You obviously ignored his Milan, Ohio birthplace, and his short-term in place in Louisville, Kentucky. Me education us obviously lacking as I was taught his birthplace village is pronounced mylen, not like in Italy, and Black mahryuh?
I live in NJ, not too far from the area Mr. Edison lived & worked. I need to make a visit! My late Dad worked in one of the factories in W. Orange, NJ as a young man in the “time department”. He kept track of the hours worked by each worker, some years after Mr. Edison’s death. Thanks, Ken! You always give us such interesting “tours”!
Outstanding, Edison's backstory and his house. One of Edison's contributions to the electric light bulb was coming up with a screw end base on the bulb to make it easy to change out, that's why even today they're called a Edison base -- the most common used in homes today is a Edison medium base. Great watch...........
Love the reception room the conservatory, and the drawing room with its ornate furnishings. The spectacular grand staircase beats any modern ones that I have seen. A very large house, yet the rooms appear warm and cozy. I often have to pause the video to take in all the details. Thomas Edison was quite a man! Thank you, Ken.
If anyone is interested in touring the New Jersey estate it is owned by a private fund but managed by the National Park Service, the Glenmont house is available on select days to tour but i found the most intriguing the laboratories wherein there is shown an introductory film.
Beautiful house. I live near Seminole Lodge and the Mangoes which was Henry Ford's winter home. They are great museums now. Mina's name is pronounced My-na.
I am related to Thomas through his grandfather (his grandfather, Samuel, is my fifth great grandfather!) I live 30 minutes away from Milan (which is pronounced My-lynn, Ken, not to be rude!) I love learning about Thomas always!
Good historic story making the homes more real, Ken. Now, in all fairness, Edison was credited with inventing products when he actually improved already invented products and made them marketable. Have you ever visited the Livermore (California USA) firehouse with its lightbulb that has been operating since 1901? It was worth the $5.
I was thinking of this bulb but I couldn't remember where I had seen it and before I had a chance to Google I read your comment! I had been there, I suppose when I lived in San Francisco. It was said that if the bulb was ever turned off the filament would probably burn out and it would never lite again😮
And I the opposite. I have never spent time in Florida but did swing by the Claremont Estate and even though the house is fascinating, (actually looks like the family house of my grandparents), I found the laboratories the most interesting.
I have been to his place in Florida. When I was there they had a lightbulb that had been burning nonstop for at least a hundred years. Not sure if its still burning now?
Unfortunately his dislike of Nikola Tesla prevented from seeing AC power as better suited for use and so he continued to use DC. Sometimes great men can be stubborn Cusses.
He owes his success to stealing from Nicola Tesla. He became rich and famous on the back of a brilliant man who died penniless. I am not impressed with stolen wealth.
And Edison stole the filament idea for lightbulbs from a black scientist. Dude was a modern day Elon musk, no talent just buying & stealing actual scientists’ inventions
No its accurate history. Edison lured Tesla in with promised big money an then shamelessly rinigged. Edison was insistent that the eletric grid would be dc, not ac. When Westinghouse took Tesla under his wing he allowed Tesla to complete his creation of generators, and transformers, AND allowed Tesla as well as many other workers to receive both the recognition and the patents. That's why Westinghouse originally lit up the world's fair NOT Edsion.
While he earned it, it proves " it isn't one would"!!! If your not born rich or and inventor or shaker, most likely you will never be well to do let alone rich!!!😮😊
Thomas Edison Fave is so much !! Both of his homes are gorgeous and it is nice to see them preserved as he was a much respected important Inventor ! Wonderfully done Ken !! This was wonderful and Informative 👍🏻👍🏻😊😊🙌🏻🙌🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻❤️❤️
Ok, you need to redo this video, Edison DIDN'T invent the incandecent light bulb, Joseph Swan did, they formed a company called Ediswan instead of fighting over it,, do some research.
I did no such thing. 4:07 I explicitly mention that he did not invent the lightbulb nor do I go on to claim that he was the inventor of the incandescent lightbulb. I explain his patent and the demonstration of his patented incandescent lightbulb.
So glad both homes are still standing!

Entrepreneur Extraordinaire ❤
Thanks again Ken!!!! ❤🎉😊
Innovative Approach ❤
A must see when in NJ.

Thank you, Ken.
WONERFULLNESS ❗
Thank you very much❗
I'm so glad there are people out there like Edison! I don't live that far from Milan, Ohio. Thanks Ken!
Great few presentations on Edison offer a look at his everyday life. Thank You
Love this video! Such great detail to his history as well as the beautiful mansion! Thanks so much for posting ❤️

Nicely done! I appreciate all of the research and work that you put into this video. Thank you.

WOW 💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡 brilliant man and outstanding homes❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Holistic Approach ❤
It's nice to know the houses are still standing. The original Menlo Park is in Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan.
The conservatory was A-mazing‼️This era of of Victorian houses is my favorite❗️
Some wonderful history, thank you. 😊 What a beautiful home, love the conservatory.

I have toured the Edison and Ford cottages in Ft. Myers, but not the NJ house. Excellent video.
And I the opposite. I have never spent time in Florida but did swing by the Claremont Estate and even though the house is fascinating, (actually looks like the family house of my grandparents), I found the laboratories the most interesting.
Great video, Ken, thank you!!!!
For some reason, the stair halls seem to draw my attention for some reason!
That conservatory was beautiful! Ken great job with is account of Edison. I learned a lot! ❤
I worked for a lady who took piano lessons there. He was deaf she said
Amazing ! Thank you!
Now, our public schools would have Rx medicated him to allow him to "focus"
Yes. “He’s a defective girl. Cut his mind to the nub with medication.”
I’ve been to all the places mentioned here. Glenmont is in Llewelyn Park, probably the first gated community.
I could live at Glenmont!
Llewellyn Park is absolutely beautiful planned community in New Jersey
Nowadays when the kid is hyper active we give them Pills. Incredible 🤣
I had no ideal he was such a great person and inveneted so much!! 😮😮 Wonder why it wasnt taught in school?

Conspiracy theories are wonderful, aren't they?
Agree!

Edison was not a nice guy nor very honest and basically we use Tesla's ideas on electricity service not Edison
While he earned it, it proves " it isn't one would"!!! If your not born rich or and inventor or shaker, most likely you will never be well to do let alone rich!!!😮😊
The house is impressive in size and style, but that orange/red exterior is just too harsh for the eyes!👀 😂😂😂
he certainly made an art form of stealing other peoples ideas.
Edison didn’t illuminate America. Tesla did.
He didn't. Nikola Tesla did.
Edison reputedly never bathed.
Change the paint color on that behemoth. Yikes!
Ok, you need to redo this video, Edison DIDN'T invent the incandecent light bulb, Joseph Swan did, they formed a company called Ediswan instead of fighting over it,, do some research.
I never made the claim that Edison invented the light bulb. If you were paying attention, you wouldn't have commented this. Cheers
@@ThisHouse you insinuated it.
