My old stomping grounds! I used to live across the street from the orange, just maybe like 5 mins away haha! Very cool to see the comparisons and to see how much has changed!
That was amazing! I grew up in Sunrise, FL and every 2 years we would drive up with our pop-up trailer and stay at Ft. Wilderness for a 4-day weekend. 192 was THE way to Disney World from the Turnpike from the south. Lots of memories. Stay Weird!
I miss the Larson's Lodge, right next door to Watermania water park. My folks and i used to stay at that Larson's when we took trips to Disney world. It was in the game room of that lobby i learned how to shoot pool at 8 years old and saw for the first time the Dragon's lair arcade machine and the Shoney's restaurant in the lobby. Oh,such great memories of great times.
Thanks Micah! Back in the day there were 20.00 Disney FL resident specials. We would take impromptu trips and stay at that Orange hotel. We could have a weekend for under 150.00 LOL. This video brought back nice memories.
Great video! I live nearby and always wonder about the places along 192. Sort of humorous that the person questioning your motives was someone from the church. 😛 I look forward to more of your videos uncovering local history!👍🏼
Went to kissimmee first in 1990 been there 18 times since over 30 years love that old times pictures brings back great memories well done keep up the great vlogs.
Brilliant video Micah! I remember the Rovers Return pub, named after the pub in the UK show Coronation Street. Really looking forward to more of these type of videos in the future.
Kissimmee native here I wasn’t around in that era but just seeing those photos now is just a bit creepy, by the looks of it but crazy how much has changed
The Record Motel used to feel like a second home to me, I always thought it was the best place to stay in the area, and probably still is, even if the name as changed to Knights Inn.
Do you have record of the Homewood Suites in Kissimmee? We spent our honeymoon there in 1993. Pretty sure it's long gone. I just remember how fancy I thought it all was. Probably not that way now. Thanks for the video Micah😊
Interesting stuff..... A look back is good... Shows you how change can be for the better.... Orange world is the best.... Everyone must know you there... right?.... Liked the travel music at the end..... Sorry if people are rude to you sometimes.... If they would just watch your videos, they would see you are just sharing things we people, not trying to do any harm.... thanks for sharing... take care... have a great day... thanks....👍👍👍👍
My family rented a house in the subdivision across the street from the old Kmart in 1984 and 1985.. we walked up to Kmart a few times... 1988 hubby and me stayed at the Motel 6 across from old town ...Even seen the Coasters at old town..had a blast at Disney. Still have 1.50 beach towels we bought at one of the gift shops right there.
My wife and i stayed at the Record motel for 13 years when Sylvia Chinese lady owned it i have a photo of my wife standing outside the Rovers Return pub, she was a big fan of Coronation Street back home on the Isle of Wight UK.
The pubs name was the rovers return not royers. It's based on a very famous pub from a British TV show. I remember going past it many times as a kid shame it's gone now
I'm here now and went to Cicis, built into the crazy golf rocks, the one where it says GOLF across the front in big red letters. I'm trying to remember what used to be there, it had a model train set running round the rocks and was really cool. Anyone remember the name?
Micah in 83 I stayed at the hotel down near the entrance to the turnpike. Where the Waffle house was and 7 eleven set back. Forget the name. Do you have any pics of that area?
Haaa. The big orange. I've been stuck in Canada for 24 months now and I miss that orange.soon I hope. Thanks for bringing this to us. Good memories

Hi Micah! We love when you do these retrospectives, especially since we never got to see those old attractions, businesses, etc!
WOW, everything looked so "busy" and crowded in those early pictures.
CHANGE is everywhere. That was enjoyable. Thanks for sharing with us, Micah.👏🤠🌈

Those theme park discount prices are now for the parking charge.

The word "Motel" seems like a bad word now to attract patrons.
micah you say the pubs name is rovers not royers
Yeah I totally know it’s Rovers but for some reason I didn’t catch myself lol 😂

@@worldofmicah No problem
Definitely not discount now. 🤑
Disney took all the patrons from these hotels after they started opening their resorts.
Turning a pub into a church? What a terrible waste of a building!
