I've built cars over the years where i've done it right, and wrong. From times I smashed it out of the park with our partners, creating some truly authentic stories ya'll love, to times where I have completely dropped the ball in timeframes, expectations, or just due to a change in scope. So in today's video I want to talk about the age old question I used to get all the time "Hey can you sponsor me?" and how I go about it after attending PRI 2023; also known as the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show. It's not hard: have a build that is almost complete or complete ENOUGH to gain a proper following and win some 2nd places at shows. Companies ain't gonna give parts to a car that isn't built at all unless you're TJ Hunt.

You have to post it respectfully in your email to the company and tell them your plans with the build and ask them WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR THE COMPANY.

What was it like?!
@@AlexMartini. it was awesome! They had a ton of vendors of course. I got to see the lamborghini Gallardo and chevy corvette race cars. Not sure which ones they raced in. But the corvette was on a stand with the nose in the air so you could see it's aluminum chassis. It was cool. I came home with a stack of catalogs I never used. 🫢😅. But I wasn't there to enjoy it. It was like a spy mission. Company I worked for had a drop in sales and they suspected that the lead installer was getting another company to produce similar parts and sell them under the name of the company I worked for. My job was to go in there and retrieve the literature from that guy. It was in fact our literature. Lawyers got involved and I stayed out of what happened after.
This company I worked for eventually had to let us all go because of the 2008 crash. By bosses exact words "I have to let you all go for now, I can't even afford to pay myself $40,000 a month anymore." That was the end of the conversation and I left. Anyway probably didn't need to say that but it was a wild experience I will never forget. Also that boss was into cars too. He had an S2000, a lexus is250, a Nissan frontier that i installed a lift kit on, like 4 old school land rovers from the UK and Africa. He also had a ford expedition, and an H3 hummer. Ok I'm done. I also had no car at the time..... 😒😔

Great video Alex! I'm in the process of building a time attack e36, and I don't want to go with a cheap rep seat that's extremely unsafe, but some of the real options are sooo expensive like you said. What would be a good budget option for someone building their first track car?
