    I have used seed stitch on the bottom of garter stitch items, it looks so pretty ! And I dip my cables in simmering water and quickly straighten the cable as you run it under cold water.

    Kaci, your linen fabrics look lovely; it is a great fabric to work with. I have been 'absorbing' fabric into my house in the last two years so, of course, my sewing machine stopped working last week (sigh) ordered a cheap machine so I can finish a few projects. Your soho top has a nice neckline and looks good on you!

    I would love to see a podcast about knitting needles! I, too have been getting a closer fabric over the last few years. I have to go down 2 to 3 sizes to get close to the gauge now and often I'm knitting with size 0 or 1. I have a large collection of needles from a lifetime of knitting and I am totally in love with chiaogoo needles so rarely use any of my other brands. Love your podcasts!

    Thank you for another wonderful video Kaci! I have been wanting to get into sewing for a little while now and the more you share your sewing journey, the more inspired I become to dive into that craft! I also absolutely adore your soho top and air tee! Both are on my to-knit list. Have a wonderful week!

    Love fully printed patterns-so much easier for me. For the needles; I use chiaogoo 90% of the time, but if I need a wooden needle, I love the lykke driftwood needles-but I use the knitters pride cords with them because I tried it based on someone else’s recommendation and they fit great! I find lykke cords always seem to kink/bend in the wrong place or come loose from the ends. The tips are very nice to use though! ❤

    Regarding going down
    Needle sizes I can recommend checking out Patty Lions new book. Patty Lyons Knitting Bag of tricks. She talks about gauge and not going down needle sizes. If you like the fabric she shows you how to adjust the pattern. It’s a great book. I struggle with getting garage so this was really helpful for me. I live linen too. Can’t wait to see all those pieces made up. Great podcast.

    I’m finally catching up on FiberTube and am so excited to see your sewing projects as they evolve. I still have newbie syndrome when it comes to fabric materials and yardage requirements and which direction to cut etc etc. I’ve wanted to sew the estuary skirt but the button holes are intimidating AF ❤❤❤

    Kaci your knits are so pretty. The soho top is one pattern I just purchased and hoping to make this summer. I also love the chiaogoo needles. Personally I think you should stick with the metal needles because you sound like it’s your comfort zone, but, that being said if the wooden needles work out and they don’t drive you crazy because they’ll slow ya down lol then use those. Another beautiful video. Ty 🤗🧶🌸🌸

      My favorite part is being able to chose the lines for just the size(s) that I want in the pdf, and just printing those. Maybe it’s just me, but all those lines are overwhelming. 😂

    Thank you for the tip on the silicone cords. I just switched to ChaioGoo Needles and needed cords to use for trying on. I’m eager to hear what you think of various needles. Is there a reason you use fixed instead of interchangeable? I can wait to hear your answer in your needle podcast.
    Love the addition of sewing. I used to sew many of my clothes but never really learned to make woven fabrics fit. I, too, love to wear linen, but I hesitate to try sewing it as I don’t know that it will fit. I’d better learn some fitting techniques. I can’t wait to see all your linen garments.

    Kaci, I had no idea Blackbird offered PDF printing too. It's currently down, but I'll definitely check it again soon. :D I've been seeing that Soho top all over now. It has such a nice drape in the yarn you chose.

    Kaci you are one busy girl! How do you get it all done and raise two children! I knit and have begun spinning, a real newbie. I used to sew all my children’s clothes and some of my own. Would love to get back into it, part of what has stopped me is the lack of wonderful fabric stores! I would love to hear about your sewing machine, what you like and don’t like. I have one that is about 20 years old and considering a new one. The digital ones look amazing and don’t seem too expensive. Thanks for your podcasts and video, love them!!

    Hello from St.Louis Missouri!

  • @seawolfandsage
    @seawolfandsage Рік тому

    Hi Kaci! One thing I heard about our gauges getting looser over time….
    It’s because as we gain experience knitting, and get faster and faster, we forget to push the stitches TO BE knit to the end of the needle, where it’s narrower, and we grab them off the body of the needle, where it’s full width. That stretches the stitches even more. So basically the actual size/gauge of the needle is what you’re stretching the stitch to. Whereas knitting off the body of the needle means that they’re already stretched and we’re making them even bigger.
    Does my rambly explanation make sense? 😂😂

    • @YoungfolkKnits
      @YoungfolkKnits  Рік тому

      Definitely makes sense! I recorded a video recently for someone who wanted to see how I tension my yarn and I tend to work on the ends of my needles so I don’t think that’s my issue most of the time. I think it’s the way I hold my yarn with practically no tension. I need to work on it. Or go down needle size 😂

    I would suggest the Knit Pro Ginger wooden knitting needles. They are so close to the speed of metal for me. I believe you would enjoy them.

  • @marujaperezgarcia-estan5249

    Hi! If you like Chiaogoo cables you should try Chiaogoo bamboo needles, I love them. I also like Lykke needles, but with the new KnitPro mindful cables.

    I feel like the Arkansas humidity being all over the place prevents me from being able to use wooden needles because it will change my gauge just by raining. I am stuck in metal needle jail but not offended.
