On Uk Decca from Jan 1967 comes the mighty Attack with their take on the Standells US hit from 1966 . A freakbeat classic ,and still gets dancefloor action.
There was a commercial in the 60's that said: try it you'll like it. The sad part of it, they didn't play this song. Just that I'm trying to figure out what commercial was that. But everyone back then was saying, Try it you'll like it. Great song by way !!!
I found that THE ATTACK released this is January 1967, wheras The Standells' single is said to be from APRIL, see 45cat dicography. The Standells LP of the same name is fromOCTOBER 67 and Second Hand SOngs lists this one as the original.
The Standells version is the original. Joey Levine wrote the song w/ Marc Bellack, but The Ohio Express recorded their version almost a year after The Standells.
the standells version was released in April 1967 www.45worlds.com/vinyl/album/cas1087 and the Attack version was released January 27, 1967 www.45cat.com/record/f12550. So THIS is the first version and not a cover. Levine and Bellack were not members of the Standells, so it must have been a song that was shopped around
What a good choise of track to cover. They do a good Beat rendition of this track and its sure to please U.K. Freakbeat collectors and fans of great 60's mualike
This group certainly lived up to their name with their rendition of this number. The testifying vocal at the end is effective, too.
Nice version. Thanks.
A great bass, vocal, drum and guitar; a great song...but the bass..oh my God...great.
One word for this track, “killer”!!!!!!
I played on this before later joining Marmalade
The best version of this song! (for me).
The Attack has intersected punk and metal, respect.
Attack class breakbeat! Love the groove
in case noone said, "try it" is a Ohio Express song originally , the Standells did a cover

Thanks for the song Mod!!!!
I'd have to side with this version, dig the mean groove the Attack's specific sound adds to it :)
Great tune
Definitely worth trying! ;o)

Great information !
Ohio a Express do a killer fuzz guitar cover of this great song.
A good British beat band...BUT, on this occasion i've gotta side with The Standells psych/garage version
Na dude The Attack is a lot better. The drumming is awesome. More rocking, but love The Standells.
What a good choise of track to cover. They do a good Beat rendition of this track and its sure to please U.K. Freakbeat collectors and fans of great 60's mualike
Really enduring good cover, but also remember the Ohio Express original one !
It sounds a bit like Eric Burdon!
I thought Created By Clive was their first 45?
i gotta go with the attack. it's more raw than the standell's or ohio's versions: no high-pitched back up vocals, and a dominant bass. love it.
Puh- leeze, better than the Standells....HA!!
Too pop...Standells funkier.
