I switched from vs code to webstorm and don’t think I’ll ever go back to vscode. The features out of the box with webstorm are far beyond anything vscode can do without installing 100 plugins. I’ll admit vscode has better themes though 😂
welcome to the club, I only used VScode for a year or so and switched to WebStorm back in 2017 the best decision of my life. though to this day I still use VSCode color theme on WebStorm
What I want to know is battery drainage, how do the two compare. I use sublime text mostly because of its minimalism, and customisation, etc but sometimes I have to use vscode. Now that webstorm is free for non-commerical use I've been using it and it’s way better than vscode ignoring the boring themes. It allows me to use the keyboard even more. But I want to know if it's not worse than vscode when it comes to battery consumption.
Great video! I have only recently started considering alternatives to VSCode. It was the code editor I was presented to at university and I have never since thought about changing from it. The last project I did in VSCode was a bit stressful because it wasn't consistent in the imports and automatic refactoring. I started using WebStorm since last weekend and I have loved it so far
I agree, Webstorm has awesome git and search tools and refactoring definitely feels more "safe" in Webstorm. I just wish that Webstorm was even more customizable. I like to turn off a lot of things that i don't need, or UI clutter that I don't want. And yes, I've already taken it as far as it can go, but it's still not enough. Any thoughts here?
@MonsterlessonsAcademy Yeah, that's where I'm at really, no harm in asking. Also, one other benefit to using something like Webstorm; editors come and go and there's a lot to be said about having consistent tooling. In my time using Jetbrains products, I've seen others go from Textmate, to Sublime Text, to Brackets, to Atom, to Neovim, to VScode, to Cursor etc. Webstorm is over a decade old and isn't going anywhere any time soon.
I use neovim 99% of the time, but is still go back to WebStorm for any serious refactoring. VS code looks real pretty and has more plugins, but I don't use it anymore. No question though, when it comes to refactoring and search, VS code doesn't come close to WebStorm. You get what you pay for and VS Code is popular because it's free.
I agree. I prefer the speed and comfort of Neovim but Webstorm is best for big projects and refactoring. Vscode is trying to be a Webstorm bu it is far behind.
VS Code can be transformed to a full IDE by extensions and can be totally useful and handful to advanced users. It's totally customizable so I consider it way better.
Dude i still couldn't go to webstrom just because of one functionality git is way too good in vscode according to me 😂 . I am unable to go to webstrom because of that

Finally Webstorm is free now for non-commercial use
Wow this is huge!
Once Webstorm, you'll never go back!

Yeap, I agree 100%

From Now On Webstorm is also free for non-commercial 😉
Wow this is huge!
I use va code for a huge code base and it works flawlessly, but I’ll be trying out webstorm since it’s finally free
Depends on the types of files also. Great if it works for you.
Thanks a lot about your opinion. I use Web Storm , it is very nice tool for developing )
You are welcome!
Can you tell me the theme name and font name please
Gruvbox, monaco

No idea. I'm on cable 99% of the time.
Yeah completely agree. Learn to code in VS Code and when you can, invest in WebStorm.
Yeap!
I used the trial version of webstorm and I can't go back to vscode. I'll end up buying it.
Understandable
Now, it's free for non commercial use
It's free now, you saved yourself money.

Glad it was helpful!

Not really. It's not something like Vim where you can tune every single little thing. Just live with it :)

I couldn't get VS Code to configure with Xdebug on a mac, PHP Storm work straight out of the box; I was sold from there on in
Yeap
webstorm is cool but the claim that vscode doesnt index the files is not true at all
Can you please link a proof. There is zero information in google that this functionality is there.
I just need to spend some time with WebStorm. I've used VScode a lot.
Happy coding
What theme are you using?
gruvbox

Thank you for your feedback. As I mentioned in video even with plugins it still lacks a lot of features but if it works for you this is fine.
webstorm >>>> vscode
Yeap

It's up to you at the end. I'm using Git from console for anything other than merge anyway.
I switched from VSCODE to WebStorm it was too slow so I got back to VSCODE and then I thought why not neovim 2 days ago.
The problem with neovim is that it's still an editor and you sink any amount of time to configure it.
@@MonsterlessonsAcademyI know but I think once you get it it's quite nice.
