I wish that I wasn't only 10 when this guy was in his prime. Now that I'm 18 and know much more about baseball, it's clear as day how dominant and overpowering prime MadBum was. I wasn't able to admire it when I was that young, you know?

Aleandro Mirabal That is the single dumbest comment I have ever read. By far. You're really trying to say the regular season doesn't matter? They play 162 games in the regular season. They play 20 at most in the postseason. Clayton Kershaw has pitched 1,732 innings in the regular season. Madison Bumgarner has pitched 88.1 innings in the postseason. Yeah he was clutch last year. But better than Kershaw? That's just absurd.

Bumgarner is the greatest World Series pitcher in the history of baseball. Over 43 IP with a 0.25 ERA. That alone is crazy

that's the problem with Kershaw, he gets in his own head, and loses his dominance. Some guys rise to the occasion like Madison, some fold like a house of cards like Clayton. Never know how a guy is going to do until he reaches it, because I'm sure the Dodgers thought in 2008 Kershaw would win them many championships in his career.

Not to be mean, but why was Kershaw considered the best? When bumgarner has consistently shown up in October while kershaw barely played his first world series this year? And yet he had one good game and one bad game..

Doesn't have the regular season accolades to even be considered. If you want someone that's been clutch as MadBum on the GOAT debate, go with Bob Gibson. He not only has been just as dominant in the postseason (if not more so as he has 2 World Series MVPs), but he also has the regular season output to match the guys of Randy Johnson, Nolan Ryan, and Cy Young.

As single-handedly as you can be in baseball. He was the *only* reliable pitcher for the Giants, both starters and relievers.

Seems everyone forgets Game 4 where the entire lineup crushed the Royals 11-4 and Mad Bum didn’t play.
