I like this for both Colorado & Carolina. Don't have a clue what t hell Chicago is thinking. I mean I know Hall isn't the guy he was, but they've lost yet another vet who can play with Bedard.
Big trade. Here are my thoughts: Colorado: A-. To be honest its way too early to give any of the 2 main teams a real grade yet as we dont really know what the players will look like with their new teams. That being said, your getting younger and just getting more assets with this move. I dont think Necas is that significant of a downgrade from Rantanen while ur also getting Durey who will be a very nice top 4 D for them this year and for many years to come. Your also moving off a 1 year pending UFA. And i believe he was asking for like $13.5m AAV for 8 years? Yeah theres almost 0 chance the Avs are able to build a real contending team around their core guys with that contract. Very good move to trade him now while he still has value. This has been a quiet rebuild from the Avs getting their goalie tandam switched. Getting Middlestat as well along with this. Carolina: UND. It's genuinely impossible to give this team a grade yet because to be honest, if they don't win the Cup this year now its a bad trade. Your gonns either have to let him walk as an FA with no Cup, basically meaning you lost 2 long term pieces in Necas and Durey for nothing, or you sign him and now how do you afford to add more? I mean if they don't win the Cup then that means this core needs even more improving and with an 8x13.5 contract, they can't make any substantial moves. Now if they DO win the Cup which I'd stay they now are probably favored to, this is an A+ trade. Your achivement here is to win a Cup from this deal. If they do that this year then its a 10/10 deal. Chicago C+. Literally retaining like $4.625m salary on a 1 year deal while you have no means for competing in that stretch doesn't affect you in any way. On top of that, your getting YOUR 3rd which is probably like a top 70 pick in the draft? Not bad at all for doing really no harm to your team. Now losing Hall will hurt a little. I don't love the fact they got nothing for him at all, I mean theres 1 year left. Just resign him this off season for like a 2x3.5 and you automatically can get something. Not like freeing 6 million is big for this team now opening their options for a big name asset. Overall: I think Colorado did very well with the situation they were put in. A lot like Florida's Huberdeau deal where they kinda realized that this core just won't work. So they changed it up, made it allow for more flexibility overall and I think will extend their time as a Cup Contender. Carolina too early to judge. But a very boom or bust move. Chicago not magnificent in any way really.
Pretty clearly a win for Carolina in the short term, but Colorado could win in the long term if they can lock Necas up and Carolina fails to secure Rantinen.
I think both teams did good, not including CHI which was fine at best. Carolina is clearly going all in this year and I think Rantanen can help them win it all. Necas has stepped up a lot this year too considering he doesn't even play first line. I think he could be nasty for the Avs. U said 60 point guy pfft yeah no def ppg at least.
@MikeBartner in carolinas defense 1st system while he was only playing 17mins a nigjt amd not even with Aho , for half the price of rantenen that can barely skate he scores garbage goals
@CarolinaBuckrush he is dominant on the wing along the boards so brindamour would never move him to the middle and its wjy necas was leaving as soon as he could ...rantanen is asking for 14mil through out his 30 for a guy that tips pucks and wacks home rebounds
well yeah rantanen's a crazy good offensive player hurricane is a good way to describe him oh wait you mean like the team like a mock trade oh OH OH SHIT OH DAMN THIS IS REAL CAROLINA'S SO BACK
Hurricanes fan, not happy about this trade. We got nothing we needed and made our problems worse. We needed a center to support Necas because he's been weighed down by Kotkeniemi and Robinson. Now we only have 3 centers and nobody to support Rantenan. Necas was on a 100 pt pace this year despite being with linemates who are 4th liners. Rantenan is on the best line in the league, anybody could get 100 pts playing with MacKinnen and Makar. This isn't a 1 to 1 trade. Even if it was, it wouldn't make sense because Necas is the point producer on our second line. We still need a 2nd line center. And now we need a second 4th line center because Kotkeniemi is on the 2nd line
Orlov is gone with Nikishin coming and Burns is aging, I wouldn't want him even if he signed a Joe Thornton contract, besides we have Morrow who is NHL ready NOW and idk why he isn't on NHL roster rn
The Hawks got fleeced. They should have at least got a pretty good player in return (eg. Brent Burns). The Pens should have also asked the Hawks if they can help retain 50% of Erik Karlsson's salary by accepting Taylor Hall and giving them a 3rd round pick. EK can probably be a good D partner for Roman Josi on the Preds
@ but if they also helped you retain half of Rantanen’s hefty contract, don’t you have to give them some thank-you gift in return? Either a pending UFA 40-year-old Burns or a good prospect + a 4th liner/bottom 4 D is still better than none
@@jameskingscomicsandenterta3504 With the Hawks retaining salary for Mikko, its only a little less than a half of a season, looking at it that way i understand just a 3rd, although would have preferred a conditional 3rd tho. i think if we didn't retain any salary it would have been a 4th just for Taylor Hall. also the Hawks got back there 3rd so its a Guaranteed high 3rd due to standings
Carolina: A Colorado: C- Chicago: B- Carolina fleeced the Avs here it goes without saying Rantanen is by far the best player in this trade and sure I get that the Avs might not have been able to extend him so tough spot but value wise this trade is so far off. I don't think the Avs contention window is closed just they got Necas and nothing else it's not even like they got a 1st and a good prospect on top of Necas that they could then flip into another solid player to holster their lineup they just flat out got way worse and didn't really gain much other than future cap space but with the cap going up 5mil + this off season who cares should've just paid up for Rantanen and moved out Girard or 1 of their dmen to bridge the gap
They need D. You cant trade Girard. They weren't going to get more for a UFA player. Most UFA trades involve a prospect and pick if you're lucky. Mostly a pick and and a c/b level prospect.

Great for Canes. Aho got his boy. Necas with Mckinnon will be something to watch
Colorado got FLEASED
Definitely not a fleece lmfao
Stay in school son
rantanen and aho reuniting is amazing just imagine we kept teravanien and the finns could still be together
Canes aren't done. Another big trade is cooking. Stay tuned!
Would love to see it
As an avs fan should I be disappointed or happy we at least got a solid return
I mean Necas is a 75-85 point player for sure, will be interesting how he does if he plays with MacKinnon. Will be tough to replace Mikko’s production. Drury is literally nothing lol
Happy. Necas will be 100 point player with MacKinnon. While Rantanen point totals are going to get worse. Maybe even Huberdeau level.
@@SaunaPerkele_5people who say this gotta be tweaking man. what about rantanen makes u think his point totals will drop off that hard playing with playmakers like aho jarvis and svechnikov? he performed even without mackinnon several times and has not always been deployed with him. the stats speak for themselves
colorado got finessed
I like this for both Colorado & Carolina. Don't have a clue what t hell Chicago is thinking. I mean I know Hall isn't the guy he was, but they've lost yet another vet who can play with Bedard.
It sucks that we had to part with him but there was no way we were gonna be able to resign him so atleast we got assets
Canes fleeced the Aves and Chicago hahahhaha
Damn it. Was hoping for some necas for miller package deal. Lol.
HAHAHAHAHA ain't no one want Miller
@MikeBartner Tha fuk? Is that THE Mike Bartner making fun of me?
Nice. Lol.
Watch him sign with the sharks this offseason
im an avs fan and crying
I definetely think $6.5 for Necas is waaay too low to be reasonable.
Big trade. Here are my thoughts:
Colorado: A-.
I’m confused why Colorado didn’t just pay ranatanen
He doesnt deserve more than mack
He wants 14 million 💀 That's more than Nathan MacKinnon and would sabotage the team.
Because $14m/ yr for a winger is insane.
As the Leafs will find out…
Just wait till he signs an extension which will probably have him paid 14 mil till he’s 37. The first 4 years will be fine. The final 4 will be rough
If he wanted $14 mill I get why they'd think that's too much
Imagine if the canes get miller too?
Does this mean Crosby to the avs???
Few hours removed and as an avs fan this still doesn’t feel real,I’m gonna puke🤢🤢
Pretty clearly a win for Carolina in the short term, but Colorado could win in the long term if they can lock Necas up and Carolina fails to secure Rantinen.
Obviously Rantanens resigning demands were too much for the Av's. They had to trade him or loose him for nothing.
Avs win that trade Necas is most underrated player in the league and is a natural center
no freaking way ! But I am glad that Avs pushed an autodestruction button ! Way to go !
Necas is not good at center. He’s a really solid winger though
Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh not sure about that, Necas is a 60-70 point guy though
@MikeBartner in carolinas defense 1st system while he was only playing 17mins a nigjt amd not even with Aho , for half the price of rantenen that can barely skate he scores garbage goals
@CarolinaBuckrush he is dominant on the wing along the boards so brindamour would never move him to the middle and its wjy necas was leaving as soon as he could ...rantanen is asking for 14mil through out his 30 for a guy that tips pucks and wacks home rebounds
No chance it was an internal cap deal. Mikko probably wants the highest AAV in the league. Still a big hit for the avs not being able to extend him
well yeah rantanen's a crazy good offensive player hurricane is a good way to describe him oh wait you mean like the team like a mock trade oh OH OH SHIT OH DAMN THIS IS REAL CAROLINA'S SO BACK
Fr, not sure if this moves the needle for the canes... I know that they get a great player, but Kotchekov and Anderson are not a great tandom
I miss the mustache
Mikko Rantanen ruined many people’s year
It wasn’t his fault that he got traded
Shoot, i wish the Kinga got Ran. Maybe they trade Byfield and Fiala for him. I'm not sure, but Ran would smoke on a line with Kempe and Kopi.
Feel bad for Rantanen he is now with a bad team he had the opportunity to be with the habs the team who is going to win the cup this year
LOL
Dude,Necas is better than Jarvis. Jarvis is on the 3rd line and doesn't win OTs like Necas does with Aho
They will sign nikisin not Burns
They got a 3rd for Hall, not sure you can be tooooo mad
Carolina: A
Colorado: C-
Chicago: B-
Carolina fleeced the Avs here it goes without saying Rantanen is by far the best player in this trade and sure I get that the Avs might not have been able to extend him so tough spot but value wise this trade is so far off.
Mostly a pick and and a c/b level prospect.
think cale makar is happy sign poor 12,5 million contract in near future coz mckinnon get that and nobody should get more than golden boy :) im happy rantanen get in canes this end of season. aho and moose going to make canes stanley cup winner.
i am sad.
Neither Burns or Orlov need to be re-signed.
Alexander Nikishin is coming over, and Scott Morrow is as well. Both can fit right in on ELC’s
Very true
this^^^
7 of his 25 goals are empty netters. That puts him on pace to score 30 when a goalie is in the net Its not like hes some clutch sniper.
I dont understand, how can colorado not sign him but carolina can? Carolina has cap space?
Next year we will.
@@louiscavenaugh whose contract is expiring?
@@RaimotarkkiBurns and Orlov alone will be around $11.5 million and they are going to bring up two stud young defensemen in ELCs. Freddy will be gone, so will Fast, bye bye Roslovic, oh and Hall is just a rental. They will have about $30 million in cap.
@@CarolinaBuckrush I will also add that Erick Robinson's contract is up at the end of the season.
@ he’s likely going to be extended. Him and Rants are going to be the major two that the Canes look to extend. Hall will be a rental, Burns and Orlov are going to be replaced by promising young guys on ELCs, unfortunately Fast’s career is likely done, Roslovic is decent but can be easily replaced and or a rookie can come up, and Freddy is going to need to be replaced.
He's not allowed to make more than McKinnon at $12.6AAV. hahahahaahahaha. The McKinnon artificial cap sticklers.
WOW. 14 - 12.6 = 1.4
Whoooooooooa there Gretzky of saving money. Seriously 1.4 million dollars in savings and the Avs didn't get a top prospect.
P.S. Malkin made more money than Sidney Crosby who didn't have a $8.7 cap limit set for Geno.
