  • The JS440 is back on the channel! The ski has been sitting since the starter install video and now that the weather is nice it is time to ride. The ski started quickly after sitting for so long. It is always fun riding the ski and I will try and get more riding videos out over the summer.

    3:25 stopped pressing throttle, used only choke=instant start.
    Lesson learned ;)

    Gotta get that fuel/water separator back in service. There’s a reason that was there from the factory.

    Great vid… is that paint original? I have a three 80’s vintage ski’s and 440 is still one of my favorites. Super reliable.

      It is, you may have noticed though the pole changes when I am riding the ski. I filmed the video and then a friend snapped the pole in half and I had to refilm the riding section after this happened. The 440's are dead reliable though, wish my 650 was.

    Sounds like way too much impeller or something

    • @rotariesjetskis6967

      What do you mean? As far as I know that ski still has the original impeller.

      @@rotariesjetskis6967 as in too much pitch or too much clearance between wear ring and impeller. Or a combination of both. I know 550 mixed flow pumps like a 15.5 scat or a 13 18 solas. I have heard axle flow pumps like the 440 pumps like a little more impeller like a 16 or so. I like a hooked up clean revving setup. Yours seems to really labor until you unload the pump then revs go way up. I bet you are only running 5000 rpms loaded instead of the 6500 it should do pretty easy.

    • @rotariesjetskis6967
      @rotariesjetskis6967  Рік тому

      It is likely the clearance, since I do think the impeller has been changed. Thanks for the advice.

      @@rotariesjetskis6967 If the clearance was to tight you'd hear it when the pump is dry running on the ski stand. I agree that it's likely to high of an impeller pitch or the less likely, but still could be part of the issue and that'd be if it's running to rich. Generally if it's to rich it will bog hard once the pump loads back up with water after unloading the pump through chop or a jump.

      It sounds like a stock 1980 js 440. The overrev your hearing is dude jumping out of the water. Looks pretty well taken care of for its age actually
