    I live in Logan, WV and I’m a little bit of a local history buff, not to mention I love trains, and the C&O railroad display looked so authentic. Especially the coal mine scene was right on the money. Right down to the mountain side and trees. Colors and texture of everything was exactly what it looked like around here. I especially liked how he captured the sunlight just hitting the top of the tree tops cause the bottom of the holler was the very last to get any sunlight, if any at all. The coal houses and structures were excellent and placed right where you would see them. Houses right up to the coal mine. Phenomenal work. Congratulations

    This video and interview is wonderful. My Grandfather worked on the Nickel Plate for 40 years. His home was in Cayuga. This has given me a chance to see what it was like for him on the train.

    I bow to the master, Ted Pamperin. As a C&O guy I strive to achieve his level of realism he has achieved. Love the layout and hope to see it in person one day.

    I met Tony Koester at Allen McClellan's V&O "farewell to steam" operating session.
    This would have been in 1980 or 1981. This was a long time ago.
    Tony at the time operated his Allegheny Midland RR.
    I spent many hours in the basement running trains(and otherwise goofing off too) on the V&O. it was a great time.

    Having seen both of these layouts, and operated on Ted Pamperin’s C&O layout, I can say they are both world class railroads.

    Hi James, Thank you for the information on this new company. I'm glad to see someone has picked up the baton now that Allen Keller has retired. What truly has blown my mind is this company is local to me. I hope they continue adding layout tours to their video collection. Cheers, Rich S.

    Thanks for sharing the preview of this video. The videography is nice, but I'm not sure I like the dubbed sound effects. Tony's an amazing modeler with a wealth of knowledge. I always enjoy reading his monthly "Trains of Thought" column in MR. His layout is absolutely stunning! It should serve as motivation for all of us modelers.

    Two of the most realistic layouts I'll EVER see! Both men clearly geniuses of engineering and artistic ability; I would assume both are world class modelers. I'm starting my very 1st layout as soon as covid19 lock down ends. I have everything to learn, mistakes, re-does and successes await. Seeing what is possible via these beautiful layouts is very exciting. Really looking forward to the journey.

      Greetings, Yes, both Tony and Ted are world class modelers, and unbelievably the C&O, which is Ted Pamperin's, is his first attempt at model railroading. I told him, no need for a second attempt! Both are amazing, and the more I videoed them, as well as Howard Zane's Piermont Division, the more impressed I was at the detailing and coloring / weathering that was done. Thank you for watching. Division point did a run of C&O 25' cabooses about 15 years ago. Overland also did various runs of C&O cabooses appropriate for steam diesel transition era. I noticed an L-1 4-6-4. I am wondering if this is from BLI or Precision Scale. Many fine brass locomotives from PFM/United, Key, OMI. The C&O ran f7 units A-B-A in the fifties. Peach Creek Hobbies and OMI did a run of C&O f7 A-B-A units about 20 years ago with custom painting.

      Greetings Thomas, the NKP L-1 4-6-4 is a brass model from Nickel Plate Products, which are the only HO scale models of this locomotive ever made. They imported both versions with & without smoke deflectors, in 1977 and 1983. I do have one available for sale that has been professionally painted, upgraded with DCC & Sound, marker & cab lights, firebox flicker, and a new can motor installed, at www.nacesvideography.com under "Shop". Thank you for watching.

    • @nacesvideographyllc9075
      @nacesvideographyllc9075 4 роки тому +1

      Greetings, as Kevin & Adam stated, the audio sounds are all overlaid (dubbed), even though both Tony & Ted's locomotives all have sound installed. The reasons for this are many, but include adhering to copy-write laws, ability to control the recording environment (i.e.-no dog's barking, phones ringing, furnaces turning on, etc.), eliminating any modeler's locomotive sound issues such as worn out speakers, out of synch chuffing, and so on. However, in an agreement I made with ESU/Loksound, all of the locomotive sounds were created using their sound files, decoders, and their best available speakers, by way of a 13 decoder console I had custom built. So, your locomotives can sound this good. The only exception being the NKP 2-8-4 whistle blasts, where I used my own recordings of Fort Wayne's Berkshire no. 765.

      @drakebixby8815 4 роки тому

      @@nacesvideographyllc9075 The video was quite good, I enjoyed it. But the sound was the weakest part. It reminded me of a 1960's drum machie. I lated drums, I know what they sound like. I've also operated steam locomotives, I know what THEY sound like. In my opinion, you would have been better off recording a good DCC sound equipped unit, rather than a sound bite that repeated every 2 revolutions of the drivers. And 6 wheel passenger car trucks make 3 clacks when they go over a rail joint, not 2. I was dissapointed with the sound.
