Thanks for the info. I just ordered one with the shell, for $8
I'm sure it will come in handy one day, said the hoarder...
Delayed Conduction Function. Got It?! :-) It is so much fun watching someone smarter than I, explaining things I may figure out one day.
Excellent video - answered all of my questions regarding this controller's features and functions
This will be perfect for a dump load in a solar system.
Wonderful, was looking earlier this year and only found solutions costing ~300$.
Useful controller. I think I'm going to order one for my self.
Hi, Julian!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to You and All Your Loved Ones! Thank You for Continued Awesome Content! Review the diesel heater next Spring if you could (?). Thanks!
Thanks jluca. The very best to you and yours too :)
Good afternoon.
At the beginning of the video, you are using a small fork connector (Fork U).
Can you reset the link to those connectors you are using?
Thank you.
I could see FOp as quite useful if the process of starting your equipment causes severe voltage drops (i.e. starting a car's engine), and one risks dropping below the lower threshold.
I believe that was the intention of FOB
This must be a new product. Last year I made a solar powered motion detector light for the side of the house, and used an old lead acid battery from my scooter to power it.
I had to put in a circuit to cut the solar power if the battery voltage went over 13.85V and cut the load if the voltage went under 11V.
I searched all over and had to build my own using an LM311 comparator a few resistors, 10 turn trim pots and a relay.
What a pain that was to build and trouble shoot! I'd forgotten that LM311 has an open collector output.
Great review on how to use it!
I'm just going to edit this comment from the start and try over. According to the Amazon listing for this item (which does show some helpful diagrams), NBE means the battery does not meet the device's requirements for use. Incompatible, in other words. However, in "IN" mode, the device works as an overcharge protection. The battery hooks up to the "OUT" terminals and the "IN" terminals are from the charger's output leads. In your scenario, you are getting NBE because the light bulb is understandably an incompatible battery type ;)
I'm half way through building a Arduino nano project.
The software is done, and it's fairly simple.
I did it to balance batteries of different types , and limited charge as well as burn off excess to give some control. As well as upper and lower limits.
Basically it has some voltage readings, and some control relays (common Micro relays from a car).
The small per battery control is 20amp, but I also have 100amp for main control. (On off)
I've not done any GUI as I've coded it easy enough for entering per battery voltage, and maximum voltages (cut off peak) as well as a main such off.
I could address current, not that's not really my concern as I have high enough voltage and therefore fairly low amps (18)
Bill and Ben? "Fopadop" 🤣🤣🤣
it looks like the unit mounted in the istabreeze wind controller,,, i purchased the a30 u3 unit i belive that should be able to do the same as this turning on and off af a high and low voltage??
There are 10A and 20A versions of this that appear to operate with the same interface, but they are only a dollar or two less than the 30A, so this one is likely a better value and gives the relay more headroom and lifespan in lower-current applications The 10A relay /might/ have a lower quiescent current than the 30A, but not sure if the difference is substantial or not. This type of relay usually only draws 5-10mA when active, but the circuit around it likely draws more than that.
It might work good as a automatic relay for a power supply, when you turn it on and turn it off?
Can you recommend the same reliable without screen? I want to use with the second lifepo4 battery and refrigerator in the car. Thank you
Cool.
Op, dop, fop, barney mcgrew, cuthbert, dibble and grub.
It’s got this 30 amp relay that’s more than enough for my ‘current’ setup…
Oh yes - I saw what you did there - LOL
So dop and fop are like debounce settings for when the relay switches on or off. Maybe?
This item can use for charging controller ? Change up voltage 12V and down voltage 13.8V
A good video Sir.
can this module be used for lead acid and alkali as well?
It probably means don't go above a 48V battery since the top of a 16S LFP battery is like 56 or 58 volts
At 9:26 - is there any way to change this i.e., prevent it flashing, or at least have it stop flashing after a while, after low voltage disconnect is triggered? I mean without having to manually press a button. Wonder if the LP-on and off might do it
Yes, that might do it.
For the voltage input I think its saying you can do 60v but it's best to not exceed 48v for the life and reliability of the device.
I recently bought an induction heater that had a similar voltage rating.
A resistive load could be fine at 60v but don't try a inductive one. You may be able to burn pretty quickly through your contacts. Lower current should give the headroom to work with higher voltages though.
I can't get out of discharge please help
hello, anybody knows how to make it take 88v? maybe 2 charger controller together
Have you tested the current of your flying capacitor bms already? I'm curious how it performs, and may buy one for my solar system.
From memory, it's 12mA when running, 500uA when in sleep.
The NBE according to the eBay listing images is: No Battery Access.
Although the instructions don't mention this I'm thinking it maybe because for charging the battery you have to reverse your settings when you put it in charging mode.
I'm wondering if you could do a sort of UPS circuit with this. But it probably won't be fast enough.
Switching would be too slow, but you could slap a seriously oversized output super cap to hold over for the switching time.
Obviously DC only.
what kit is 3:25 ?
is that from ebay too!.
How much current does it draw
That was good info Julian. I wonder how much current the unit draws aside from the load?
At 22V, 0.005A.
110mW, 396WHr?
At 11:45... why not test it by putting a battery and a series 1K resistor on the OUT side (now input)? I think it would then show the battery voltage instead of 00.0V.
Well this is Julian we are talking about!
If this device was used for a device that had a refrigeration compressor or air compressor it could keep it from fast cycling when the compressor turns off and head pressure is high, give the machine time to cool or bleed off....
nbe No Battery Eliminator??
If you wire it up wrong you find the MSFlop mode. (Magic Smoke) Flop mode
it's 30A AC, considerably less in DC operations.
I could be wrong but I think the nbe stands for no battery
Interesting that it doesn’t have a high voltage shut off too. Ie after on, if you go over say 26v shut off.
Also why use a rely and not just a mosfet? A fet for that range are cheap as chips.
Relays make a cool sound.
@@mikebond6328 🤣
This might be used to connect a battery charger to a battery. A relay makes it easier to switch the mains side of that charger.
@@JulianIlett Ok, I guess that makes sense, although FETs can do the same and last longer. What about the high side shut off?
741 opamp springs to mind from my yoof
You Can't Do a Fop without a Dop! I Thot. Am I Distrot? Oh, my. My wife Got Busted For Pot! And it's Legal, Now!! (The Charge was Filtered Through a Capacitor.) ;-)
NBE (NO BATTERY ENABLE)
The manufacturer really needs to try harder on their English translation.
Please make some short < 10 minutes videos :( These are getting harder to watch...

Clearly a bunk physical design/layout if you have to resort to that wiring monstrosity to use it in a way that makes sense.
