one that remains inside the guitar against the end-block, and the another on the outside.

I added a Fender preamp + tuner as well, so the hole for the preamp gave me enough space to set the piezos properly under the bridge. I hate the idea of drilling at the bridge area

@@vayabro1 awesome sounds! You hear through the speakers the same sounds you hear unplugged. I bought a number of Fender Fishman classic preamps (4T, I think) from an eBay seller a few years ago

The instruction manual said the inner pickups are spread evenly between the outer ones, and it does not mention that they have to sit between the strings A&D and G&B. ALso it does not mention about the outer pickups to sit right on top of the strings. So in your own experience, which direction is correct?

a beautiful jig you've made. I'm considering installing this p.u. on a nylon st classic contrabass guitar, Esteve, that we converted to a 5 st for better bass guitar string spacing .I tune the top st to hiC. , regular bass guitar the other 4. Since I have 4 spaces between strings it seems logical to place a pickup under each. Thanks for the vid

OK, I need to revise a bit to remove the confusion: No card board on the outside, only 2 mangets placed at the 2 ends of the saddle. The inside cardboard is cut to the shape of the outside saddle with 3 holes as locations for the pickups.

I bought the 3-pieces journey pick-up for my classic, realizing now there is this spar right in the middle of the bridge. So I can do 1 on each side of the spar and the third one some other place - where would you recommend to place the third one?

I REALLY not recommend this methode. You want be able to apply the appropriate force and censor risk to stick to the template. It s far better to stuck by hand censor after censor.

By way of film direction advise: For your next video please eliminate your quick hand movements and most especially when the camera is up close. It's extremely distracting and annoying. Your hand moves should be deliberate, intentional and specific to indicate positions and objects only rather than for emotional reasons or emulating a spastic sign language. I had to put it on slower speed to avoid further visual discomfort.

I hope that children of the USA will learn, in the future, not to say aaah aaaaah between every second word. I didn't have the nerve to watch (and hear) the video, although I would like to see that K&K pickup being installed.

Identify your country so I can criticize your culture...but then again why would I criticize your culture? That would be criticizing a general population that has not been offensive; its just you that has chosen to be offensive so I should criticize you and not your culture. Morten Bjorgan, you are an intolerant individual and thank goodness I don't have to deal with you. As the planet gets more and more populated, we need less and less of your intolerance and your need to express your intolerance.
