wow. this is such commendable work. i'm speechless at the volume of effort you've put into this, even without considering the difficulties you've been having health-wise. i'm glad you feel better now and were able to put _this_ out into the world. i'm sure it was painful and hard, but i'm telling you it wasn't for nothing. one of the best yellowjackets edits, period. mistynat for life! on an unrelated note, i'm really excited for misty's arc next season. god, the weight of what she's done must be crushing. for someone so seemingly devoid of conscience it's gonna be one hell of a ride. and nat, well. i loved her so much, may she rest in peace. i'm afraid it was never ending any other way. once again, you're just great. thank you for sharing your work!
I can't tell you how much receiving this comment meant to me. I was feeling really nervous and self-conscious posting this edit (because it was so long, I haven't edited in ages, and I wasn't as perfect with it as my usual edits) and I wasn't sure anyone would even watch it let alone like it. So when I saw your comment just before going to sleep it eased so much of my anxiety. I'm excited for misty's arc too! though I am also nervous. After the show threw Misty/Walter at us in s2 I'm wary of their handling of her character and hope they'll actually give this the space it deserves in the story and not just gloss over it. I do think Misty has a conscience but it's incredibly shallow and there are very few things that are important enough to her for her to feel over for any extended period of time. Nat was important to her, arguably the most important thing in her life. So it's definitely going to be a ride. Yeah with Nat it's not so much the fact that she died (a part of me thinks that all yellowjackets except maybe Misty are going to die one by one) but the way in which she died. Recovering and then having her death blamed as an overdose. and then what they said about how the reason they killed her off is because she was self-destructive and an addict and so of course she was going to die (I'm paraphrasing but that was the gist of the interview) which I think is a really terrible thing to believe and then share in your show. Again thankyou so much for your comment
@@Welcometocaritas i'm glad i was able to ease your mind!! i completely understand what you're going through. maybe not on a personal level, but someone very significant to me nearly died of covid in 2021. i watched real time what the virus was capable of doing, how destructive it was, and it's a marvel and a point of _pride_ that you've recovered so far and are continuing to. wish nothing on you but further victories! i think they threw misty/walter at us not just for the sake of the romance. i don't believe that's just it. you simply wouldn't waste elijah as an actor merely on that. there is something up with him, i've felt it since day one. since day one! something's cooking. he's not quite normal. i absolutely agree with you and don't deny that misty does have feelings, she does care about certain parts of life. there is no denying that now, especially with the way sammy played her latest wilderness scenes. misty isn't just a straightforward, shallowly written sociopath. she's not a safe person to be around, but she's capable of feeling love. she doesn't know _how_ to love, but the phenomenon is there. it's so heartbreaking to witness. that's why it stings with the way natalie happened. she'll tear herself apart over that one. it's a lasting thing now. i get where you're coming from with natalie, really. it's important to have this sort of awareness, but then. it's yellowjackets. the cannibalism viewed as a form of love and intimacy as well as a gesture of grief, the ritual deaths that deify jackie and distort memories of her. destruction all around. not for the faint of heart, i don't think. then again, what you're paraphrasing _does_ sound concerning. do you mind sharing the interview so i could understand for myself? what i've thought up ever since i watched the finale was that... natalie was always meant to die because of how deeply she was traumatised by what all of them had to do, but especially _her_ actions because she was elevated to the position of Antler Queen. it means that when the cabin burned down, she had to start making maddeningly hard _leader_ choices. whatever she thought was right, everyone else did. if they disobeyed, she might think that was also on her; you could say disobedience is a sign of a weak leader. and the addiction happened at all _because_ she took every single hit too hard, she went home with all of it. no one could understand that, arguably only lottie could. to my mind, she died because she was the moral compass of the group. she absorbed all the moral dilemmas and stayed alone with them so that the others could be free of this struggle. the addiction is more of a consequence of that rather than the reason she died. the fact that she died of a supposed overdose, well, that's the customary level of tragedy i've come to expect. i was heartbroken but thrilled over it. it just made sense. the Wilderness takes your weakest points and uses them against you. She provides no dignity in death unless you follow Her rules. natalie never did, she never seemed to bend. and there is only so much patience a parent would have even for their favourite child. apologies for the essay! overall, very happy my comment meant this much. beyond relieved you're fighting your way to recovery! ps. aw, root rocks!!!!!!!!!!
@@migratory.114 lol it's fine I like essays 😂Thankyou ❤ I'm sorry to hear that about that person who caught covid, I hope they're doing okay now. I've had a post viral illness since I was 11 that has completely destroyed my life so I'm very familiar with how dangerous viruses can be (and my covid infection has unfortunately permanently worsened my condition, but thankfully my hands aren't one of the things permanently impacted). Covid is so much more destructive and harder to avoid than any other virus I've come across, though, in large part down to how easily it spreads. It's the long term effects that are most worrying because of the damage each infection causes the immune system and organs, I remember one study said it had a similar effect on T cells as HIV. So just praying I don't get infected again 🤞 I think, just like with AIDS, we won't be seeing the true consequences of covid until years down the track. Hopefully a better vaccine can be invented soon. Oh there's definitely something fishy going on with Walter, that's a given. But I do also think he's primarily there as a love interest for Misty (who also functions for plot purposes like framing Kevin for Adam's murder and probably some more nefarious stuff next season. They'll do something big with his character). Oh Sammy broke my heart in those scenes. Definitely. She loves to the point that it consumes and destroys. She doesn't know any other way. See your justification for Nat's death is actually good and I would be on board with that because it makes sense for her character and the show. What they said in that interview was just 🤢 I've really got to see if I can find it. I saw screenshots of it going around twitter after the final because a lot of people were rightfully upset about what was said in it. But I didn't bookmark the tweet. I've been trying to remember specific phrases so that I can type it into google search and hopefully track down the article but it was ages ago and my memory is so bad 😭 I just remember being shocked that was their reason and they'd come out so blatantly and said it because before then I'd given them the benefit of the doubt.
@@Welcometocaritas yo, i'm _really_ hoping you stay safe and as healthy as you can!! you're a great talent on the editing side of the community. known your work a long time, would prefer to have one of my fav creators safe and sound. 💌 i mean, look, i hope whatever was circulating on twitter is a case of a lost crucial piece of context. the people behind yellowjackets are much too evolved to spew something like that. to my mind, at least. but i'm not putting them on a pedestal either. i'd appreciate a source if you do find it sometime!! and remember that we all support you on this recovery! 💞💌
@@migratory.114 thankyou! oh my gosh, that's such a kind thing to say, I'm so glad you love my work.that means a lot. I've been trying to fill the editing void by doing fanart instead because it's easier on my wrist and fingers but I've definitely missed editing. have decided to start it up again but really pace myself. Personally I'm not sure there's any context that could make their words sound better but I do think it's wise of you to take that stance and withhold judgement. all you've got is a secondhand account from me and my memory isn't the best. always better to see evidence firsthand before forming an opinion. I haven't had time to do a proper look for the article yet but it's on my to do list. wishing you the best
WOAH. W O A H. This was absolutely INCREDIBLE. I'm a little dumbfounded after it, to be honest! I'm glad that you decided not to split these up - they do tell a much better story as a whole, even though this must have been a beast for you to put together (and sit on until it was done! The hardest part!). Phenomenal work, the coloring was gorgeous and honestly with a masterpiece like this extra effects really weren't needed (though I understand how frustrating it must be not to do what you'd like to, and I hope you continue to heal!!!). The clips you chose and your timing...truly blew me away. There were also several parallels that you included in here that I never thought about (and believe me, all I do is think about parallels!) which was so juicy and fun. Wow. Just amazing work, I will be watching this thesis video whenever I need some extra inspiration!
oh wow! thankyou so much for this truly lovely comment, I'm so glad you liked this vid! I was so certain people wouldn't because of its length and the lack of preciseness & effects. Lol I'm glad that I have a really good computer these days for editing because the thought of making this on my old laptop makes me cry. sony vegas would have crashed like a thousand times. Oh now I'm interested to know what parallels you hadn't thought of before! I'm so pleased that this video can function as a form of inspiration for you in the future (one of the reasons I made it was so I could have something to watch before reading misty/nat fics so that I could get a sense of the characters again because sometimes it gets a bit faded, and the same would hold true for writing fics)
Sobbing all over them again 😭😭
LIKE FR THIS IS SO GOOD THE DETAILS THE PARALLELS YOU CONNECTED THEM PERFECTLY
NO LIKE FR DETAILS I WOULD NEVER THINK OF IM REALLY STUNNED BY UR AMAZING WORK
GOD THIS IS SO GOOD IM SPEECHLESS

WAITTTT this is amazing, do you mind me asking where you got your scene pack?
hi thankyou :) I don't use scene packs because I can never get the quality that I like. So I make my own using handbrake
