@@ashthesasta3588 weird I see all of these comments about the ‘uncanny animation’, when I watched it back in 2008 as a kid it never freaked me out, I was just always fascinated about the train!

Not to mention that the movie gets re-released in theaters every year since it 1st came out, mostly in IMAX 3D. Josh Groban's "Believe" is even played on the radio around Christmastime.
This movie is so special to me❤️ not only that it’s one of the best animated Christmas films of all time. But I was also born in 2004 when this came out!! Tom is so talented!!
It’s amazing how many voices Tom hanks does in this movie. Just goes to show how talented he is. I watch this movie every year and the and the animation in this movie never fails to amaze me.
Unbelievable! When I first saw this movie in theaters nearly 2 decades ago, I had no idea what a technical innovation I was seeing on the big screen. And the fact that Tom played more than one character is absolutely insane! The Polar Express is no Toy Story. But the themes of holding onto the spirit of Christmas and inner youth make it worth revisiting once in a while!
Just watched this one again for the first time in years, and it’s honestly even better than I remember! I love hearing Tom Hanks in all of these different roles (I could always tell it was his voice as the ghost and the conductor and Santa), the score is still one of the best Christmas movie scores ever written, and the CGI actually really holds up really well! Not as much “uncanny valley“ feel as I remembered. This movie is a treasure. Thank you for releasing these behind-the-scenes bits!
This brilliant groundbreaking Christmas film came out in 2004 but it took tell 2008 for the dvd release those 4 years was the longest walt ever I would cry sometimes just wondering why it taken so long for the dvd release.
The polar express happens to be one of my favorite Christmas movies of all time. If someone could please do me a favor and get a message to Tom Hanks. Please tell him that I said that he did an outstanding job. Playing all these characters. This movie happens to be my nieces favorite movie of all time as well. I gave it to her for her birthday when she was three years old. She was so stoked. In fact she was very excited and she said. The polar express three! That’s how excited she was.
The problem is when it's on regular cable, they shrink/cut/mute the closing credits, so they lose the Josh Groban song, "Believe", which was the theme playing through the whole movie! Infuriating, at least...
I don’t disagree with that. It is kind of sad that on television they cut that part out where Josh Groban sings the song believe. From the polar express. It is a pretty song. But you’re right it is disappointing. They took that part out at the end
@Ahmet Tunç He only did the voice for the adult version of Hero Boy towards the end of the film. Daryl Sabara did the voice for the kid throughout the film.
What’s amazing is how Tom Hanks played 5 characters and I always saw it as the boy seeing himself in each of the characters. Like the father and the hobo ghost being like the ghost of Christmas future if he continues to not believe, the conductor if he does, Santa being the Christmas spirit that is still in him! I also love how most of the characters do not emphasize their names so that the people watching could put themselves in their shoes. The Polar Express is such an immersive and nostalgic movie and I have no idea why anyone would hate it! It’s got such a great lesson within!
I watched it in theaters when it came out with my little brother, I was like 15 but it was fun to watch with my family. I liked watching my brother being in awe of the north pole and the train itself. I just showed this movie to my son this year (2023), he's 3, and watching him get into the movie and enjoy it made me so happy. I got to relive for a second time a child watching in awe and wonder. Since I showed him the movie, we watched it at least 6 more times and I think more as the season gets closer to Christmas. I hate how underrated this film was. This film is a classic in our family.
This movie reveals who you really are inside I found myself wanting the best for that young man that is waiting for a beautiful Christmas.. I even wished for the same thing that the boy wished for I love this movie and Tom Hanks I can't thank him enough for being part of my childhood as well as the rest of the cast. ❤
I still can't believe his talent and the fact he played the little boys voice. This is my all time favorite movie and these facts just make me love it even more! I literally watch this movie even in the middle of the summer and probably every day in December. Love him!
He didn’t do the boys voice. He just did the motion capture performance. Later on, they brought in Daryl Sabara (who you might remember as Juni from the Spy Kids trilogy) to record the voice

With this mo-cap technique, the real-life actor becomes the armature for the CG character, so, one actor CAN play several roles, up to ALL of the roles. Now, THAT is an interesting idea... "Hamlet", with ONE physical actor (just change the voice actors... or NOT).... OK, Tom and Bob, there's your challenge. A CG/mo-cap movie where Tom plays ALL the roles, including voices... a movie about CLONES (young, middle-aged, old, different costuming)?
Right you are! One of the beauties of motion capture is the capacity for an individual actor or actress to portray multiple characters in a film or video game.
Even after it's release 20 years ago it still amazing even today how they managed to make the film 🎥📽️ in the first place. Probably the best Christmas 🎄 animation film of all time. Well done 👍 Warner Brothers and Robert Zemeckis etc for a classic. 😂
We should give props to Tom Hanks for playing 5 characters in 1 movie.
Cloud Atlas too.
He shouldn't have done the motion capture for the kids. It made for a freaky look. lol.
That’s why he is the GOAT!
Like Frank Morgan when he did The Wizard of Oz.
He was also the narrator so really 6
I didn't know Tom play most of the characters especially the kid..
It totally blew my mind. 😲
yeah same i thought he only played the conductor so watching this video was like ???
Tom hanks what a talented man
You gotta love his work
Especially when he played woody from the toy story movies
I know right! So clever and unbelievable
He played the kid, yeah, but the voice was done by the young kid in spy kids
Polar Epress was released 16 years back and still rocks at realistic Cgi!!!
He shouldn't have done the motion capture for the kids. It made for a freaky look. lol.
More like uncanny valley CGI.
Atleast it was a great improvement for that time
Lol it wasn't supposed to look real

Something no one can criticize about this film is the score! It's unbelievably beautiful to listen to, definitely one of the best of all time imo!
Can we all just take a moment and say that tom hanks is one of the best actors. He play fun roles like this and serious ones like saving private ryan

I’ve been a fan of him since Toy Story

Out of all characters he played, I liked Hobo the most. I never thought he would be that really creepy and scary.
Well done, Mr. Hanks!!
i always thought he was the ghost of Christmas past
I thought he was funny and honestly, Scrooge doll aside, he always showed up at the most clutch moments and helped out the boy in any way possible lol
