It’s hard to explain but I feel like George tried a bit too hard on this album to make it sound poppy for a festival crowd. I don’t mean to be negative and I mean it when I say he’s my biggest inspiration. It’s just that I prefer him with his guitar, voice, and a few complementary instruments behind him. With all this added stuff to make the songs sound upbeat, it just takes away from his magic imo. At the end of the day, just an opinion. He looks happier than ever and that’s what matters!
More to my point, I remember George posting a short clip on insta about a year ago, of him playing anyone for you on acoustic guitar. In that short clip I was convinced it was going to be my favorite song of his. And tbh when it came out, apart from the lyrics and melody it just sounded so done up and frankly not that recognizable. But I suppose that’s what sells more
