  • This video is milling the first 5 feet of the Walnut Tree by the power lines that I talked about. Excellent crotch figure and stump figure on the Norwood HD 38.
Also a quick reminder on medicinal value on the walnut. Boards cut at 10/4".
I discussed why our log lifters seem to be on the wrong side of the sawmill and insight on how to fix that for those who want to buy this machine.

Hey this is Tom in Northwest Arkansas. Beautiful slabs and great content. Keep it up.

Nice job clamping down the log. Sometimes it seems to take as much time to load & secure an oddball log as it does to mill it! Would love to have seen how you got the log up there. If you switch sides of the clamp and log stops, the sliding blade guide can only be all the way back, and you will have a lot of blade exposed on the exit side of the blade on smaller logs. You'll also be dealing with more sawdust in the air, since the chute won't be as effective. In some conditions, you might experience some blade flutter, and that safety bar will not protect you from the exposed blade outside the wood. In hind sight, I'd set up the mill exactly the way you have it, but with an extra crossbunk between the first and second ones and put the front toe roller on it. Nice feathered grain. Also, nice to see progress on the kiln in the background.

Hey Dave, thanks! I like the extra log bunk idea, we have been thinking about getting an extra one for these type logs. Definitely securing them would be less challenging.

Hey buddy how are ya? Wow what a beautiful walnut log!!! Someone could make gorgeous furniture or coffee tables out of those slabs. I have the hd36v2 with one extension on the trailer.
As you spoke of the holes being on non operator side on your mill, on my mill the holes are on the operator side but the extension bunks are on the non-op side. The rep said they where miss drilled so when I get the hydraulic set up the will give my 2 correct bunks. Maybe I’ll first check it out or just install them as extra bunks for short cutting. Man I love my saw mill!! Now I need an excavator to lift the logs on the mill hehehe. Been using a atv log arch I built and the log loading ramps.
I’m gonna start a channel soon, what kinda cameras do ya use? What do ya edit with? Thanks for sharing, God bless you and yours.

Hey man glad to here how much you love milling. The camera I use is a Canon XA11 HD CMOS PRO. Hope that make sense to you it is a bunch of gibberish to me. Wayne got the camera, I just film with it. I use Wondershare Filmora. It is good, but I don't know how to compare it to others, for I am new at filming You Tube Videos. I am happy about how those slabs came out. Once we get the kiln up and running then we can start drying and then flattening the lumber and then be able to put them on the market. Patients... Thanks for the comments and may the Lord keep you!!!

@@OzarkSawmillServices I was hoping make a few vids with my iPhone and Mac. Just to see how things went. Like you’ve said “filming kinda distracts you for what your doing.” I have Squirrel issues without cameras hehe. I’ll have to figure this out. Hoping my youngest son can help with the filming and editing. He’s one of those kids who loves computers and stuff. I’m more about sawdust , bent nails and diesel. I want to get my sawmill business up and running first. Thank you for sharing and helping point in the right way. Looking forward to the next video. Oh loved the walnut so beautiful.
