John Alexander Dowie was a powerful pioneer in the divine healing movement and saw incredible results. Starting in a small hut in Chicago in 1893, he had grown into a global ministry. But somewhere along the way Dowie began to derail.

you should explain about the challenge given by Mirza Gulam Ahmad of Qadiyan, India to Dr Dowie. The challenge from Mirza Gulam Ahmad (70 years old) was " You will die before me and the God will humiliate you (55 years old Dr Dowie) and the world will see that". And it was exactly happened.
That sounds like fake news.

Your missing what he's teaching. Or lest what the people are teaching he's preaching on .like we don't compliment people. Clap for them . Or anything like that . But it's alot about prayer . reading His word. Just look at dowie he believes he Elijah. That guy up in heaven some place. But people exalted him to much, so the devil got to him . I'm mostly wigglesworth. Understand what he's saying. .. like the worse thing you hear about him was he liked some girl , after he lost his wife. And it was kind of like he hit on her. But like the worse thing he ever did . 😅
Dowey really went off the deep end. John Lake spoke great things of him, even after the building of Zion.
There was a prophecy about Dowie by Mirza Ghulam Qadiani.

I suggest that without Dowey Chicago would still be a swamp.
I have been researching on him. Is it true he didn't allow them to use medicine at Zion? It was said that he let one lady die in horrible pain with no medicine to ease her pain. Supposedly, her husband was there when she died and called Dowie to pray, and he wouldn't even come over there....just offered a prayer from a distance.
I'm pushing 80 yrs old and grew up in Zion. Dowie said that doctors who prescribe medicine have to be alcoholic or drug addicts. He said a sobber man could not deal with a dead body.

It's always sad when believers take their focus off God and get derailed into harmful, nonproductive things. Also, did anyone find it weird that he married his 1st cousin?

You will know them by their fruit! His was rotten from the beginning and now it is obvious! There are no more prophets, only profits!
Maybe he became materialistic but he was creating jobs for people. builders, tradecraft people to make faucets, seamstresses to make clothes, housekeepers, he probably had a chef, etc. If you walk around in T shirts and sneakers and spend all your money on the latest I phoney from way over yonder, there aint gonna be any money for anybody.
