I love it when you have a matte finish on the peices. Love the puzzle your doing. I am doing 3000 pc Karen Puzzles......getting there as I can only work on it on weekends til summer break gets here June 12th. 🎉
Matte finishes are definitely the best in my opinion 💜🧩
As always, I enjoy your voiceovers! It’s awesome to watch a Timelapse while also taking in information. I have only done 2 Art and Fable puzzles. They are tricky to speed run, but I love the artwork! They have a velvety texture that I haven’t decided if I like or not, Falcon puzzles feel the same.
I have yet to do a Falcon puzzle. I really enjoy doing the voiceovers and am glad so many enjoy listening to them. I am also still undecided about the feel of the pieces.
I’ve never done one of these, looks fun!
Loved the image 💜🧩
What a pretty puzzle! I totally believe animals dream. I have watched one of my cats act out chasing something and another talks in his sleep. I had a dog as a kid and she'd "run" and try to catch something. So, I believe they do dream! Hope that your Canada competition is going/did go well!
My dogs definitely dream!! Canada was great - on way home now and will have recap videos soon. 💜🧩
@@fortheloveofpuzzles Looking forward to it!
I’ve done only one-“East of the Sun and West of the Moon”. The image was just beautiful (which is what drew me in, in the first place.) I absolutely loved it, both image and quality. I plan to search their catalog for others.
Great - I would definitely do more of their puzzles as I love the artwork. Still undecided on the texture of the pieces especially if I did a 1k piece. 💜🧩
This texture on books (which is increasingly common) is a disaster in libraries - as a library worker, I have found that the texture gets gummy when we try to clean it. That shouldn't be a problem though in a privately owned puzzle that is handled relatively rarely. For a pricier puzzle, I'm also a little disappointed that they didn't eradicate the disposable plastic bag. But the art work is fascinating! Looking forward to hearing about the Canadian National comp!
Interesting - I wonder why they use it on books?? Does it make the cover last longer and not suffer as much wear and tear? I can see how it would be difficult to clean and get gummy. 💜🧩
I jumped down that rabbit hole...google seems to be saying that it adds depth to the colours/image of the cover and adds a layer of protection. Maybe this is true for puzzles too? In libraries, we traditionally use rubbing alchohol to clean book covers, so I don't imagine we're doing the protective quality any favours, lol.
I love Art & Fable puzzle! The velvety texture is what I love the most after the unique illustration. Love, love, love this brand!
I’m glad to know some people love the feel of the pieces. They do seem to have a lot of fun images. 💜🧩
I love Art and Fable puzzles. I end up petting the pieces and enjoying the images. My favorite is the Tailor
Oh yes The Tailor looks like a lovely image to puzzle!! 💜🧩
I have done one Art & Fable called Along the River by Mandy Budan, a lovely image. It is difficult to describe what it feels like. Looking forward to hearing how you got on in Canada. I'm sure you enjoyed yourself and came back with lots of puzzles. Hopefully we shall be hearing about BOTYP 4 which I think is next month? 🦻
Canada was great but I am so tired! I will hopefully get my recap videos up soon. Hoping BOTYP IV stays on track for next month! Details to come then 💜🧩
I have never seen Art & Fable puzzles before, but I love the artwork.. I will have to keep an eye out for them..
They have lovely images 💜🧩
I love Art and Fable. I like the feel and the artwork is always lovely. They are hard to get in the U.K. too.
I was so pleased to see that Puzzlesnz carry them. I haven’t seen them for sale anywhere else. 💜🧩
Very nice puzzle. The subject of dreams is an interesting topic in psychology. I learned dreams happens during the time you are about to wake up. I enjoyed the voiceover. Trefl puzzles just released a new puzzle line called velvet, I own 2 of those puzzles, I wonder how they compare to "Art and Fable" puzzles
Was there a special touch or feel to the Trefl pieces?? What did you think of it? 💜🧩
Trefl velvet is plushy and fuzzy to the touch. Almost downy. It feels different but nice😊
It will be interesting to see how the texture holds up after doing the puzzle a few times over - will it start to come off or deteriorate or become dirty from holding onto normal skin oils? Beautiful image.
Yes, that is the question - I have a feeling little dust particles would stick to the pieces and maybe wear off the coating. Only time and use can tell 💜🧩
Oh wow this is a great looking puzzle. I wonder what the waxy feel is all about.
Maybe to be different?? They call it velvety but I really wouldn’t call it that - it’s waxy to me. 💜🧩
I haven't done any of these yet as I've never come across one. I will certainly try them though as they look fun to do x
I loved this image so much! It was so fun to build. 💜🧩
I haven't tried Art & Fable yet, but I have some books that have a texture like what you're describing. I don't love it because it does make dusting more difficult. I'd still try an Art & Fable puzzle because the images are pretty cool 🧩💚
I do think dust and other small particles would stick to the pieces. It’s definitely not a texture I’ve felt on a puzzle before. 💜🧩
This video came at the perfect time for me, I just bought my first art and fable puzzle today. Excited to watch this review :)
Let me know what you think of the texture on the pieces. 💜🧩
Personally I think it's very obvious that some animals dream :) you can tell when your dog is having a dream because they sometimes move their paws like digging or running, or they bark or whine, or even lick their lips like they are eating in their dream. I know that we have been able to communicate very well with gorillas through sign language. I wonder if a gorilla who learned sign language could explain their dreams (I'm sure they have them too!)
That would be amazing if I Gorilla could share their dreams. I do wonder if dreaming is an mammal thing or if like fish dream as well?? 💜🧩
I wonder if dreaming is more of a mammal thing...? Or do like fish dream as well?? 💜🧩
I love Art &Fable puzzles, they are my favorite puzzle company. I have collected many, many over the last few years. My two favorites puzzles are, The Love Declaration by Carl Strathmann (500) and Her Universe by Maria Pace-Wynters.
How do the pieces hold up over time? Does the texture wear off or does dust and dirt stick to the pieces? 💜🧩
Never tried this brand. But shall try to have my eye on it. :)
Let's say it's Gilly for the friends so it's easy to remember x'D
Gilly - much better and simpler name 😁💜🧩
Your video is the first time I've heard anyone describe the feel of Art and Fable as waxy. My first reaction to that was simply "icky".
I probably over reacted though.
They have such beautiful images.
I just can’t think of another word to describe it - but to me it does feel like a wax coating on the pieces. Love the image so much 💜🧩
Funny enough I have literally just opened my first Art & Fable, today, a 1000 piece puzzle called The legend of the jaguar shaman by Nathan Miller. Just done the sorting and the edge. I have had some false fits on the edge as it is very dark but I am loving the feel of the pieces so far. Another great video, Thank you Donnalouise x
My partner is not a puzzler, but when I finished this one he loved it so much he framed it and hung it in the dining room!
Glad you enjoy the texture on the pieces. I would suggest not doing the border first if really dark and tricky to do. I’ll have to look up the image. Hope you enjoy the puzzle 💜🧩
I haven't got my hands on one of these yet but would love to try some time
I loved the artwork and would be curious to know what you thought of the pieces and their texture. 💜🧩
I love A&F artwork, but what turned me off TOTALLY is that due to the waxy feel, I can't slide them AT ALL into place, and that you can't even rummage in the box because the pieces don't slide. You can actually build a mountain in the box without having a landslide!
I also agree that your hands get a dirty feeling. So what was that European piece shape, I didn't see it...?
I do love the box holder, and I plan to make another when my first and only one is too wore out. I am so glad Vicky brought it to worlds, as it is quite portable, plus when you are not speed puzzling, you can change the position of the box top every which way..
That's my honest opinion-
I’m also unsure about the waxy feel. I never thought about the ease or difficulty of sliding pieces around but that makes sense. 💜🧩
Huzzah! I remember a while ago you had replied in a comment that Art & Fable wasn't a brand readily available in New Zealand, so I'm thrilled one has found its way to you! Their puzzles are indeed unique; but I also love that a charitable donation is made with each sale. I have done several of their puzzles but not this one yet; someday though! This is my favorite kind of image.
If you are able to get a copy, might I recommend Day in the Garden, by Betsy Silverman. Her artwork is entirely collage. From a distance it looks like a painting, but closer up there is so much print detail... which for me increases the enjoyment of an image, when there is more to discover when you spend time close-up with the art. This particular image has sentimental appeal, as I went to college in Boston, so a day at the Boston Public Garden was a lovely trip down memory lane!
How lovely!! I am hoping to do more of their puzzles - might be limited on choice but will keep your suggestion in mind 💜🧩
I love some of Art & Fable's art, but unfortunately I'm one who doesn't love the feel of their pieces. They feel a little like nails on a chalkboard to me, so not my favourite.
I have a feeling that the texture is not preferred by everyone. Alison didn’t like the one she did. I still don’t know if I like it or not. 💜🧩
