Un lavoro a dir poco insolito !!
Li crederete pazzi a prima vista, invece no, non lo sono.
Si tratta della triturazione dei residui colturali del sorgo post trebbiatura, i quali, in parte ricacciati e in parte essiccati non si prestavano ad una macinazione "tradizionale" tramite trinciastocchi in quanto creavano ingolfamenti, perdite di tempo e rotture a quest'ultimi. Si è optato quindi per l'uso delle trincia che, equipaggiate con testate da mais riuscivano a svolgere una qrande mole di lavoro con uno sforzo irrisorio.
Vi sembrerà uno spreco non raccogliere il trinciato ed usarlo come biomassa ma considerando che gli impianti biogas limitrofi non erano interessati a questo tipo di prodotto, in un terreno in cui non si ha la possibilità di apportare sostanza organica (letame, digestato ecc...) lasciare i residui non fa certo male.
Ci trovavamo tra il comune di Sant'Urbano e quello di Vescovana in provincia di Padova e l'appezzamento era di 30-35 ettari dove oltre alle 2 trincia lavoravano anche un Fendt 936 con Quadrivomere Moro e un Case IH Quadtrac 450 con pentavomere Moro interrando i residuo macinati.

When you will see this video you will think that the operator are totally crazy but… are not.
This is the shredding of crop residues of the post threshing sorghum, which, in part driven back and dried part did not permit the "traditional" grinding through stalk chopper, because they created misfiring, loss of time and breaks in the latter. Therefore, the operators have opted for the use of shredders equipped with maize headers that can do a big amount of work with a paltry effort.
The choice to not collect the shredded and use it as biomas will seem you a crazy idea but considering that neighboring biogas plants were not interested in this type of product, in a land where you do not have the ability to make organic matter (manure, digestate etc. ... ) leave residues can be the right option.
We were between the municipality of Sant'Urbano and Vescovana, in the province of Padova and the plot of 30-35 hectares was besides the two choppers also worked a Fendt 936 with 4 furrow Moro and a Case IH Quadtrac 450 with 5 furrow Moro burying the ground residue.

I've herd that corn increases the yeld of other crops that are grown in the ground after corn, so is it that here? Or is it just a left over field from silage making?

Agriharvest non credo sia stato per la distanza visto che c'è una biogas a Lendinara.. penso ci sia stato più un conflitto di interessi...
è stato chiesto, ma evidentemente non erano interessati a ricevere tale prodotto.

Probabilmente (e ripetiamo probabilmente, pichè è solo un nostro parere) non c'erano stalle o biogas interessati al prodotto essendo quest'ultimo con una componente cellulosica elevata (visto che i fusti erano molto lignificati) e hanno preferito usare "gli scarti di lavorazione" come concimazione colturale

la "produzione" si stimava sui 100qli ettaro circa...quindi si, un bel mucchietto ma nulla a che vedere con produzioni di colture da insilato.

I can understand that this is chopping the residue and nobody had a use for it, but surely a front mounted flail mower would have done a better job a distributing the residue more evenly. Unless there was a need to get it done quickly.

As short as that growth is you could just plow it under and not waste the fuel and the cost of both of those machines. Before you tell me I don't understand what you're doing.... I do. There's a lot more cost effective ways of going about it.

tutto quel trinciato lasciato in quel modo a se stante senza integrare letame maturo o qualsiasi altro prodotto organico che funga da substrato fertile per lo sviluppo della flora microbica utile a digerire proprio quella quantità di massa organica dal rapporto C/N abbastanza alto, non fa altro che impoverire il suo di azoto creando quella che in gergo si chiama fame d'azoto nelle colture in produzione che verranno piantate.

Ma figurati Davide! Sulla descrizione trovi tutto :) Comunque, in sintesi, dopo la trebbiatura di sorgo i residui colturali sono restati sul terreno per un periodo tale da consentirne una lignificazione più spinta e un ricaccio di alcune piante. Tutto questo unito all'accreciuta umidità stagionale ha fatto sì che i trinciastocchi risultassero inutilizzabili, quindi per sminuzzare i residui prima dell'aratura hanno utilizzato le trince... per la serie a mali estremi, estremi rimedi! :)

It is really funny to read some (or many) of the posts here....
If this video would show two dark green combines on a north american wheat field with running straw cutters throwing the residue - the straw - back on the ground, followed by one or two big tractors plowing behind them and burying the residue - in this case straw - nobody would dare to comment "Why do you do this?"
We did this the same way 40 years ago.
Ok - we didnt do this with sorghum - becaus we didnt simply grow this.
We also didnt use such big choppers. Simple cause - we didnt have any.
We used some special sort of shamrock and / or rape as green manure and used a little machine not unlike a big lawn mower and ran the tractor for hours or days to cut the green material down.......
You see: Nothing special, dumb, new here.

Well as you can see at the end, the crop has been hammered to the ground. So it's not really a waste of the good crop since the crop isn't good. So they use it to fertilize the ground instead.
