Just bought a set of these 10 years after release. I got fitted 10 years ago and then something came up and couldn't afford them. I absolutely love these and hit them so well
Yes they still have the CFS as a stock shaft in the S55. It spun like crazy for me, about 1200rpm too much. I ordered my S55's today with the C-Taper Lite.
Thought I'd add some more info to this, they're being priced around £90 an iron so pretty much in line with Mizuno's recent pm releases and other "players" clubs on the market. I think Mark missed a trick with his vid but it's completely understandable given his consistent striking, these things are a lot more forgiving than you expect or they look, personally I found them more forgiving than the MP54 but they have a really strong flight.
Hello from the great state of North Carolina Mark. Enjoy your videos very much. Always very useful information and demonstration. We have seen Tiger Woods and his back problems and how they affect his game. I too, have back problems and had a recent doctor visit, The doctor stated that he has seen some patients with major problems with their back associated with golf. Have you done a video, or do you plan one in the future, with tips on preventing back injury while playing golf?!
.. and 1 other could do a mega test of all these 'players' irons and run the numbers, launch angle, peak height, descent angle, dispersion, distance etc. I know major manufacturers working to similar tolerances so won't be huge variables but with three of you hitting, and there will be differences also with views on how they 'feel'. On the S55 test you also mentioned ping bending the lofts, they didn't used to be a fan of doing this as far as I remember. I know mizuno will do +or- 2degs....
picked up a set of i20's for winter golf when I'm not playing as much to get some more enjoyment out of the game. s55's look great, agreed not a massive change from the 56. +1 for you to demo the DHY adams vs. the big 3's driving irons. ++1 Review the SWINGBYTE 2!! cheers,
Mark, they look really good, seem good acoustically too (through the mike). Looking to finally change from my MP33's grooves getting more than a bit worn out now, but as I said on the MP4 test they look favourite, like you I'm a Mizuno guy really because of the feel and sound. (I play off 2) Definitely in the market for new irons now but this autumn so many 'players' irons coming out, Titliest 714 blades, semi cav's, AP2's; S55, MP54, some new Callaway's due. Any chance say you and James .....
What would you have him say? He liked the flight, the looks, and the feel and stated such. He says he gets more distance from his (Mizuno) clubs, but that it comes from having stronger lofts (he and Kevin even joke about it in their last Crediton vlog). As an "informed golf equipment enthusiast" you should realize by now that golf is entirely about feel, and that's why he ends pretty much every equipment review with "go try them out yourselves and tell me what you think".
Jonandjen67-I think u need to watch the vid again. We all know Mark is a mizuno man, but that was a pretty unbiased thumbs up for these clubs. Btw nice job mark, I'm in the market for a new set of clubs and these seem like they are worth testing.
Hi Mark, great review as normal. For someone used to the 712MB's from Titleist but looking to go up a little in forgiveness, which would you recommend out of these or the 714AP2's?
Mark- why would you want to crank the lofts? If you want to hit it further wouldn't you just take one more club? Also, does that then mean you'll need 3, maybe 4 wedges to fill the gaps at the low end of your bag? (good for PING, bad for your pocket) and leave you with 3 or 4 irons that are so difficult to hit you swap them out for hybrids (again, good for PING...). This whole obsession with how far you hit a 7 iron bemuses me, I thought iron play was about accuracy and distance control?...
Hitting Ping s57's now for my short irons in a combo set with i20's would love to replace them for my short irons! Anyone compared the two? Or s55 vs anser forged??
"This is the kind of club I want to hit but I trust myself more with the chunky ones" I thought you carried Mizuno MP-64's? These are not hard to hit, the S55.
Very curious as to the shaft in the s55, s56 stock cfs was quite light and produced a very high ball flight, is ping persisting with the cfs Regards, Shane, far north windy Queensland Aus.
Mark, love the S55's but don't have the cash to shell out for the brand new set right now. There's a practically brand new set of S56's I can buy for ~$500. It is worth waiting and saving or are they practically the same as the S56's? Thanks!
Good thing Mark had his spot reserved for him, looks super busy ;) love the videos. Random question and no obligation to answer it, but are you a partner of UA-cam? Do you get paid per video? Just thought I'd ask, very curious about the business end of what I'm watching.
Still amazing...so many pros still play them too in 2024...Matt Fitz, Cabrera, Bubba
after playing a set of australian blades for 25 yrs got fitted for s55s first time out shot my second ever lowest round they are just awsome
Just bought a set of these 10 years after release. I got fitted 10 years ago and then something came up and couldn't afford them. I absolutely love these and hit them so well
I still have S59s in my bag and couldn't part with them yet. Btw Mark, where is everyone else? Looks like you and James have the place to yourselves.
I know I am reviving an old thread but what did you end up replacing your S59s with?
I bought these the other day. Good enough for the US Open champ.
Your new camera seems to be capturing a MUCH higher frame-rate for the slowed down ball striking. Good stuff Mark.
I mean, I tried S56 irons this summer and it was pretty amazing! This
Have recent tried Ping S56 irons. From the very first shot it felt good. I mean, REALLY good! This new replacement must be rather special.

Very nice looking these, may well be tempted soon.

I like that idea too. I've never seen anyone make a video on those, I really would like to buy one if someone had a good review

I have the ping s56, do you think it is worth it to get the s55's?

Mark, can you compare the Ping s55 and the Mizuno MP-54. Looking to buy one of those in the coming months.

Mark any chance you can review the utility irons on the market(Callaway X Utility Prototype, Titleist 714u, Adams DHY, etc.)?
How does the desert fair to Exeter? I think everyone wants to know!!
Love a grass range

Can you revise taylormade speedblade thanks mark
Hi Mark,
What was that little Trackman gizmo you had on the ground called. Thank You
Loris
love the reserved sign with the place completely empty
Those look good
Optiforce review please
Agree - s56's priced themselves out of being relevant vs. other manufacturers. I'm sure s55 will be the same. Otherwise would consider it.

Does it have a speed pocket???
YEAH!!....SuPER SoLid
To be fair I think Mark is under pressure with his friends (GJ, Diamond etc..) as they hit it further.
Jonandjen67- did you even watch the video?
Fuck, why does UA-cam give me "error" when posting?
