Economy has a lot to do with it. I'm an ex New Yorker living in Dallas. To give you an example, I went to see Mets play at Global Life Field back in June. Seats on 3rd base line 25 rows back & spent $40.00 & parking 20.00. New York back in Spring $130.00 & parking 40.00. Food more expensive in NY. That's why so many New Yorkers moving to other states. You would never see so many New Yorkers at visiting ball parks 10-20 years ago. All relocating to affordable states.
💯 feel you. I’m in Texas too. Went to see Yankees rangers and its was not cheap. Edited to add, I also have to drive 2 and a half hours to the park with 3 kids. At the very minimum 1 kid because she isn’t old enough to be home alone. The others are and could watch her. But still me and the wife driving that long. Sitting in the sun in Texas that’s 95 plus with hot a$$ humidity making it worse. It’s just not a fun time to ALWAYS go to the park. When I got A/C and shade in my house 😂
In Texas as well😂
Moved to Florida because New York was to much
I think the attendance drought has less to do with the team and more to do with the current economics times
Right!
No dodgers Yankee padres sell out the crowds at citi are dead sad to say I love the mets
BIDENOMICS is working! Or that's what VP CACKLES claims.
It is definitely about the money! $375+ for our family of 3 (3x70 tickets, 40 parking, 85 food/drinks, 40 hat/t-shirt for son) for a September weeknight game where we have to rush from school/work and fight traffic is not worth it. A weekend game yes but not Tuesday night. LOWER the weeknight ticket prices drastically, especially the Tuesday games and people will come. Next year, we're going to travel to an away game in a cheaper market - almost the same price as a weekend game at Citi Field. Yankees fans seem younger and a lot of them live in the city, Westchester or uptown so the commute to/from the stadium is more convenient...while I see more families at Mets games recently and the weekday logistics of leaving work in city, getting your kids where they go to school in Brooklyn or SI or LI and getting to field is tough.
The drive in and out from NJ is brutal.
Many times, the $40.00 parking swayed my decision whether or not to go to the game.
It’s gotten to the point where I only go to major league sports events if they’re free or wildly discounted. The costs are too high for anyone middle-class or below. Besides, the TV coverage is so good, why would I want to deal with people? That’s just me.
Howie Rose. Without a doubt is one of the best to bring us the picture of a baseball game while we are in the car.
Without a doubt!! ❤ Howie
I was 12 and 88 killed me! It was soul crushing. 2006 was horrible. But 88 was just 2 years after the championship. Just couldn’t believe it.
Yes sir. I hate the dodgers almost as much by as the Braves. Seeing oral herschizer destroy us made my 9 year old self cry for the first time over sports. And then seeing Daryl in LA in 91’ broke my brain.
Would buy a multi game package every year, I got priced out of the 5 boroughs and moved to jersey. Now it’s too hard to get there.
I love how silly the Mets are because baseball should be fun.
No "easy" games anymore. Now or never to decide if we are or not in the playoffs. Three terrific teams to face
I use to deliver bottled water in Corona, Jackson Heights. There was an awesome Deli by old Shea stadium
oh, and just so people know, the parks department owns and charges the fees for parking I don't think the Mets control that. correct me if I'm wrong
I'll look into that but I think they were trying to privatize it. I think Neil DeMausse has discussed their intent to own the lot.
Fellas.... get real.....40 dollars for parking is obscene..... especially with the inflationary period we just went through. You already have ticket prices....food and beverage prices.... maybe a hat or a jersey in the gift shop for the kids....it gets quite expensive. It's not the wildcard issue that's keeping down attendance. It's largely the price of parking added to the rest of the price for the experience. How much are programs these days at Citi Field????
Anyone know the brand of hoodie Sal is wearing..I need one
The games are too expensive, especially it you have children.
The Attendance is down for many reasons, parking is outrageous expensive, along with the tickets prices and food, Cohen is a Billionaire doesn't need the money, instead of getting high price players, try giving back to the fans, by lowering the amount of parking, food and tickets, you will see a rise for attendance!!
it's like that across town too yet the Yankees always pack the house.
And they raise the parking fees during the post season play. And in right field Cohen made the club that cost $25,000 to get in that doesn't help the regular fan.
PREECH
@@bxrep19I think part of the reason is that there’s stuff to do around the stadium and it’s easier to get to the stadium as there are multiple trains that go there
@@jyork9093honestly that does help the regular fan generating income without costing the regular fan more is a way to mitigate the costs to attend. I don’t care at all about them having expensive boxes let them have them and hopefully they fill them. I want to see the great Mets team they can invest into it
It’s just more comfortable to watch at home.
For the cost of bringing your family to a handful of Met games you can remodel your kitchen, buy a car, go on a vacation, etc. Its insane what theyre charging. If you're gonna bring kids then its better just to go to a LI Ducks game
always found street parking in Corona across Roosevelt Ave.
My car got robbed over there, not stolen just broken into and trashed and everything worth anything stolen. They wait to see you leave with your met shirt on and know you're going to be gone for a few hours.
And hope your vehicle is still there when game over
Northern Blvd were I parked
Area around the stadium is not the best for sure
@@jyork9093 Dam man tough one
Fix the parking and traffic flow and I'll go more often. An industrial engineer with 2 months experience can double the flow. Start by getting rid of the closed exits and forced merges with cones.
The problem with the pricing problem is why are the Yanks still drawing so big. Don’t get me wrong I 100% get the economic part but Yankee fans have the same prices and same issues but they can draw it
It's becoming a rich person's sport.
The 88 team was better than the '86.
I'm not going anywhere that doesn't accept cash.....EVER

BT is rough
MLB makes a huge mistake in how they do the Wild Card. Every year, there is a distinct chance that 2 of the 3 Wild Card teams can be in the Championship Round. Every year, there is a good chance that Wild Card teams will meet in the World Series, and like last year a Wild Card team can win the World Series. They have virtually made the regular season and winning a Division , very unimportant. If they are insistent on keeping Wild Cards, they need to have 4 Wild Card teams per league, in a very quick 2 day play-in tournament. On Monday they have WC #4 play @ WC #1 and WC #3 @ WC #2. The next day the winners from Monday's games play the finals for the right to be the Wild Card team in the actual playoffs. You now have eliminated the chances of 2 WC teams facing off in the League Championship series. The Division winners are only waiting 2 days before the next round and the Wild Card representative has used its 2 best staring pitchers and bullpen just to get to the Divisional Round, so they are at a distinct disadvantage. That's how MLB should do it, but they won't because they can't think outside the box.

SOTO is not all that!!
How about we keep Acuna at SS and move Lindor to 2B? Might be the best way to go into 2025 with a valuable aging player and an inspiring young & promising rookie.
Hell nah
Acuna gotta play second Lindor is too good at SS
God, one back injury and we're shuttling him off to second?
@@thomasscherrer8393 it was an imagine if scenario. I wasn't taking it all that seriously but I had to share it anyway. LOL
I’m hoping Acuna have that type of spark like Miguel Cabrera did with the Marlins that year they won the World Series
Asking alot. Hopefully
