      That is an excellent idea. Great place to look for families because you may already know them and they may know you. Best of luck to you, let me know how it goes.

      Hi Shauna,
      I know this can be very frustrating. You need experience but no one will hire you to give you the experience, UGH!!!
      The most helpful thing I can tell you is to become a Mothers Helper. This is where you play with and keep an eye on the kids while the parent is home. It gives them time to do what they need to do in the house because you are entertaining the kids. It gives the the time they need but also give you the experience you need without being left completely alone.
      This is a video I did on becoming a Mothers Helper. Hope it's helpful. Good Luck to you and DON'T GIVE UP!!

      It ight be helpful to babysit a cousin or a sibling first that way you can get experience without previously needing it.

    My neighbors have the cutest little toddler and I am a certified babysitter. I’ve been wanting to ask if they needed a sitter when I found out that my older neighbors ( there are 2) already babysit for them. Should I approach them or just wait?

      Just let them know that you babysit as well and if the other 2 people in the neighborhood can't sit one night, that maybe you can.

      Its really up to you. If you do, make sure you are putting an email instead of a phone number, and I wouldn't put a picture of yourself on it either. I would watch this video if you haven't already: ua-cam.com/video/9y_w4OoalGw/v-deo.html

    Do you have any tips for sitters who are new to a their neighborhood and don’t know any kids in the neighborhood and their neighborhood doesn’t have an app? And also too nervous to just walk up to random people to see if they need any babysitters?

    • @LydiaKutzBabysittingTips
      @LydiaKutzBabysittingTips  2 роки тому +1

      I would work on your confidence to just start conversations with people who you see at the park who have kids. Compliment the parent on how well the child is playing with others or how well the child listens to the parent. Example: "Your little one is a really good listener" or "Your little one is really good at sharing and playing with others". You just need to start those conversations. I'm sure you are a great person, and a great sitter, you just need to let others know.
      If you are new to the neighborhood you can get some note cards (maybe one that says hello on the front) and write a note to the neighbors who you see have kids letting them know you are new to the neighborhood and you babysit, that you are CPR and first aid trained (if you are). Even if you see they don't have kids write a note to those people too asking them if they know of anyone to pass your name along. They may have grandchildren.
