I would bet, given his inclination to skip side content, he's gonna get at least half the squad killed in the last mission. It's gonna be hilarious
Garrus reveal did not disappoint at all.
Josh is going to get so much of his crew killed I just know it.
Would be hilarious if he gets them all killed.
Jacob and Miranda are dead for sure.
PepeLaugh ME3
@@TheLucidChiba Really, nothing of value would be lost. That said, The Citadel DLC is what everything in ME1 2 and 3 culminate with, and is my favorite part of the trilogy, and not losing anyone really makes that content truly unforgettable.
*Picks Vanguard; doesn't use shotgun or Charge a single time*
The most whelming choice
To be fair, vanguard in ME2 has like paper thin shields on veteran and discourages people from playing how the class should be played. If josh realizes what gets added to charge when upgraded, he should understand how to play the class.
really shows how skewed perspectives can be, i always look at vanguard as a pretty free win on any difficulty so its interesting watching him struggle since hes not utilizing any of it
@@bloomleaf8310 Josh really proves my hypothesis that streamers *cannot* read. Or rather, cannot extrapolate useful information.
The pistol is the best weapon anyways.
I used to replay the prison mission hundreds of times when I was younger because this mission was featured on the Mass Effect 2 Demo for Xbox360. Huge bit of nostalgia there
Best content to not watch while I’m doing something else
I can't believe you almost let Garrus die by ignoring him.
Josh, here's the thing. You want to play the game the way you want, fine. That's great, we all encourage you to find your play-style. That said, we, your community, as well as the now-overlapping Mass Effect community, love this game, we love the story, and we love the characters, and we fell in love with all of that because of how much we interacted with and engaged with the story, and the characters that *tell* it.
If you want to skip character arcs, loyalty missions, dialogue, that's fine, you can play however you want, I didn't pay for your copy of the game, you did. Mass Effect is very well written and action packed even while missing all that content, but in doing so, you're going to miss so many character moments and subplots and that "je ne sais quoi" that we, your audience, fell in love with, and would frankly love to see you fall in love with too, because we like who you are, and we like when we can relate to you. It's what drew us to you in the first place.
damn, spoke the absolute truth there!
If that's the level of engagement you are looking for in a Mass Effect playthrough, definitely don't watch a streamer play it. There are countless youtube exclusive LPs where the content creator is fully invested in the story and characters.
@@plants.plants Sad part is, you're not wrong.
Maybe i can tell why they made the change for ammo system
1 the special weapons use limited ammo.
2 if you can run out it matters using the best gun and powerups where theyre most effective.
idk if josh or chat is ever gonna notice it, but t.horny shepard's new face is bugged, the eyes are like doubled on top of each other so when she blinks theres a layer of eyeball that's just outside the eyelids when that happens. i think it was the most noticable during the cutscene when shepard was waking up after the lazarus project.
it was noticed inmediately
@@Miyulta well then i missed it, lol, sorry
Yeah that tends to happen when you don't take character creator seriously and just drag sliders all over the place
She's keeping an eye on things and not missing a blink.
@@bluemoon1716 As far as I remember, the character never blinks in the creator, so its not something you can check before going in.
I know he's not, but my head-canon is that Zaeed is like 43 years old and just has aged like milk.
2 packs of cigarettes a day and frequent visits to the sunbed. He's actually only 28 years old.
"Murder Grandpa" never heard that one I like it.
I’m commander shepard and this is my favourite streamer on twitch
LoL. Back when this was released I had pretty much the same reaction to meeting the Council again, whom I also saved.
Can't even wait for ME3's Jack mission. If this one was a tough time for Josh, I can already feel the frustration on that one.
Absolutely agree with your irritation at the railroading of working with Cerberus in this game. Love the game as a whole, but being forced to work with Cerberus because of a need for vague "resources" always felt completely artificial.
It's especially frustrating when you're coming off the back of a complete ME1 playthrough and your Shepard knows exactly how messed up Cerberus is (Sole Survivor Sheps, particularly). Even if the plot didn't change, it'd be nice to have the option to be more openly hostile towards them and the Illusive Man.
@@maceofbass9295 Absolutely, I also went into ME2 off the back of a Sole Survivor Shepard. I get that it was necessary for the story they wanted to tell, but they could have found a better reason for Shepard to not immediately give Cerberus the finger.
The council tells you straight up that they won't support you in any way. And the alliance is following the council's lead with regards to the reapers and collectors. Not alot of other options.
@@bluemoon1716 The Council won't support you because you're working with Cerberus, not the other way around.
@@adamzielinski5213 even if shepard quit cerberus the council still wouldn't help because the collectors are attacking in the terminus system. Same with the alliance
1:11:47 You can see the light fading from Josh's eyes.
10 seconds in and I'm already whelmed. Well done Sir.
You might need to micromanage your team mates to prevent them from attempting sulclde that often.
My rocking chair for my JSH plushie arrived, i underestimated the snark level inceease, should be at least +10
The lack of using mechanics in combat is killing me
You get on my telly too, from time to time
Anyone else feel like every character, including Shepard, is gonna die in this playthrough
It's like watching a slow motion car crash. It's horrific but I just can't stop watching!
Just a bit disappointed that in this way of playing the game means his Commander Shepard doesn't have any character growth whatsoever. She started as a ruthless colonist who gets the job done whatever it takes, and ends as a ruthless colonist who gets the job done whatever it takes.
The end? This is only like 10% through ME 2
@@loneskankster2242 the way he's playing, there'll be no character growth. The rationality behind every single decision he makes is exactly the same.
@@matheusmterra That's perfectly fine and valid way to play
@@FEVB I'm not saying it's not valid, I'm just saying there was no character growth playing it like that. Not every character needs an arc.
ME2, is pretty much just the filler episode of the trilogy in terms of story.. but if filler is this good, I'm damned okay with filler !
I'll say though that the switch to working for Cerberus is quite blunt narrative wise. Anyone playing paragon Shepard probably wouldn't help them.. though you can argue that what really convinces Shepard is Joker.
Josh you're also on my telly, there may be a steam deck in my hands but thee made it to the big-ish screen kid
i started replaying the games on insanity a few days before you posted your first time on me1 and we made very similar characters lol, glad to see one of my favorite brits playing this cause i like to watch as i play, if you ever decide to replay the games after you finish andromeda i do recommend trying insanity, i can give you tips too, its pretty fun and feels worth it in the end, i finished my me1 insanity a day before your finale and waited for your first on 2 to start mine, 2 feels great on insanity and honestly feels perfect on the harder end
soz for the long comment, good luck, and remember, never surrender to the reapers
Loved the Archangel reveal, and he wasn't even my favorite!
As a GM I don't understand why Josh feels the need to just skip so much dialogue...
I just wanna know the suprie of finding out who Arxhangel is.
And also the Scientist Salarian
jfc the amount of backseating is off the charts
1:02:58 Doesn't everyone find out what the Keepers are for in the first game? Why is Mordin saying their purpose is unknown?
garrus reveal its soo wholesome
Everything Bioware released after 2007 just felt so rushed. Honestly, Mass Effect 1 might be the only game they ever made that didn't feel rushed lolol
Josh realizing the massive plot nonsense re: sovereign and the reapers and having a fit about it is just all of us when we played ME2 for the first time and realized the writer just hated the first game.
It's the same writer though.
@@Phaden27 My memory for reporting at the time (which could be faulty) was that Mac Walters was less significantly involved in the writing and world building of ME1 and basically became the lead for ME2 and ME3 as the original lead writer, Drew Karpyshyn’, left the project sometime during the production of the game. (Looked this up, he went from ME2 to SW:TOR.)
You are right that Karpyshyn is credited as a co-lead writer for 2, though the feeling at the time from online discussions was that 2 was more Walters game.
Again, could totally be wrong here, but my feel was that explained a lot of the retcons and just huge tonal swings between ME1 and ME2.
i stopped watching morrowind from you, gonna buy it... the nostalgia is killing me...
Careful! It honestly made me really depressed for the way life used to be fun and exciting when it came out.
@@CatalystOfFire already played it. maingquest was awsome. its so alien. skyrim is just boring, vikings and dragons are so common^^
@@naseweis6105 absolutely! I think when you combine how weird the world is with how weird the graphics are you just get a very unique game that feels refreshing.
@@CatalystOfFire the only thing i totally remembered wrong are the non mainquests. everyone just a fetchquest. house telvanni was cool just because of the mushroom towers and crazy old mages.
@@naseweis6105 It was interesting for me because there aren't any quest markers, so it forces us to actually look around and learn things. It was annoying at first but kind of made it interesting never quite knowing if I was in the right place.
I'm honestly enjoying this just-the-plot, TCB playthrough... admittedly, that it grinds the gears of the fans so much just makes it even sweeter to me. But, I also hope to see -- in a few years maybe -- a return to this for a more leisurely, RPish playthrough where the side content and character elements get some love.
Agreed, the first game is more of a RPG and better for it. Too much handholding in the 2nd one, too much of a game which shrinks the world for me.
AND there's friend groups who are sincere in serious situations and say what they mean without mocking... Please don't discount those people.
It makes anyone sincere sound like they're lying.
It's why this country is where it is today with politics and social norms.
Nobody is nice to anyone anymore. And everyone makes decisions that hurts others because "lols" 😞
I'd rather have a friend, and BE a friend, who doesn't mock me and is nice and means it.
It SHOULDN'T be in rare supply.
Of course I only can talk from my experience, but to me seems it isn't a rare thing. Rather normal. Being mean for the lolz in serious and sensitive situations seems to me rather the exception. At least outside of the internet
Man, chat are being such bullies.
Hell is other people
This comment section is whiny babies
How can you trust the opinion of a game critic when it is obvious the guy has no clue about how the game mechanics work in either ME1 or ME2. Misses half the content in the first game. In fact, his being stubben about sticking to playing in one way only causes him to miss subtleties and important character arcs integral to the series as a whole. I now doubt the veracity of his judgements about the games in his worst MMO series. I have seen others do playthroughs playing for the first time. And all of them, even obvious not the best at gaming, have done a much better job of discovering the game. This has nothing to do with "not playing how I would play" an argument he likes to use as a shield to cover deficiencies in skill or ability. Sure he is an amusing fellow and obviously not an Idiot Yet.....he will miss so so much.
I feel like he treats gaming on stream and gaming for a video very differently. The objectives between streaming Mass Effect and making a video on the Worst MMOs are not the same, so I'd assume he doesn't approach them the same way.
Okay. You go up there and stream to thousands of people who all expect you to be funny, entertaining, reading chat, while also trying to play the game. Let me know how it goes.
I'm not disagreeing with you, necessarily, but there's better ways to phrase what you want to phrase, and you need to take into consideration "Playing a game for your own personal enjoyment" and "Playing a game for the personal enjoyment of others, while hoping you can enjoy it as well"
@@downeastbeast6448many people have done😂 he barely bothers to investigate, so far in the first game and the little he’s played of this game, I’m certain he’s missed atleast 90% of dialogue and content
This isn't a review of an MMO where he's doing an in-depth analysis. It's just that simple. The approach is totally different. This is live entertainment - not an essay written over weeks that can be edited at any time, with the obligation that all content must be experienced.
That, and these games are never beginner-friendly. You already know everything about the game, it's not a fair judgement at all. And, so has everyone else watching this - they don't need a critic to tell them how to feel about a game that's, what, fifteen years old now?
Mass effect is a really boring game though. Flat ugly corridor shooter with chest high walls. It's just "Gears of war- boring edition" with a bunch of melodramatic bullshit between "game"play. Andromeda is the only one tahst actually fun to play because at least that adds some verticality
